Terrible customer service. The owner, Violette, who helped me was incredibly rude and had a horrible attitude. I was simply trying to place a cake order that was simple with no frills. She asked for a "theme" off her yelp page, which is an ok question for ordering a cake, but honestly I was trying to go for simple and did not want any fancy theme. I tried to appease her by figuring out a theme, and I may not have been explaining myself correctly but didn't deserve her reactive abrasive response. I was polite, kind, and doing my best to be clear while working with her, yet she somehow acted offended and spoke to me in a mean, unprofessional manner. While I was trying to correct however we got off on the wrong foot she just got more unprofessional. The interaction was so uncomfortable that I ended up in tears and canceled my order. I immediately called the bakery I usually use, and the process was easy and pleasant, exactly how it should be. Just a normal birthday cake ordering experience. This place completely lost my business due to her attitude alone. No one should be treated that way, especially when they're just trying to place an order. Very disappointing experience. I do not recommend her bakery on this experience alone. read more

My family and friends were fans of Kingfish Cafe when it was around. I recently found out that the cake slices being sold at Miro Tea in Ballard were by the same in house pastry chef that made the cakes at King Fish. My friend loved this cake so much back when he turned 40 he had the cake ordered the cake for his party from the cafe. He is visiting from LA and I had told him about finding out where to order his favorite coconut cake from. I'm sure he had a slice between his 40th birthday till now that he's 59 but he was so excited when I told him I had to order. We were having a small gathering of friends at his brother's during his stay so I placed an order for a 6 inch. I personally couldn't pick it up, but my friend who loves the cake did. Pick up went smoothly and the cake was wrapped in a plastic wrap which was nice. It was a warm day and I told my friend to make sure to have a cooler of sometime. We could not have been happier with the cake was as good as he remembered. Everyone loved the cake. Thank you for making my friend so happy!! I've picked up a couple slices from Miro for friends of the hummingbird and Blackout cakes. I'm afraid to buy a slice for myself cause it will be too easy to go back each time. The cake was moist and it wasn't overly sweet. There was still a quarter of the cake left for my friend to enjoy after the gathering. Thank you for making the visit so special. read more

My husband and I want to give Sweet Violette the highest rating possible for the absolutely most incredible cake we've ever had and it was for our wedding celebration. They turned out so beautiful how they were decorated them with orchids which created the most beautiful display of the cakes. The taste of the cakes were out of this world and our guest at our wedding are still complimenting them. We had just returned from getting married in Maui so our cake choices were a pineapple upside down cake (which was the best we have ever had), lavender buttercream, coconut buttercream, vanilla buttercream, coconut trifecta, and vegan gluten free vanilla. So delicious! The best gluten free cake I have ever had. I can't eat gluten so it was important to me to have a gluten free cake at our small wedding. My family was so surprised when they found out it was gluten free... everyone absolutely loved it! Viollette did such a great job communicating with us from the time we ordered the cake to the time we picked it up. We had a vanilla cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. Amazing baker....Believe me when I say....Violette review don't do justice! I found out late Sunday that a cousin intended to marry four (4) days later on Thursday. Offering to assist, I scoured websites and reviews for a baker for my cousin's cake. As I live in Boston and didn't want to add any additional pressures, I took my marching orders for a red velvet cake and ended the call. I created a short list of bakers only to find that most were closed until Wednesday. FORTUNATELY, Sweet Violette answered promptly Monday morning. I informed Violette of my ideas. I was looking for vegan cake that was also delicious. I've tried other ones but they were all just simply not quite right. Sweet Violette's cake was moist, sweet but not over the top and just delicious. The cake was gone by the end of the night, nothing left of it. It was a big hit! She also incorporated my daughters pumpkin theme well. She was really easy to communicate with and flexible when I changed my cake flavor after ordering.
