I have been driving by Vida Coffee Shop for the longest, yearning to stop in, not realizing Vida Coffee Shop is a treasure trove that is conveniently located in Franklin Square on Hempstead Turnpike at Monroe Ave on the North side of the street. So it finally happened!! I took the opportunity to stop in because I missed breakfast and wanted something small. Vida Coffee Shop advertises parking in the rear which is so relaxing because parking is hectic in this area. You can enter Vida Coffee Shop from the rear. That's a life saver for snowie days like today. Walking in I see, ambient lighting which sets a comfortable yet homely tone with a picturesque view of the Turnpike framed the dining area, clearly the result of thoughtful design. As I look around, I'm met with a chorus of enthusiastic greetings--'Hello,' 'Good morning,' 'Welcome.'" I instantly appreciated the hospitality and matched it in kind. The young lady that help me, Ms. Carina gave me the abridged version of the menu. I ordered a ham and cheddar cheese croissant, a sesame seed bagel w/ cream cheese and a 16 oz vanilla flavored coffee. While the food was being prepared I learned that Vida Coffee Shop is family owned and operated, 1 coffee shop, 1 year in business, and a Long Island Choice Award. Congratulations!! I've had ham and cheese croissants with Swiss cheese before but this was way different. The ham and cheese croissant had cheddar cheese, very delicious with a hint of cheddar, not drowning the ham flavor and flattened by a Panini press. The bagel was very fresh, and the coffee was nicely tempered. No scorching of the tongue! One piece of advice: with this extreme cold, dine in. Love stopping in here if I'm passing by, the staff is always so nice and the store is always decorated so cute. I always like to try a different flavor iced latte when I go, saw the choco banana as a seasonal flavor on the wall and had to try that. Not only did it look good but it tasted very good as well. I noticed after the fact that they have a banana brownie which I'm sure would have paired up great with the iced latte. I'll have to stop in again soon to try them together! read more

My friends and I were looking for a cute cafe to have brunch & we came across Vida! Everyone at the register is so welcoming when you come in, you can tell that this is a family business and it's very well run. They have their menu written out on the wall behind the register as well as a QR code you can scan.The coffee shop has a wide variety of flavors/coffee as well as a small savory menu and bakery menu. When we got our orders everything was fresh and really delicious. You can tell the food is made with love. I really enjoyed the turkey and swiss croissant (not pictured) it was pressed to perfection. My friends really enjoyed their meals and coffee's also.The ambiance is nice and relaxing there are a lot plants and cute decor.There is more than enough seating and they have a super clean rest room. The coffee is overpriced & the service is slow. There were 2 people in front of me & it took way too long to get my simple order just for myself. Parking & location are terrible. Business must be in trouble because I just found out it's FOR SALE. The ambiance is nice for what it is, but I will not return as there are better, cheaper & more convenient options. read more

Super cute coffee shop that just opened in the neighborhood! Great addition to Franklin Square. The cafe is very clean and nicely designed! There's an adorable photo wall This is a family owned establishment. The owners are welcoming and friendly! Cold brew was good. We also tried the Bronx panini and it was so yummy! Super crunchy outside and flavorful inside. Definitely recommend this place for coffee, brunch, or just to hang out. There are plenty of tables! I was home for the weekend and found this cute coffee shop on my way to visiting my family. This spot has great coffee and lots of choices. We had iced coffee lattes: salted caramel, hazelnut and mocha. All 3 were delicious and overly sweet... just right. The Colombian coffee was robust so the lattes were rich in flavor and body which is exactly why I support small and authentic shops like this one. They serve small bites like empanadas including desserts!!! The staff are so nice and very welcoming. Free parking in the rear is a plus!!! So glad I stopped by during my home visit. Vida Coffee Shop is a new addition to the Franklin Square area and one that I will be frequenting! This family-owned coffee shop is beautifully decorated with ample seating and a cozy atmosphere. There are tables, stools, a table off in a corner for more private conversations, a fireplace and Queen Anne chair in another. They also have a bookshelf with books to borrow/swap. Music is playing at a comfortable volume, so that anyone looking to eCommute or enjoy conversation with someone can. They offer a variety of coffee with two sizes available, 10oz and 12oz. The young man who took my order gave a thorough explanation of the different flavors and combinations available to me. I get the feeling that this is a family-owned and operated business and that is fabulous!!!!!!! I ordered an almond milk latte with hazelnut flavoring. Outstanding! This venue is conveniently located and has their own parking lot in the rear, with an entrance in the lot as well. This will come in handy during the colder months. Highly recommend! read more

Cute new establishment to Franklin square! Their desserts look delicious but we opted out this visit. Great place to get some work done due to all the natural light coming in from all around facing Hempstead tpke. Their menu had quite a few flavors of lattes and frappes so if you were a lover of the Starbucks frappes this may be your new favorite place to go! The only down side is they didn't have sugar free syrups yet which would make a great addition to their menu. We got 4 drinks in total. The cold brew, chai latte, brown sugar shaken expresso and a flavored syrup latte. The cold brew can use some work it was wayyy too bitter and not balanced well enough but I'm sure they can work on it. Great family owned business definitely worth checking out. I liked it much better in comparison to NY caffeine personally. read more

The service is good and they're nice. They got my order wrong and charged me way more than the order I made. I'm sure it was an honest mistake, they did remake the drink, but didn't offer to refund me. It's feels very small business and first time operating a business. I think the coffee is also overpriced. More so than Starbucks which is a bit nuts. I don't think I've hit $10 for a latte at Starbucks in the city. And the hand sanitizer is SO STRONG. I washed my hands 5 times already and it still smells like shampoo for some reason. Sadly I won't be going back. read more

This is exactly what a great coffee shop should be: unbelievable coffee paired with a cozy, welcoming ambiance that makes you never want to leave. I live in Boston, where we have a serious cold-brew culture, and the Colombian cold brew at Vida is genuinely second to none. The home-baked goods are also absolutely out of this world. Prices are competitive, and it's clear they've thought through every detail of the customer experience, right down to the hand sanitizer! New favorite coffee shop ! It's always great when there's a new coffee shop open near by you and best of all when it's a family owned business serving homemade options. Highly recommend the visit! Right now for fall season they are having a great selection of seasonal lattes - absolute fav is the vanilla pumpkin macchiato. They have a list of paninis that are hot pressed and so so delicious. I still have to come back to keep trying their selections. I do highly recommend to try the Brooklyn bite panini-ham, pepperoni, mozzarella, arugula, tomato, marinera. They also sell croissants with ham and cheese- they also hot press the croissant making the taste even better ! This family owned business also serves desserts like flans, tres leches, tiramisu and waffles ! The service is great as they are very welcoming to all their customers. Really really good. I tried the coffee shop down the block which I didn't feel was particularly good but still gave this one a chance and wow! Family owned and everything's delicious.
