I hear rumor that she works at Morfey's. I was told that the ones we get are "experiments" and therefore may not be offered at the store. Today we had a red velvet cake with a white mousse frosting. The color was so rich, and contrasted beautifully with the off-white frosting. It was moist and fluffy (inside and out). Perfection is the best word to use here. Absolutely amazing! I ordered two cakes for my brother's birthday (uploaded them to the pics section). They turned out amazing! Everyone was very impressed with the quality of workmanship. They also tasted amazing. They created our beautiful wedding cake! The taste testing experience was just okay, we felt very rushed. It was fun to see the different options in the store and pull creative ideas. I wanted a simple three tiered square cake covered with sugar to give it the frosty glistened look. The buttercream on top was very thick and sweet. The cake itself was decent, other than the aforementioned lack of additional strawberry layers to break it up. I first emailed and did not receive a response from the store. After I called and left a message, my call was returned and we talked detail, but I said I would send a follow up email to ensure we were on the same page (with pictures). This email was completely ignored. All in all, the cake turned out mostly as expected, and the pricing was one of the best I could find in Seattle for what I asked for, which was a strawberry and vanilla cake, made with real strawberries, and a bit of piecey gold leaf around the bottom edge. Service: Erin was lovely to work with over the phone. I had to order a last minute cake and they were able to accommodate me on such short notice. The only thing I did not like was that she was unable to run my card through but never called me about the issue. I called the shop the day before my schedule delivery to confirm if I was getting the cake the next day and she told me she couldnt run my card.... This leads me to think maybe if I didn't call the day before I would not have gotten my cake. Please do call and get this sorted out when you can on a timely manner. it would of been an awful surprise to not get a cake the next day! Cake Price: Cake price was reasonable only 40$ for an 8inch round cake. Other places also charge in this range (40-55$) Delivery: Their delivery fee was only 17$ for an 8inch round cake which was more reasonable compared to other cake shops I called that either charged me $50 for delivery or did not deliver at all. Cake Design: It was a simple designed piped onto the cake. I didn't expect much from a 40$ custom cake. Cake Taste/Texture: I ordered the champagne cake and it really didnt taste like champagne, I mean it was pink but that was it. The frosting didnt taste like champagne either. I would recommend getting a different flavor. The texture of the cake was great, my co-worker even said 'it melts in your mouth'. Also unlike other super dry cakes you could get from say, Costco, this cake was moist. Overall: I would definitely order another cake from this shop, probably in a different flavor. read more

When we found Morfey's (who does both!) we made an appointment for some cake tasting. They presented us with 5 different popular flavors, which we picked our favorite on the spot. We didn't need to go elsewhere as their cakes are absolutely delicious! Next came to pick the design. We opted for a three tiered cake and a dozen gluten-free cupcakes. I would like to start off by saying that this is the first time I've ever left a review on Yelp. I was extremely frustrated with Morfey's Cake customer service that I believe leaving a review is necessary so I can help others that may experience the same situation. I tried ordering a cake and they were completely unresponsive. I called the store multiple times throughout the week and no one would pick up, so I left a voicemail. I finally received a call back by Erin and she was able to answer several questions about the cake I wanted to order. I asked if there was a way I can see what the cake would look like with the design that I requested and the answer I received was, "we don't have time to go back and forth on this, so you would need to just trust us". I was a bit taken back by this comment, so I told her I would like to think about it and I told Erin that I would call the following day if I decided to order the cake. I called back and I left a voicemail again. In this voicemail, I mentioned that I had spoken to Erin already and that I wanted to order the cake. I waited 2 days with no response and I called back again and left another voicemail. I waited 2 days again and still no response. If this is how someone is going to run their business, then the business is going to be short lived. I decided to call a bakery that I presume is their competitor. We decided to elope and had walked by the old Morfey's location several times. We met Erin, and she is amazing. We did our cake testing, chatted about some dietary issues. I never, really never, write reviews. However, I was so turned off by this experience that I immediately logged on to share. I have enjoyed Morfey's cakes before on several occasions and most recently ordered a champagne cake for a friend's birthday - they are delicious. I called today to order the same cake and left a message in the morning. Knowing that they need 48 hours to turn a cake around (as posted on their website), I called back at 2:30, after I had not received a return phone call. When I spoke with the woman who answered, she informed me that 1:00 was the deadline for the cake that I required. When I told her that I had called and left a message earlier, she told me that a white cake with blueberry cream filling was the only cake available for the date that I needed. I was throwing a 40th Birthday celebration and wanted a great tasting and beautiful cake to match the 20s era themed party. Morfey's is located in my neighborhood and we often had their cakes at our work celebrations so I was confident I would receive what I wanted. I ordered the cake more than a month in advance. When I went in it was a very quick but precise conversation. I wanted two patterns on a three layer cake using a black design on the bottom and top layer and dark red dots on the middle layer. They drew a rough sketch and I said great, paid my deposit and that was it. When I arrived on the Saturday morning of the party, I told the person working my name. She went back to the fridge and brought out a single layer box, which I thought was odd, but said nothing at first. She then opened the box and presented me with an Elmo Birthday Cake! Keep in mind I am stressed trying to ensure everything goes off without a hitch for the party and I almost fainted. I told her I did not believe that was my cake as I had ordered a three tier cake. She apologized and went back to the fridge. When she showed me my cake I thought the top and bottom layer was perfect. The middle layer looked pink - not red and did not match the intensity of the two other layers. The dots were small and looked like the cake had chicken pox. She tried showing me in the light that the dots were red and it did not change my perception. I was disappointed as the cake was a center piece for the party and now would not match. When I told her it was pink she did not offer to fix or change anything. She suggested I add red roses to the cake. She then told me she would let the owner know and she would give me a call. I am still waiting almost a week later for that call. The cake tasted great, but the overall look was less than desirable and not exactly what I had asked for. What would have been nice is if the person decorating the cake saw that the designs did not really go together; they picked up the phone and let me know - let's have a conversation about it so everyone is happy. At $300 a pop you want the cake to be spectacular. For an everyday cake that tastes great, I would highly recommend Morfey's. If you are looking for a showpiece, beautiful cake...think twice about using this bakery. read more

They said they could and I verified that the cake would be pineapple flavored and have pineapple filling. However the cake I got was cinnamon flavored and had a few pieces of pineapple as filling. My friend has a cinnamon allergy so she couldn't eat the cake at all.
