Per my Google Locations, I have been to Mongo's 105 times in the past 2.5 years. Great coffee, usually pleasant ambience, usually great staff. 1 star because I will never go back there again. Double-nostril nose-ring barista there was so obnoxious, it made the visit scary and unpleasant. If there's a 10% chance he's working there next time I go back, why ruin a pleasant experience when there are other good coffee places nearby. Wish I found this place before quarantine! Inside vibe is chill industrial style with lots of couches and tables. The best part is the people behind the counter know their coffee! Since we only discovered this place recently we haven't gotten the chance to take advantage of the inside seating, but they have a small area set up in the parking lot which we gladly took advantage of. I was dropping my son off for a birthday party at the escape room place around the corner when I saw Mongo's. I was intrigued that there was this random coffee place in a nondescript office park in Syosset packed with people at 2 pm on a Sunday so I had to check it out. Glad I did. The ambiance was great. Tons of seating and awesome atmosphere. I could see myself coming here to read a book, meet friends, etc. all with a great cup of coffee or desert. Ordered an iced latte, which was one of the best I've ever had. Marble loaf was outstanding too. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Mongo's was recommended to me by several people after I posted on facebook in Tri-State Restaurant Group about needing a coffee shop that would allow me to post up for hours on end with my laptop to get some work done. I went to school up in Buffalo and then Rochester and they had these kind of coffee shops (and I do NOT mean Starbucks and Dunkin) everywhere. I had my choice of over 20 cozy coffee shops in my college towns and it was the best. For whatever reason Long Island has maybe 5 of these kinds of places and they're scattered from Roslyn all the way out to Montauk, not the most convenient! So when I heard about Mongo's I was excited to give it a shot; finally a place that's passionate about their coffee with a cool space to get work done. Firstly, this place wasn't my style, at all. As other reviewers have noted, it's incredibly cold, both in the ambiance and temperature. It's a very modern industrial setting and attempts to be cozy in one area of the place with a couch and rug but other than that it's concrete floors, minimal decor, wide open spaces, cold. With that being said, there are people who will LOVE this place so you have to check it out yourself, it just wasn't my style. It's on Michael Road, which is a random street off Jericho with a bunch of buildings and businesses; a big time commercial setting and the coffee building, I can't call it a shop, coffee building is right across the street from a car dealer of the sort. There is a row of parking in front of the coffee building. When you walk in you are immediately at the coffee counter, you can go right and there's a huge open space with tables and chairs, high tops, regular seating, armed chairs and community tables. On the left you have a big fancy couch with a coffee table. Like a living room basically. I approached the counter and having not been here before asked for a pour over, to which the girl said what kind of roast and I said, "Is there more than one?" she looked at me like I was an idiot and motioned to side of the counter. I didn't see a sign so I was confused, all I saw were 15 or so bags of beans so I asked if these were the different roasts, she shook her head yes and I went over to check them out. I had no idea what kind I wanted there were so many so choose from, which was cool but there was no signage indicating what flavor profiles the beans had and this girl couldn't help. Eventually a guy came over and asked what kind of roast I liked and he recommended a medium roast so I went with that. I get pour overs a lot when I go to coffee shops, they have never taken 15 minutes though. There was nobody else on line so I was definitely surprised it took this long. I grabbed a table and waited, eventually a fancy carafe was brought over with a mug and I was able to pour the coffee at my leisure. So, the roast was not for me. I took a few sips and eventually just put it up onto the counter, I'm sure another roast would have been right up my alley, this one wasn't. For $5 I was hoping it would have been a winner. Now, this was a great place to concentrate on my work. It was quiet, some subtle music in the background, indie rock, loved it. I think I spent four hours here and there was minimal distraction, a good studying atmosphere with the exception of the temperature. I was sitting as far away from the garage door as I could and during the afternoon the owner came through that entrance. He left the door up for over a half hour and the place got real cold, real fast. I threw my down winter coat back on and left it on for the rest of my time there because the place wasn't able to warm up again after that. I mean, it was a 35 degree day, I get opening the garage for a delivery but it was just open without any consideration to the guests who were freezing their buns off. I needed some cozy vibes here and it was lacking. Anyways, the bathrooms were also very cold, I mean it's a building, picture an empty cold warehouse feel with tables chairs and coffee, like I said this could be your happy place if you're into this kind of vibe so I highly recommend checking it out. I know I am annoyingly picky when it comes down to coffee so I think there's a lot of options here to choose from. Definitely a good meeting place with friends. The WiFi wasn't actually working for me on any of my devices for some reason. They had an open network, you did not need a password to access it, on all my devices it said I was connected but the internet wasn't working so I had to connect to my hotspot. The space is so wide open that many tables do not have outlets because they are not near any walls. So if you needed an outlet you'd have to be selective about where you're sitting. read more

Wow, that's what I said to myself when I walked in. The interior is beautiful, you could see no expense was spared on the decor. The place is big and comfy at the same time. The roaster is along one side and there are cozy couches here and there as well as tables. I loooove coffee but the frozen hot chocolate was calling out to me, And it was so good. Not sweet and it had a nice rich cocoa flavor and the whipped cream was so thick! plus it gives me a reason to go back. The menu has a lot to pick from all your usual coffee drinks, cold brews and tea. There are even a few on tap. There are cookies and pastries as well as some other choices. I have to give a shout out to Alec who helped me out, he was so friendly and explained some things to me about coffee and the shop. I had been wanting to go and am so glad I did. This place is almost a 5 for me. Its just really hard when it's always full here when I go. Grabbing a table isn't always easy as people come here to do work or study, so they stay for a long time. While Mongo's is not necessarily the place to go if you're looking for somewhere quiet to work, if you don't mind the noise (and the good music) this is a spot I'd certainly recommend. Surprisingly large there's plenty of seating options, and they have an equally large menu. Baked goods as well as sandwiches and toasts (all of which are good- I got the fig toast today and will definitely be getting that again), plus different coffee and blended options. Free wifi, too, so this is a spot I'll be adding to my WFH rotation when I want a change in scenery (and a good cold brew). read more

I found this place accidentally while waiting for my husband who was undergoing a medical procedure. I was so pleasantly surprised. Such a wonderful coffee house with great ambiance in a cozy, but industrial setting. Great coffee, great bagels, great pastries and so much more. The staff were so friendly. Cool new roastery in Syosset - it's very spacious and is a good place to get some work done or catch up with friends! Their drinks and food are a bit on the pricier end, but their cold brews are definitely quality (and what they're known for!) I would recommend trying their cold brews, the affogato, the chai latte, or their croissant sandwiches. Each of these definitely hit the spot and were fantastic. One drink I ordered that didn't meet expectations unfortunately was the matcha latte (for some reason I just felt like it tasted bland, almost like water - usually I like less sugary drinks, but I couldn't even really taste the matcha part). Overall though, I would keep coming back to this place simply for the novelty of the environment and the ambiance. You honestly won't find a coffee roastery anywhere else in the area and since it's a new place (opened within the last 2-3 months), you can tell the workers are excited to be here as well. read more

Didn't want to leave a negative review but the most recent trip called for one. Kitchen closed a full 45 before closing, bummed but somewhat understandable I guess. Ordered my drinks and waited 10-15 minutes. Barista was standing there and proceeded to talk to friends. It wasn't busy and I eventually had to walk back to the reg to ask. Barista asked me if I got my drinks with a nervous smile. I think you know the answer to that question?! He then says he forgot. My drink was made horribly, it was a cup of milk. Didn't ask him to make it again because he might "forget" to make it again.I've placed the same order twice before without problems. Wasted my money and time that day. They did a great job furnishing the place. Great service, they let me sample both the cold brew and nitro before buying, I only wanted something cold since it was 80 degrees out. I thought both were very smooth but I preferred the cold brew to the nitro since I'm not big on milky tastes. It's a good place to hang out or do work. Can get noisy when roasting machines are going. One of the best coffee shops in the area. Great open space and vibe (during COVID they are carefully warding off but still counter service and tables outdoors in parking lot). Great service and they roast their own beans. During early months of quarantine, we ordered several bags of their freshly roasted beans and they delivered to our home the same day. Seems to me that a lot of people like Mongo's Coffee, and there's a lot to like. There's a lot of space, which I'm finding is kind of rare for a high-end coffee shop (it's rare in any coffee shop). Mongo gets bagels and baked goods brought in, and has some other food options, but no egg sandwiches - despite the space, there's no real kitchen. I bet Mongo did the math of space+buildouts+staffing+county regs = cooked food, vs. none of those costs and headaches + more space = no cooked food, I don't know, I think I would ditch the kitchen, too. They make a pretty good espresso (not cheap, but good coffee never is), see photo. Why only three stars? I've had the brewed coffee, their lightest roast, a few times now. Every time, it tastes to me of cooking oil. Big turnoff. I don't know if it's their brew system or their roasting ... I'm so sad that, to me, their brewed coffee tastes weird. Came here for the first time because my friends and family and I are always looking for a new place to enjoy coffee and food. The guy at the front with the red sweatshirt who took our order was not friendly at all. Hope he's not the owner because that just makes him a jerk. He said nothing to us at all and barely answered my one question about a sandwich. Not even a "hello" or "thank you." Nothing. I asked one question about the size of the sandwich (because I wasn't very hungry and was trying to decide between sharing sandwich or getting 2) and he answered in a snobby way like I asked a dumb question. He was either being rude and condescending or he was high, but even high people smile. Anyway, the coffee was good and our sandwich was decent too. The employee who gave us our food was friendly so our mood was not totally ruined. Their prices are not low so you'd expect some level of friendliness. We were going to order another sandwich (salmon avocado) but we didn't want to see the sour-face guy up front again so we decided we can go somewhere else. We are not sure if we would return. Giving max 3 stars because the food is okay and the second employee was nice but not sure it's worth the cost when our good mood was gone within the first few minutes. read more

wow! A great find thanks to yelp that has safe indoor seating and great coffee. The coffee shop definitely takes precautions to keep people safe with spaced out tables, a clean place and employees wearing masks properly. My iced vanilla latte and my husbands cappuccino were fantastic. The employee that helped us was so kind and even switched the tv channel to the met/yankee game since I asked if it was possible to do so. Also, nice music choices playing in the background as well.
