We saw a couple IG posts about Sweetpea's Cakes and we knew we had to try it. They are only open on Saturday and Sunday, and we made it there Sunday afternoon. They were out of their most popular cakes, the Dubai Chocolate and Tres Leches. The service was great, they suggested other items we could try. We got Mixed Berry cake and Carrot Cake cupcake. I loved the Mixed Berry cake, the Carrot Cake cupcake was great, moist and light, the frosting had the right amount of sweetness. As we were finishing up we were told they had 1 Tres Leches cake left if we wanted to try it, we had to get it. The Tres Leches cake was absolutely delicious. We were told it's better to get there on Saturday, or pre-order the cakes to get what we want.

I've been craving real treats for a while and hadn't been able to find anything truly satisfying--until today. I can honestly and confidently say that this place has the best sweets in Seattle. We had a tiramisu cake, a variety of cookies, a strawberry and raspberry cake (I think), and different kinds of cupcakes. Every single one was amazing, and the tiramisu had to be the best I've ever had. The service was exceptional. Despite a line forming behind us, the staff made my kids feel comfortable and even encouraged them to take their time since they couldn't decide. That level of patience and kindness was truly appreciated. Lastly, the ambiance was cozy, and I can't wait to come back. Thank you for the amazing experience! Oh, and I almost forgot--the packaging was on point. You can tell it's not just about amazing treats but also about class and presentation.

Had a piece of the Tres Leches and it was divine! The owner and his family were very nice, offered wonderful service and I'll definitely be back - great little dessert shop in the u district!

So happy that a much-needed cake shop opened up in the area! You can find a variety of treats here including coffee, cakes, and baked goods. Jennifer is an incredibly talented baker and her cake designs will blow your mind. Sometimes she does special orders for holidays too. Stop by frequently for new goodies!

Delicious cake and brownie! Friendly service and a gorgeous store experience. A charming indoor dining and street appeal. These cakes are gorgeous and for sure would buy one for here for events!

They also have these adorable, beautiful fruit sandwiches on display. I also saw they have savoury bento items on the menu. We tried the hojicha soft serve ($6) and it was amazing. It's really just vanilla soft serve with a syrup of a flavor of your choosing - sesame, matcha, hojicha, etc. We were way too full to get the full sundae but we definitely want to get that next. You can have mochi topping too.

They currently offer Matcha, Hoji-Tea, Kuro-Goma (black sesame), and Yuzu (Japanese citrus). The shop itself is very small since it's basically a window shop, either renting space from or connected to Tamari Bar. It's more like a little dessert stand located on the restaurant's patio area, with only a few outdoor tables available. The soft serve was okay, but not as creamy as I was hoping for, and it melted pretty quickly. If you decide to add a syrup flavor, I'd recommend asking for only a small amount. Mine came absolutely drowning in syrup, and honestly, the flavor tasted pretty artificial and overpowering.

First, the negatives that didn't affect my rating: parking is a pain, but that's expected for this neighborhood in Seattle. Seating is also very cramped and tight during the dinner rush. Annoying, yes, but understandable. What did affect the rating was the food itself. The Oreo brownie bingsu looked beautiful, but honestly it just was not very good. I've had much better bingsu elsewhere, even at chains like Snowy Village. It felt more Instagram-worthy than actually enjoyable. The mango cheesecake crepe was even worse. My friend and I literally scraped all the filling off and just ate the crepe itself because the toppings tasted so artificial. The mangoes tasted frozen, the syrup was overly sweet and processed tasting, and the whole thing lacked freshness. For the price, it was genuinely disappointing. The final bill ended up being over $40, which would have been easier to justify if the desserts were memorable, but they really weren't. One last thing: I don't mind tipping when there's actual service involved, but this is essentially counter service where customers are also expected to clear their own trays afterward. Having the tipping screen pop up at checkout after that experience just felt excessive and awkward.

Of course I mainly came for the perfectly picturesque green tea ice cream so I tried a matcha Mochi Parfait. It has House made matcha pudding and syrup, matcha ice cream, vanilla soft serve ice cream, corn flakes, red bean paste, mochi, and whipped cream. I'd never liked red bean in other desserts but together in this parfait it was amazing! 10/10, no notes.
