If you're at Ballard Farmer's Market, I must warn you that by 11 AM the pickings are quite sparse; if you can show up even 30 minutes before the, you'll increase your odds significantly of grabbing a goodie. Maddy's laminated pastry has a crisp outside that completely shatters when you dig in, which means it's a messy, but delectable treat. The layers are buttery and have a nice chew and the filling combinations are impeccably done. I often think matcha is overrated, but the Matcha Almond Pain Suisse is deliciously nutty with a little bit of grassy notes without being bitter. Seattle Dog Croissant has a very nice quality sausage, but I almost wish more cream cheese to punch you in the face. Cheese and Everything Bagel Seasoning Croissant had a great level of sodium and the cheese had crisped up when it spilled out. IMO Maddy's is better than Petite Pierre, better than Puffhouse, better than La Parisienne. So far, they've had the best pastries I've gotten to try in Seattle.

What we got: - ham and cheese croissant -- not enough filling, and pretty standard Guava Suisse --not enough filling again, good though. Overall, I'm glad to have tried it, but won't be going out of the way for it again anytime soon

They were both very nice. Talking to them you instantly knew how passionate they are about food. We talked about their travels to Europe and all the different food events they've hosted around Seattle. Michal is from Czechoslovakia and Osiris is Filipino American. They pull flavors and influence from both sides and are able to whip up something magical. If you are looking for a catering company, look no further! Her kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality made an otherwise difficult day a little easier. Great service can make a real difference, and she absolutely delivered. Salty's isn't the cheapest dining option at SEA, but between the quality of the food, the relaxed atmosphere, and the outstanding service, I think it's well worth it. If you're looking for a great meal before your flight, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

But the real issue was the service. What made it impossible to write off as a busy day was that my server was attentive to the table right next to me -- she asked the gentleman beside me how his meal was and refilled his water, while mine sat clearly empty and I was never checked on once. No introduction, no recommendations, no plates cleared. When I asked for something as simple as pepper, I got attitude, like I was putting her out. I typically tip 25%. I left 15% and honestly felt that was generous for what I received. At these prices, the food needs to be executed properly and the service needs to match. The chowder alone isn't enough to carry a $60+ meal. Would I come back? Maybe for a cup of chowder at the bar. Not for the full experience.

There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

I immediately called the bakery I usually use, and the process was easy and pleasant, exactly how it should be. Just a normal birthday cake ordering experience. This place completely lost my business due to her attitude alone. No one should be treated that way, especially when they're just trying to place an order. Very disappointing experience. Pick up went smoothly and the cake was wrapped in a plastic wrap which was nice. It was a warm day and I told my friend to make sure to have a cooler of sometime. I've picked up a couple slices from Miro for friends of the hummingbird and Blackout cakes. I'm afraid to buy a slice for myself cause it will be too easy to go back each time.
