    Bacon, egg, and cheese "danish"

Looking for a local coffee shop when in the Malverne or Rockville Centre area? Then Kookaburra is for you! I visited their Malverne location on an oddly chilly August morning while waiting for my car to get its annual inspection at my nearby mechanic. Outside the entrance, there is a picnic table and some other seating for those who prefer to be outside. There is a rear entrance where the parking lot is, which is convenient for those colder months when you don't want to walk around an entire building to get to a front entrance. The ambiance is welcoming and the staff I dealt with were all smiling and happy to greet customers. The young person who made my latte was helpful answering my questions about their drink menu. I opted for an almond milk latte with one of their homemade syrups: lavender shortbread. I also ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese danish, which sounded interesting. GROWS: This is a cash-only business (hence, deducting one star). It cost me $8.95 for a bacon-egg-cheese danish and a large almond milk latte with one of their specialty syrups, so I am glad I had cash on me. They didn't offer to heat up my BEC danish; it was cold when I bit into it. At that point, I didn't have them warm it up for hygiene reasons (would you want your stuff reheated in a place where they put an ABC piece of anything???). As such, I couldn't properly assess the delicious factor, so if you try it, or anything else that should be served hot, ask them to warm it. Parking is on-street or you can use the lot in the rear. BEWARE: This lot is permit-only or metered in most spots. Read the signage carefully. GLOWS: They offer free Wi-Fi, which is pretty stable. There are outlets spaced throughout, so if you are looking to do some work here, they can accommodate your needs. There is comfortable seating for groups of 4, or smaller 2-person tables along the wall. There is also a counter area where there are 3 stools for those who want to sit solo and read, or watch the baristas work their magic. They have a wide variety of danish, muffins, and even offer huge NY bagels with different kinds of spreads. This venue is well-maintained and spotless (this Virgo loves order, cleanliness, and good hygiene! LOL). The long line was handled swiftly, and I didn't hear anyone return to the counter to have something corrected. Kudos to Kookaburra!

An absolutely lovely experience! Inside is quite tiny, but filled with plenty of charm. A few seats to pass the time, twinkly lights strung around, a bike lovingly hung on the wall. Despite its size, there was plenty of patrons patiently waiting for their drinks, so you know this place is well loved by the community. There is plenty of options to choose from on the menu: classic cafe fare, speciality drinks, baked goods. I find it absolutely brilliant that they do offer mini pastries as well! I opted for a mini blueberry muffin and a Kookaccino and was serviced pretty quickly despite the line. The Kookaccino was quite pleasant. It's an iced drink, very much akin to a Coolatta or an Iced Capp but not as sweet, which was nice. The blueberry muffin was buttery and fluffy. Not many blueberries throughout but I just assume its because the muffins are so tiny. A lovely accompaniment to my Kookaccino as I accidentally walked too far to Lynbrook... Overall, a wonderful place to stop by and enjoy the vibes while sipping on some coffee!

What a cute little coffee spot! Absolutely loved the vibe in here. The lights and decor are so welcoming and fun. I had the strawberry & caramel latte & matcha from the season menu. The flavors were perfectly balanced. Got the harvest muffin to go because of a recommendation I saw on here & I snuck a taste because I had it to go - but wow is it packed with flavor! Everyone behind the counter looked like they were having a great time working together & were super friendly. One thing to note is that it's cash only, so I'm SO glad I happened to have just enough on me. I clearly missed the sign on the door when I walked in so only noticed it on my way out & that's on me! Just something to note for when you come here!

I visited Kookaburra Coffee Co in Malverne, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. The staff and ambiance were pleasant, but my order for a nova lox on an everything bagel was not executed correctly - I received a salt bagel with chopped up salmon bits that didn't meet my expectations. Additionally, the chai latte was not great either. It was way too creamy and lacked any chai flavor. Also I have to mention they only take cash so I had to go next door to use their neighbors atm for an additional fee. They also have a chase bank down the block. While the coffee shop has a friendly atmosphere, it may be worth double-checking your order to ensure it meets your expectations. I'm willing to try my luck again but most likely will go elsewhere .

Small coffee place with tasty pastries and delicious coffee. The establishment is super small but they move the line fast. I highly suggest the harvest muffin because it is sooo tasty.

So because of the reviews here compared to the RVC one, I had planned for my first time , to go to RVC. I called to make sure they were open in RVC, no answer. I called Malverne and yes, they are open. I bought the Kookachino w/toasted marshmallow n mocha, the Advocado toast, Irish soda bread and the peanut butter n jelly bar. I brought my puppy for the visit. There was a another dog there, the same breed as mine, but 8-1/2 years older that does not like other dogs, so that was sad, so glad my pup loves all dogs. Anyway, the kookachino was DELICIOUS and so was the Advocado toast. Took a crumble of both the Soda bread n PBJ bar, very, very good. Staff was very personable and friendly. I will be frequenting this place.

Things I liked: 1. The Maple Sage Latte. It's toasty, warm, not too sweet, but a perfect blend of flavors. I'm not sure what I expected Sage to taste like, but I liked it a lot. 2. Customer service. Aw man they were great. Great energy, smiles, everything. Coffee shops to me are a social, homey environment and everyone here made sure of that as well. 3. Menu variety. They have cool lattes and a food menu that goes beyond avo toast, and I appreciate that. Eh: 1. This place is cash only. I rarely have encountered coffee shops that are cash only, so that was certainly interesting to me. As someone who NEVER carries cash, it was a slight turn off, but not a deal breaker by any means. 2. I wish my bagel was more toasted. Lol small request. Not a deal breaker by any means. The bagel was still great.

However, I stopped going because I ordered cakes and they were just done very sloppily and weren't worth the money I was being charged. Last week, I decided I'd give them another chance because I want to support local businesses and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I don't ever want to review a business to harm them but I really think they need to take some feedback and implement that into their business. I ordered a gender reveal cake, something small and simple and specifically told them to make sure the writing on the cake was done neatly as I remember one of the previous cakes I had gotten the writing was not neat. The person taking my order asked me if I'd like whip outside or buttercream and I asked what they recommended because I'd only done buttercream before and they said if you're doing whip inside then it's fine to do whip outside. I said ok. Placed my order and went in to pick it up. As soon as I saw the cake I was horrified. The writing was so sloppy and so was the cake. It was as if I made the cake myself. I asked them to fix the writing on top at least. They said ok the baker will fix it. She brings it outside and said it's whip so I can't do much but buttercream would be better (it was worse than when she had taken it inside) I said ok you can do it in buttercream no problem. Brings it back outside and it's still sloppier than ever. I said this is not neat at all, and she said well it's what I can do it looks just like the picture. I said no it does not ( I will attach the picture for reference) and the baker goes "well what can I do this is how I write?" In that moment I just knew they were not willing to help at all. I had already paid in full for the cake so I took it and left. Come home to see that this is supposed to be a gender reveal cake and you can LITERALLY see the icing inside the cake from outside. It doesn't matter if you pay $40 for a cake or $100+ you should be getting what you requested. This was a simple cake that they completely ruined. When I texted her the picture I emphasized that I'd like the writing to be as neat as possible, and I was reassured it would be. Also, if you as the professional know whip won't work as well, why not call the customer and discuss with them prior to ruining the product you are providing. The excuses did not make sense. I will not be returning. And I hope they can take this feedback and improve their cake decorating process. The cake went to waste and we had to improvise last minute.

    ### 5-Star Review for Kookaburra Coffee Co…read more **Absolutely the Best Coffee Experience - Hospitality That Warms the Heart!** I popped into Kookaburra Coffee Co. while visiting the area, craving a good coffee and a few pastries to go with it. As I reached the counter, I noticed the sign: cash only. I realized I didn't have any on me - oops! The owner couldn't have been kinder or more generous. Even after I mentioned I don't live locally and wouldn't be back for months, he insisted on giving me the coffee and pastries on the house. What incredible hospitality in a world where that's rare! And the treats? Phenomenal. The coffee was hands-down the best I've ever had - rich, perfectly brewed, and full of flavor. The cornbread was insanely delicious, moist and flavorful in a way that elevated a simple classic. Then there were these gorgeous pretzel threads (like delicate, twisted pretzel bites) that were addictive - salty, crunchy perfection. This little gem in Long Island (with spots in Rockville Centre and Malverne) is worth seeking out. Pro tip: Bring cash! But even if you forget, you might just encounter the kind of genuine kindness that makes the visit unforgettable. I'll be dreaming about that coffee until my next trip back. Highly recommend!

Visit Date: April 28, 2026…read more I came to Kookaburra before my endocrinologist appointment. It was in my LI Cafe Passport book. I've noticed some reviews say they are cash only, I paid in cash but I also saw some customers using debit cards. I got my dad a bag of coffee because I have Christmas money I had saved to take him out and we only went to Panera a few times so I've been buying him bags of coffee from the nice coffee shops. I got an iced cafe mocha with half and half. It was very good, creamy, chocolately and it gave a nice buzzzz. The coffee shop itself is very small, most of the space is dedicated to their coffee machines and food service. There is limited seating outside but it's not a place where they encourage you to stay and hang out after you get your coffee. It's still good though. It's more of a grab and go coffee spot. They also have no bathrooms but if you ask for a bathroom they will refer you to the train station or the cathedral near the coffee shop. I would recommend coming here for coffee it's really good but if you're looking to linger you can't.
