This is always a solid brunch place to go to in the Fullerton area. Would always recommend coming here. Although it can be busy, I usually don't have to wait long if I even have to. Definitely a hidden gem in the area. Service: Always a timely place that offers great service and food comes out decently fast. Parking: They have a small lot in the back that offers a few parking spots. Street parking is also available on Lemon to the side of the restaurant. Veggie Omelette: This comes with spinach, portobello mushrooms, Monterey Jack cheese, tomatoes, sourdough or wheat toast, and choice between salted potatoes, hash browns, or cottage cheese. I got wheat toast and hash browns extra crispy. This is my go to order. They do customize orders as I always ask for no tomatoes and light on the cheese. The hash browns are good however they may not always be as crispy as I prefer. I still enjoy it a lot though and would get this again! Breakfast Skillet: My husband ordered this with 2 extra eggs. This was really good and filling! Hadn't been here in a few years but the ownership clearly changed. The other locals might realize that too seeing as it was pretty empty on a Sunday morning when all the other restaurant in the city are at least an hour wait. That should have tipped us off. You walk in and get immediately hit by music so loud you can't talk to the people at your table without raising your voice quite a bit. There were two tables occupied and one family ahead of us to order. We got 2 orders of berry waffles, sides of bacon, eggs and chilaquiles. We placed our order at 10:48 and sat down as more people came in and started placing their orders. At 11, we got our sides of bacon before any food and about 5 minutes later saw the table that ordered after us getting their full meals. I went to ask if they knew what was going on and the girl upfront said she'd find out. One of the orders of waffles came out and we gave it to our daughter to start eating. My order of waffles came out a few minutes later and we still had to ask about the chilaquiles. We were told it the order had been mistakenly put in the "completed" pile and it would be a few more minutes. By the time we got our full order it was 11:17. 29 minutes after ordering. The family that ordered right before us were already asking for to go boxes and our extra sides were cold. It doesn't help that their food is not good. The waffles are massive and they feel like cardboard, the berries and cream they add on top are nowhere near enough to go with the whole meal as you are left with one whole waffle that is dry and has no topping on it. The scrambled eggs were undercooked and still somewhat runny. The chilaquiles don't seem to be made with tortillas but rather tortilla chips, they are watery and the sauce tastes like it comes from the enchilada sauce cans. It was $74 before tip. I've driven by this place many times but never dined here for some reason. I went for my first time today and loved it! My brother and I both had the Outlaw Burger, which was really good. My brother's girlfriend had the Berries-n-Cream waffle, which was also really good. The ambiance is cute and the waiters were good about checking on us periodically. **July 2021 Visit** Okay I'll be honest I was looking for a restaurant in the Fullerton area with a healthy salad option and this one fit the bill. However, what I didn't realize until much later was the social justice impact that it has for the at-risk community. Their mission statement states that they plan to "serves as a work experience/job training site for emancipating foster youth and other at-risk young people," which just made my heart soar! Professionally, I work with high school students and I'm all about supporting organizations that promote positivity and kids. However, the food is actually pretty good as well. I ordered a Chicken Strawberry Avocado Salad ($13.99) which had Chicken breast, avocado, strawberries, cranberries, feta cheese, honey walnuts, field greens arugula and strawberry vinaigrette. Very simple dish but they executed it well! On this visit they were doing take-out only, but did have some patio seats available for patrons who did not want to eat in their car. Originally fostered with people in mind, Monkey Business Cafe provides a workforce for at-risk youth and delivers food with fresh ingredients. As for the actual food, I can't quite say the flavors were as heart-warming. The chilaquiles were good; not overwhelmingly flavorful but not lacking either. It was just the average dish for me. I found myself wishing it had more toppings - cotija cheese, sour cream, and more avocado would have put the dish over the top. The Monterey chicken sandwich was just okay, in my opinion. The chicken was very dry. If we took out the chicken, it may have tasted a lot more pleasant. The side of french fries, however, were pretty good. I may not find myself here while traveling out of town again, but it was certainly worth a try. They have their own parking lot, which isn't very big, but at least you can drive through when you find out there isn't any parking. Again, not too bad, since it's a nice residential neighborhood. The interior looks just like the photos others have taken. It's one large dining area. One thing that I really like about this restaurant is that the staff is very attentive. The people that work here really know their jobs and they do them well. In terms of their parking, that is kind of iffy. They have a small lot along the rear portion of the restaurant which is generally full. Basically, what you have to do is to find parking on the street. This is fairly abundant, however. So, you should have no problem finding parking. But, this often times does involve a bit of a walk. Every diner table looks like a legit table you would find at your home to eat your daily meals. The atmosphere and environment is very home-y. You can tell this whole place was built by the community with its hodge podge decorations, lighting, and the tables and chairs Good sized menu. I went for a veggie and potato skillet. It had mushrooms and a looot of bellpepper. The odd man out was the broccoli but it worked. (A lot of the veggies were grown at CSUF, which I loved). Monkey Business Cafe is a business that has a social mission, helping at risk individuals learn skills and gain valuable experience so that they can become successful. I wanted to support them and made a recent visit for lunch. They were quite busy and we had to wait about 30 minutes. I now know why they are so busy. They serve breakfast and lunch only. The sandwiches we ordered were all very tasty and big portions. We had the grilled cheese with fries and the turkey cranberry melt with fruit. They use fresh ingredients so that helps in making the food tasty. Service was also very good and attentive. I glanced at the table next to us and they were eating breakfast which looked mighty tasty. The chilaquiles especially. I'll have to come again and try breakfast.
