After The Thai Thing, you're gonna be Thai-Tired cause you'll need some rest after the food baby created. Stopped by for dinner on a Friday night, it wasn't too crowded at 6:45pm but got busier with time as most places on a busy street in LA do. We were warmly greeted and our waters remained filled throughout the meal. I loved the fiery crispy shrimp!! It came with 6 and was super flavorful. All the noodle dishes were fresh and came out hot! The crispy pork for the pad Thai was a bit in the dry side but crunchy and good flavor overall. They don't have a large amount of seating, but enough for couples or small groups (4). Little parking lot and not too far from the grove!

You might have a bit of a wait for your food, but it's worth it! I started with a glass of the Thai iced tea and it's amazing!!! Perfect smooth and sweet combination. My entree was the chicken phad Thai at 3 stars of spiceyness The indoor seating is truly pleasant and there is even outdoor seating!! So many wonderful things to come Back for!!!

Food is so good. This is my GO-TO Thai restaurant in the area. Fast service. Staff is kind. Four stars because space is small and usually have to park along the street.

I get take out here often but I dunno what happened last night. I had my usual order prik khing medium and pad thai mild. The prik khing tasted mild so I thought maybe the spice level got switched. Nope. Somehow the pad Thai tasted even less than mild. Like water. It was giving "essence of tomato" if you are extremely online and get the AITA ref. The spring rolls were fine but don't require spice. It was honestly so bad, I debated driving over to return. I finally procured some sriracha sauce but it's missing any other spice that it was just like putting hot sauce on plain noodles. I get take out so I don't have to cook and don't have the ingredients to fix this. I know it's hard to tell from photo but there is no red curry paste in this.

If you find yourself in the Grove/Fairfax district, you have to check out The Thai Thing. Weekdays are usually slow, which is perfect--you get your food fast and without a wait, and the portions are huge. I went with the Pad See Ew with chicken, and it was spot-on--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and satisfying. The vibe inside is just as great as the food; the interior is bright, inviting, and makes for a really pleasant lunch spot. Can't wait to come back and try something new off the menu. Definitely a hidden gem in the area!

Cozy Thai spot with small parking lot! The crispy rice salad is a must try. It is absolutely fantastic, they offer extra lettuce for ~$5 if you run out like us. The garlic noodles are quite filling and have great flavor. You can pick your protein too. I always love getting Tim yum soup when eating Thai. This version is a bit on the lemony side but I loved the small mushrooms in the soup! Overall enjoyable experience with very friendly staff.

Can't see how this place has over 4 stars. Worst chicken satay I've had in LA. Extremely dry. Service was mediocre at best. Pad Thai was not good. The only dish that was half decent was the crispy rice salad. 2/5 do not recommend

Excellent all around! The iced lychee black tea was so refreshing and delicious. It was a little too sweet for me but had some black tea on hand so added a little more and it was perfect. Garlic noodles were as expected and had great flavors.

Amazing food and casual but yet great atmosphere. We had the green curry, crispy chicken (appetizer) and flat noodles (with basil/beef). The service was friendly and great.

The most memorable dish was the fried pork in cabbage, the pork was fried to perfection and I definitely have this dish again.

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. The rice was piping hot and the mangos were sweet and soft, drizzled with a generous serving of sweet coconut milk. Personally, the rice was a bit too soft for me and the coconut milk was a tad too sweet, but it still scratched the itch I had for mango sticky rice. I went close to closing so the staff could only offer me takeout, which was fine. They were friendly both over the phone and in-person when I picked up my order. I'm only dinging it a point because of its high(er) price point. I would be down to go back again to try out their entrees next time though!

I felt like I came to eat and my mom's house. They take Debit Card and Apple Pay WITH a pin only. I forgot my wallet and paid with Apple Pay. It did not have a place for tip which made me feel awful. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. Prices were very reasonable.

I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Whether you're vegan or not, this place is truly outstanding. Five stars without hesitation!
