A tale of two trips is this review of Sweet Harbor Coffee with the results being the same: impressive. You see, my coffee tastes have definitely changed over the years and at this point, Long Island has so many coffee spots to choose from that it can be tough to find ones that truly stand out. Despite one small (understandable) snafu with Sweet Harbor, I do think they're one of the better options out there. Now I haven't been to every coffee shop, but many seem to be using other brewer's beans and/or Torani syrups and it almost feels like I could save the money and make coffee at home with those same ingredients. So it's nice to know a place like Sweet Harbor is house-making most of their syrups. And it's great to find out (with a little research) that they concoct their own beans through a producing partner (Shared Roasting in Brooklyn). Maybe I'm too snobby these days when it comes to coffee, but if I'm spending my money on an intriguing latte (and the pricing at SHC is right there with any other special coffee spot), I want to know it's made from things I can't get on my own. Just sayin'. Speaking of intriguing, Sweet Harbor has a nice selection of seasonal special drinks, some signature flavors, and plenty of syrups to create your own coffee of choice. Visit #1 came at the end of August early in the morning with my wife where I went with a maple sea salt latte and was truly wide-eyed by the fantastic balance of coffee and maple flavor with that hint of saltiness. My wife's vanilla latte was also spot on. Visit #2 was when their fall menu was up and running so I went with the salted pumpkin shaken espresso which blew the doors off of my tastebuds (if tastebuds have doors). These drinks were truly stunning in creating something that perfectly combined both bitter and sweet. In that bitter and sweet mindset, I'll say the staff definitely falls into the sweet category. Smiles and bustling baristas can be seen behind the counter. The one bitter snafu I previously mentioned? The place is just not that big (although cute in its quaint interior feel) and the hype seems to be real because there might just be a line out the door when you get there. That August trip we were lucky and almost walked right up to order, but that more recent trip had me waiting about 15-20 minutes between the line and getting the drink. Though honestly, I'd wait again...and again. It's worth it. Overall, I won't preach that I'm a coffee connoisseur or that I've tried all the trendiest coffee shops on LI, but I will say that my standards have gotten high and rightfully so. Why spend your hard earned cash on some coffee that only looks great in an Insta post but was made from syrups and coffee you can buy at the grocery store? How about having some original coffee, unique syrups, and focusing on flavor instead of looks? If that sounds good to you then Sweet Harbor Coffee is going to be a winner in your brewing book. If you're not into that, stay home and make that line shorter! read more

On 9/6/26, Ava was my barista. She gave me a sample of the banana milk (brand = Barista) upon my request, and it was too sweet. So I settled on their signature iced maple sea salt latte, custom made with half skim milk and half whole milk because they don't have low fat milk. The latte was not too sweet, which is a plus for me. There were about 10 people ahead of me on a line that moved as slow as a snail. Inside felt like Grand Central because I was in the shop for about 20 minutes before I got to place an order. They sell brand merchandise, like shirts, towels and bags (see photo below). There are also several small tables where you can sit and drink, but most people took their orders to go. Would I come back here again? No. Sweet Harbor Coffee is NO BIG DEAL (pun intended, see copy of receipt below). The coffee is too expensive for what it is worth!!! read more

I stopped by on a random Wednesday noonish. There was seating but the coffee shop for sure moves. I can see how this place gets real busy. I tried a honey latte that I forgot to take a picture of. Which was delicious and smooth. Service is kind and helpful with explaining their choices. There is WiFi. I'm not sure if it was the day that I went but I was told there wasn't a restroom. I am a coffee snob and a lover of any kind of coffee venue. Sweet Harbor Coffee is the newest in the Roslyn Harbor area on Old Northern Boulevard, and it did not disappoint. By habit, I drink my daily coffee black. Sometimes I put stevia in it when dining out and ordering it with dessert or after my meal. I only put milk products in iced coffee or lattes/cappuccinos, and I usually prefer almond milk since I prefer a less sweet, more nutty aftertaste. But for my first go at Sweet Harbor, I asked the very attentive young person behind the counter what he would recommend. They had a salted caramel latte on special, so I tried that with almond milk. It was served hot, did not need a sweetener, and was not overly sweet nor salty. In essence, it was the best marriage of the salted caramel coffee concept I've had in a long time. Prices are comparable to what you'd pay in any coffee place, with Apple Pay being an option. They offer free wifi and have the password on display near checkout for your convenience. It is a small shop, with about 4-5 small tables. You can eCommute there, but I imagine it fills up fast. During nice weather, you can walk outside and visit the ducks in the pond across the way. There is a municipal lot directly across the street, as well as on-street metered parking. I cannot wait to go back and try something else, including their food menu. read more

As a coffee addict and self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur, I was really excited to try Sweet Harbor Coffee in Roslyn. I had heard so many great things and was willing to wait over 20 minutes in line because my expectations were that high. One thing I always look for in a coffee shop is house-made syrups, and I was happy to learn that they make most of theirs in-house. I ordered the salted caramel latte, which is usually my go-to drink. While it was a decent cup of coffee, I found it to be much more bitter than I expected. The quality wasn't bad by any means, but it definitely wasn't the standout cup of coffee I was hoping for. Would I wait 20+ minutes in line for it again? Probably not. Was it the best coffee I've ever had? Absolutely not. For me, it was mid at best. That said, the staff was incredibly friendly and working hard to keep up with the long line. They were pumping out drinks as quickly as possible and provided great customer service despite how busy it was. Overall: 7/10. Not terrible, not amazing--just okay. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm still on the hunt for my next great cup of coffee. read more

A quaint and cozy café in the village of Roslyn's downtown historic district, Sweet Harbor Coffee brews a solid espresso with friendly, smiling baristas that are happy to serve. With a fairly standard menu that includes alternative milks oat and almond, and several flavor additions as well, it's no surprise that even just before closing time (4pm!) a short line is present. My coffee was very good, i rarely purchase these types of beverages but we wanted to check out the new shop and the Maple maybe salted Latte, iced, sounded interesting. you can certainly tell that the syrups are made with a passion. My daughter had a similar one but she felt they may have forgotten to add the espresso as it was incredibly pale and did not seem to have a coffee taste. Few tables crowded by the waiting crowd, the staff was working hard to churn out the drinks to the masses that were waiting. The town has a culture as most do nowadays, of take out coffee/chai drinks and I can see them expanding in the future to accommodate the crowds. I do not think there was an upcharge for alt milks, at least it did not seem to be posted. I wish them continued success ! read more

VIBE: This is a very cute and cozy little cafe. It's like Brooklyn/Queens meets long Island. We arrived around 12 noon on a Sunday and the place was packed. All seats were taken. I kind of feel like they should have a policy like other busy cafes I've seen where folks should not be able to sit for long periods with their laptops on weekends. There was 1 person with a laptop occupying a table for 2 when the line was going all the way from the counter in the back to the door up front. SERVICE: Even when the consistently long line, the wait wasn't super long. The guy who took our order was nice, making sure to ask if I wanted milk and what kind. The have simple syrup on the side to sweeten your iced drinks which I always think is just a level up from other places that don't have that available. DRINKS: My husband got an Americano. It was smooth to drink, the espresso not being burnt nor too watery. I was drawn to the cardamom rose chai latte and I got it with a shot of espresso. The cardamom was mild and pleasant. I can't say I tasted much of the rose flavor which folks who don't like floral notes probably prefer. The chai could have been a tad more spiced in my opinion...but there's also a chance they misunderstood and gave me a latte with the cardamom flavoring? Which I don't mind because I wanted the espresso for the caffeine. PASTRY: We got their salted chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious! Not only was it massive but it was soft and chewy with plenty of chocolate and nice toasty edges. I split it with my husband and honestly half was all I needed with my coffee! TLDR: Cozy cafe with delicious coffee and cookies. Limited selection baked goods so maybe don't go hungry. Unfortunately, my experience at Sweet Harbor Coffee was pretty disappointing, especially considering how expensive everything is. The shop is definitely overpriced for what you're getting, and when you're paying higher prices, you expect the service and overall experience to match. The ordering experience was extremely frustrating. The employee helping me barely seemed to understand English, which made it very difficult and time-consuming to place a simple order. I had to repeat myself multiple times, and it took forever just to get through the ordering process. I completely understand that language barriers can happen, but there should be a better system in place to make sure customers can communicate their orders without such a difficult experience. What made it even more frustrating was that I was told they didn't have iced coffee. I was then offered an Americano instead. I was confused because iced coffee is such a basic and common coffee order, but I figured maybe they were out for the day. However, another the other barista kindly later told me that they actually DID have iced coffee. So I'm not sure if the first employee simply didn't know what was available or if there was a communication issue, but either way, it was frustrating to be given incorrect information and then find out from another employee that the item was available. I also frequently see a bald barista working here, and unfortunately, he consistently comes across as very unfriendly and stoic. There's very little warmth or customer service whenever I've encountered him. I understand that everyone has bad days, but when you're working in a customer-facing position, being approachable and making customers feel welcome should be part of the job. The overall attitude just makes the experience feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I really wanted to like this place, but between the high prices, the confusing communication, inconsistent information from employees, and lack of customer service, I don't feel like the experience is worth what they charge. For the prices they're asking, I expect better service, better communication, and a much more pleasant experience. There are plenty of other coffee shops where I can get a good drink without paying a premium and dealing with these kinds of issues. read more

We ordered the Maple Salt Lattes, one iced with almond milk and the other hot with whole milk - both were yummy but VERY sweet. Aside from the coffee itself and the welcoming staff, we were bummed this place didn't have a bathroom. Despite it being a sit down shop, the only bathroom nearby was at the deli across the street. We'd really love if there was a sign or some restroom within the vicinity to use if we are customers. Although alt milk is still all the hype, there was zero pricing on the menu if you chose the alt milk route. I really hope what I say will help the owners create a more efficient system. Having 6 workers squeezed behind that tiny barista space seems completely useless. The cashier kept turning her back and not taking orders which was just very bizarre as she just awkwardly stood there. Then another barista just hopped on the register as she stood there. Another worker was just waiting for the barista to finish drinks so she can then call out peoples names. Too many cooks in the kitchen with no efficient system. The place was also extremely messy. The cashier could have been cleaning up tables and fixing chairs when she was ignoring customers. There were no napkins and lids weren't restocked. The drink was fine, nothing much to say. The place is entirely too small but cute. I think the owners could really benefit from getting in consultants to help out the staff read more
