And most of all, they taste GREAT. We opted for a two-tier cake, simple layered design, and then accompanying cake bites for our wedding day. They were delicious...and we ended the night with zero cake bites left and just one or two pieces of cake...that says something! We opted for the cinnamon roll for our cake flavor (YUM!) and then the salted lime margarita and raspberry confetti for our cake bites. It was the perfect mix of flavors for us. It was the perfect flavor to please a large crowd. On to the design. Our cake was gorgeous! We went for a personalized look. My layer of the cake was Harry Potter themed and his was Star Wars. Exactly one week ago I emailed BAKED after me & my niece drove by their shop on California Ave. and read their (+) reviews on Yelp. They immediately emailed me back the next day to say they would be able to make a small round Gargoyle raspberry lemonade cake for my sister's birthday, to serve 6-8 people. So after paying $85 via credit card over the phone and being told by the young lady on the phone that I could pick it up the following Tuesday between 2PM-5PM I was happy! :) The only downside was that today (Tuesday) I got an email from Kristina at 3:27PM stating that they had me down for a 2PM pickup and to call her. I immediately called and spoke with Kristina and told her that I was told by a young lady that works there that I could pick it up between 2PM-5PM and was on my way, as I got off work a little after 3PM. My sister loved the cake! :) As did my mother and other close family members. In fact they loved it so much they asked me for the bakery's card (I only had one, lol). I ordered an 8-inch round cake (red velvet cake with cream cheese filling) with a Crown Royal bottle on top (sculpted out of a rice crispy treat) for my fiancé's surprise birthday party. It was ALL fantastic! My original thought was to get a cake sculpted into the shape of a Crown Royal bottle, but I figured that might be outside of my budget...which understandably it was. After I let the gals at BAKED know that was not in my budget, they were wonderful with coming up with other, more cost effective, suggestions. I sent them a picture of the label and what I wanted the cake to have written on it, and left the rest up to them. All of the party guests loved the cake, and many commented it was one of the tastier cakes they have ever tried. Even the server at the restaurant couldn't resist cutting a piece to try! From ordering to pick-up, it was quick and convenient. The whole process only took a few emails back and forth, and a phone call to finalize and pay. The shop is closed on Sunday and Monday (which is clearly stated on the website), but I always got a quick response when contacting BAKED on any other day. I needed a Hello Kitty birthday cake for a friend and I wanted something that would be pleasing to the palette and well, cheap. I had considered going the QFC route because their cakes are massive and within my budget but I also wanted to knock some socks off. Where could I get a Hello Kitty shaped cake? I did a google search for costume cakes in West Seattle and found Baked. I browsed their site and found plenty of pictures proving this place was fully capable of a shaped cake. I saw that they requested at least a week notice for cake orders. I needed the cake on Saturday and it was Wednesday. Shit! I contacted them anyways apologizing for the short notice and explaining how I just found out about them and if it would be possible to order a cake. I received a prompt response from Kristina asking to give them a call. I called and to my delight Kristina said they could make a cake for a Saturday pick up. The bad news was a custom shaped cake started at $150 due to how labor intensive it is and how much cake is wasted in the process. Ouch. I love my friend but I can't afford that so I went with a six inch round cake. The cake flavors were your basic white and chocolate and the fillings were a raspberry cream, lemon, and one other I can't remember. I went with the white cake with raspberry cream filling. My total was a mere $35. I pick up the cake Saturday morning and the shop is small and minimal. One table is set to the side for meetings and on the right there is a case for cakes to stay chilled while they wait for pick up. I was greeted enthusiastically and told her my name and she got my cake from the case. She showed me the final product and it was so cute! The Hello Kitty face was adorable and pink and black frosting decorated the top and sides. I was instructed to take the cake out of the fridge about two hours from now so it could thaw and be ready for the 8:30pm party time. Cake cutting time comes and everyone was impressed. The cake had four layers. The cake was dense yet light very similar to an angel food cake. The raspberry filling was perfect. The frosting was a butter based and while there was a hint of it, it was good. All the party guests enjoyed their slice. Baked was a very lucky find. I am grateful they were able to accommodate my procrastinating ass and created the cutest cake I've seen. read more

So, I ended up ordering a custom mine craft cake for my son's 9th birthday this year. He wanted a mutant snow golem(yeah I didn't know what this was until I googled it!lol) and 2 regular snow golems on the top of the cake. I was originally referred to The Sweetside in Seattle but they referred me To Baked because they were booked. Like another reviewer stated the communication was great with the Baked staff(I spoke with Christina via email). When I picked up the cake and saw the design it was better than I had imagined! It looked exactly like the photos my son showed me online of what mutant snow golems look like! I knew he would be thrilled! Like another reviewer stated they didn't really have a nice box to put the cake in which I was kind of surprised about since I paid over $300 for this custom cake.lol But, whatever...I was still sprung on the way the cake looked! So, the box is not the reason for the 3 star review. Again, like the other reviewer stated...the cake design was WAY better than the taste of the cake(I ordered the chocolate chip cake with a chocolate buttercream filling)I'm not gonna lie...the cake didn't taste that good and I am a cake person and I LOVE me some cake! It was very dense(which I figured it would have to be to be able to support the heavy mutant snow golems on the top) and kinda dry. I guess I was just expecting it to look great and taste delicious too since I paid so much for it. I really wanted to be able to give a 5 star review because I do like this little bake shop, but the truth is I think if I had the decoration from Baked and the inside tasted like Costco cake it would be better than the cake I bought from Baked. However, I do understand the mixed reviews and definitely suggest sampling the flavors before choosing one. At our cake tasting, we tried the red velvet, the raspberry truffle, the raspberry lemonade, and the amande almond cake. The red velvet tier was dry and the frosting lacked the cream cheese flavor. The German chocolate coconut frosting was sparse and the cake itself was possibly made with dark chocolate, which changed the flavor of this childhood favorite. The team at Baked did an amazing job on our beautiful wedding cake. We picked it up on a Friday and drove about 2 hours to the wedding destination. When we arrived, we realized the bottom was collapsing and it was beginning to tip over. It looked like there were not enough supports in the bottom tier. We got our wedding cakes from Baked. From the research to the tasting to the delivery, everything was easy (and delicious!). Baked has a useful gallery on their site that we used for inspiration. We set up our tasting appointment over email. They were ready for us and had lots of advice about sizes and display cake vs. kitchen cake based on the number of guests, our cake toppers, and our flavor preferences. All of the cakes we tasted were delicious, but there was a surprising range of flavors. The chocolate cakes were very rich and chocolaty, and the lemon cakes were light and refreshing. We decided on the decadent Italian crème (coconut) and a raspberry lemon. We paid in two installments (a deposit and then the balance a month before the event). Delivery was smooth.
