I have eaten in every section of this restaurant and I am amazed that they do not have a "C" rating. Why? Because they prepare and store food directly outside of each and every bathroom! And, I am convinced that they use MSG in their dishes now. Also, they use eggs in most of their dishes to thicken and compensate for the amount of food is in one entree. The waitstaff used to be colorful, now it's just busboys pushing out the food. Mr. Chow, what happened??? From May of 2025 (Las Vegas visit before they closed) to March 2026 , my go-to dish has changed not only in appearance, but also obviously in flavor. The Beijing chicken used to have some sort of 'red bean sauce', something I hesitated to try until I gave in years ago, and this has been my absolute favorite since. Tax refund came through so I placed an order to go on March 25th. When I opened the bag, the food clearly appeared different (see photo for comparison), something that set it apart from before was that red color. Sesame seeds were added to the candied walnuts (which I didn't mind), but this was a completely different entree. The new menu now says 'tender chicken with a hint of Beijing spices'. Truthfully if this was my first time eating this version, I would have probably liked it but since I knew its 'previous incarnation', I am really disappointed in the change of recipe. Loved the bartender, Matt. I went there once months ago and unsure how even remembered me but it made me feel extremely welcome. The food was good and the service was good, overall. The only downer was that there were two separate couples that were sat next to us and they apparently knew the staff very well and were extremely welcomed. They came far later than us but all of their food was rushed out, which showed us we were clearly less important. Once they were all fed, our food came out lol it was not a big deal bc my friend n I were having a good time but it was just amusing to watch the difference in speed. I was invited to a private after party for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for OutKast and it was here. They laid it out for the party. Of course the food was great! I have been here before but this was catered. So many delicious dishes! We were met with drinks upon entering. The amazing staff continuously brought food out all night. Even desserts! The service was beyond wonderful. The staff made the dinner even better than it was. We ordered champagne and cocktails, both were delicious. The Mr chow noodles were super flavorful. The noodles are made fresh in from of you. The glazed prawns are a MUST. I could've done without the chicken, but the fiery beef was amazing I could've gotten 2 of those! The food was disappointing overall, definitely not worth the price. Some dishes were good but most were just ok. Chicken satay had bland mayo sauce. The beef in the crispy beef was non-existent. I ordered the Spare ribs for first course, Beijing chicken my second course, and for your side, they gave you shrimp fried rice, and mix vegetables, which was so good. Everything was very good, what we ordered. They also have many cocktails and mocktails to choose from! I ordered the 1739 sidecar, which was very delicious!! The service is phenomenal from the valet until when you entered to be seated and all the people who help you out it's many servers and busybody that help you, and they're very efficient and always come and check on your table and clean off your table, which is a plus for me . The ambiance is so pretty and the decor, and very elegant and classy and upscale vibes. They have private rooms for parties, and two sides that you can dine on. This place is definitely good for celebrations, which my family had many parties here and my friends. Also, it could be good for date night or I would say pretty much any type of occasion. It's pretty much only valet parking unless you want to do street parking but I am not sure how that goes. I don't want to take it so I never risk it but if you do park valet is $20. My friends always raved about Mr. Chow--one used to eat here three times a week! I just went to Mr. Chow today after having wanted to go for a couple years now. To me it has far more hype than substance. The food is definitely overpriced. It's kind of a shame to think I could've ordered takeout for $30-$40 and probably liked it more. Out of the 3 items I ordered Satay, house noodles, and filet mignon the satay was the best... the other 2 I would rather have my $100 instead. Another review I just saw wrote up a cat food like quality to the noodle topping lol kind of harsh but I can see why. The filet was tender but however it was cooked and being drowned in sauce defeated the purpose of ordering a high quality cut of steak. The restaurant itself has a very dated appearance. If I were to grade each category based on the overall cost... Food D, Ambiance C, and Service A. It's just my opinion but if a place is going to charge an average $100 per person it should be on point. Perhaps the most important question is would I go back and that would be a no. We feel being rushed, pressured to order and they force you to order all ahead, without us even know how hungry we will be.Practically no one cares ad waiters attract your table as sharks. Just overwhelming! Compared to location in Miami or Vegas, this one far worst. Decoration is not as used to be, rooms need to be renovated, they literally smell old, same issue for bathrooms. Over priced Chinese food even for Beverly Hills. One serving of steam white rice is $23.00. That's insane. I can get a xl container in a white to-go box from a Chinese restaurant for $5.99 . The funny thing is their white rice is nothing special meaning there is no wow factor. It just your common every day jasmine white rice. It isnt altered nor gourmet. It isnt infused with ginger and garlic or other special aromatics,.....its just your everyday white jasmine rice that you can find in any if not everything Asian eatery. This place isn't worth it. I thought I was in for a delightful culinary adventure, but instead, I ended up on a journey through the Valley of Regret. 1. Scallop on the shell - So overcooked and dry, I'll call them the orbs of despair. I think the shell was softer than the scallop. 2. Crab Claw - Drier than my sense of humor on a Monday morning. Typically, you'd say even cardboard would taste good fried, but oh no, this poor little claw never got a chance at flavor. 3. Chicken Lettuce cups - Was there any chicken in there? 4. Chicken Sate - I didn't know rubber had a taste, but now I do. They just poured the sweetest sugary concoction over it to make it appealing. 5. The fried rice was a lump of sticky rice with some slivers of asparagus. Calling it sticky is an actual insult to actual sticky rice. 6. Glazed Prawns with Walnuts - It was ok, but honestly, I've had better at California Wok! 7. Mr. Chow Noodles - Basically spaghetti bolognese...with fat noodles. 8. Ma Mignon - Shockingly, really tender well cooked piece of meat that was tragically covered in sauce. Their "recipe since 1975." I wouldn't boast about that. 9. Steamed Sea Bass - Nice texture actually! Cooked well but bland. 10. Nine Season Prawns - Did it actually take them 9 seasons to get this dish almost as good as Panda Express? 11. Velvet Chicken - Forgetful. Wait, did we even eat it? Let's call it Mystery Chicken. 12. Mixed vegetables - How can anyone go wrong here? Portion for 8 was actually a portion for 1! Cooked nicely though. I got 1 piece of asparagus & we all had to share 1 piece of mushroom. As you can see, we gave it many chances with the number of dishes we ordered. Mind you, the entrees are in the $50-$60 range and in tiny portions. Service was fine, though. They managed to bring my plate of disappointment in a timely manner. You'll have a better experience at an all you can eat Chinese buffet. The ambiance was just OK, design was dated & bathrooms were run-down for a place that charges $64 for a tiny portion of Panda Express wanna-be shrimp. Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills is a perfect example of rich, pretentious people clinging to a place just because it's famous, expensive, and once good. The food is awful and the prices sky high, but they keep going for the status. It's not about taste--it's about being seen. This was probably my longest review ever because it was the biggest let-down ever. I will not be returning. So tonight on vacation in Beverly Hills, I decided to go to Mr Chow sometime around 9:30. Sat at the bar and struck up conversation with the bartender about Steely Dan and the reference to Mr Chow in the song Glamour Profession. Bartender did not know the reference. I asked if Mr Chow was still alive. He said, "He's right there and pointed to his left. Sure enough, sitting alone in a booth was Mr Chow, underneath a picture of himself painted when he was young. I went over to him and introduced myself and mentioned the reference to his place in the song. He looked confused at first and then his eyes lit up and he remembered. He said the painting behind him was done by Andy Warhol, a regular. I told him I was glad he was doing well and keeping that 70's vibe going. I took a picture with him.
