I went with one of my friends. We both had the mochas and I had a shot of espresso because the book recommended it. The espresso was good, not overly bitter, pretty much just right. The mocha was amazing a good ratio of chocolate, coffee and espresso. It was pretty busy here and the atmosphere was nice. The snacks looked really good maybe one day I'll go back for a pastry. l've rarely encountered such a rude and unwelcoming barista. I ordered a pour-over, but when I tried to simply watch the brew process, the barista was incredibly cold and dismissive, essentially refusing to let me see what she was doing. The elitist attitude continued throughout the transaction; she couldn't be bothered to tell me which beans she was using, and once the coffee was finished, she didn't even acknowledge me or announce that the drink was ready. It's a shame when a shop's "gatekeeping" attitude ruins the experience. There is no excuse for treating customers with that much contempt. Have been craving an iced Gotham Mocha & have been wanting to try the Honey Butter Pancakes since I saw them on Instagram a while back. The girl at the counter was nice as usual, however once the transaction was finished I just wanted to ask her if the server will bring my food outside if I choose to sit there. I couldn't get her attention if my life depended on it. So I go outside as I see a group eating with plates and silverware, as if the order was brought outside to them. After about 15 minutes of sitting outside, I decide to go back inside just in case me being outside was somehow overlooked. I'm inside at least another 10-15 minutes as I'm starting to feel impatient because how long does it take to make pancakes? It's not like I was with anyone else, it wasn't a big order where waiting that long would be expected. They're finally brought to me and at least they were hot and freshly made. There was a smell of lemon zest which I love. The pancakes themselves tasted more like a zeppole than a pancake to me which was good, but not necessarily the kind of pancake I was craving. The iced Gotham mocha seemed to have less mocha than I have gotten in the past. And before I left I wanted to use the bathroom, only to discover someone went number two and it was smeared all over the tank as well as all over the floor behind the toilet, and the person threw some napkins over it and left, leaving other customers to discover it. Totally made me nauseous and told a manager about it. There was a line of people going to the bathroom as well, so I can't believe people were just letting this go without telling someone. read more

After a 3 year hiatus, I decided to give For Five another chance. My previous visit left a bad impression when I saw my Americano being made with tap water from a handwashing sink. That experience turned me off, but I recently returned and chose a milk based drink instead. Last week, I ordered an iced cappuccino, and the experience was pleasant. The staff member who took my order was friendly and clarified how I wanted the drink. It was served correctly with foam, as expected. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was enough to make me decide not to return. I ordered the same drink--an iced cappuccino--but received an iced latte instead. When I pointed this out and mentioned my previous order, the barista responded rudely, insisting I had ordered incorrectly. I explained that cappuccinos include foam and that I had received it that way before, but he dismissed my explanation, stating he knew better because he had worked there for four years. Although he eventually offered to remake the drink, the interaction had already made me uncomfortable, so I chose to leave. Having worked as a barista myself, I understand the difference between a latte and a cappuccino, as well as the importance of good customer service. Unfortunately, that standard was not met here. If this is how For Five trains its staff to prepare cappuccinos, then there seems to be a lack of consistency and understanding of basic coffee standards. Overall, my experience with For Five has been disappointing. It's overpriced, inconsistent in drink quality and presentation, and, most importantly, lacking in customer service. read more

Wow. I have to say the coffee here is some of the best I've had on Long Island! And definitely the best in garden city. I love that they have tasty treats on display, but also have a full menu for lunch and dinner. It's a bit overpriced, but you get what you pay for. My only suggestion would be to offer more healthy options ie salads, gluten free wraps and offer gluten free bread that's not covered in seeds (like thousands of seeds LOL). The only downside is when you order via the apps (grubhub Uber eats) there seems to be a major disconnect. My order is wrong 75% of the time. And sometimes takes double the time that's quoted. That's just bad service. They need to give the baristas/ cooks the original order. Not a re-written version, because that's where mistakes happen. read more

Not from the area and was actually looking for the French Workshop which was recommended to me by a local and could not find it. Instead I found this place and was happy I did. Everything was so delicious, service was quick and friendly. The space looks really nice to sit inside and enjoy a coffee. Ordered a plain croissant 4/5 pretty good A cake of the day which was an orange cake and was exceptional 5/5 A chocolate chip cookie 5/5 one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've had in a while. One of the reasons I really like this place is because of the chill vibe. They have high tables, low tables & couches for seating. You can sit and enjoy your food/drinks while working remote if u wish. They have an assortment of coffees, pastries breakfast eats and lunch sandwiches. The place is spacious, clean & chill. Went to grab coffee, cashier who took my order today was rude. Filled both cups 3/4 of the way up with ice even though less ice was requested. Keepin' it real out here in Garden City. Decent vibes, located on a beautiful block with a nice cozy interior, average service, and the same can be said about the food and drinks. I've visited this place three times, and the Wi-Fi didn't work all three times. On my third visit, I did a quick search through the reviews and found out that their Wi-Fi almost never works. Not a big deal to some people, but I do take things like this a little personally. I'd rather an establishment not provide Wi-Fi at all than mislead patrons by saying there's Wi-Fi, only to intentionally ensure there's no connectivity. (Just my opinion, no proof or evidence other than my experience and others' reviews.) During my second visit a month ago, I asked the staff about the Wi-Fi issue, and the barista told me to keep trying; it can be spotty at times, but it would work. Looking back, I'm pretty sure the staff is all in on this because I wasn't the only one asking about the Wi-Fi whenever I visited. Can't imagine how many people ask about it on a daily basis especially with a college nearby. Not sure if providing Wi-Fi is a mandate from headquarters, but either way, it would be much better practice to just get rid of the Wi-Fi completely instead of misleading people. I totally understand that having people sit there all day with just a small drink isn't good for business, but the Wi-Fi situation just isn't right. I really wanted to love it but I'm not sure if this place hits the mark for me. If you're coming here just for food or drink it's great, I am mostly rating this as a place to study/do work because it's my primary reason for visiting. There's a great selection of food and drinks, but it is fairly pricy. They have a long list of breakfast and lunch items. Food is tasty and they have some nutritious options. Chicken Caesar sandwich (rating 4/5), falafel salad (4/5). Drinks are decent. I've had the hibiscus iced tea (4/5) and matcha latte (3/5). For context of price I paid $24 just for the sandwich (including tax) and $8 for a small matcha latte with macadamia milk. So much seating available indoors and outdoors. The interior is beautiful, very clean, and the staff does a great job with cleaning tables once patrons leave. There are outlets everywhere, which theoretically makes it the perfect place to sit down and do some work!! Problem is I always seem to have wifi issues when I go there. My devices seem to connect to the wifi but then the wifi does not work? The staff has been helpful in resetting the wifi but seeing that it's persistently an issue I am less likely to end up here. :( I saw another reviewer saying she leaves feeling robbed and this is kind of similar to what I feel, lol, after spending a hefty penny on food+drink I always end up leaving earlier than intended because of the wifi issues. read more

Met up with a good friend of mine to catch up. She absolutely loves this place so I was convinced to meet up here for an early lunch. Aesthetics 10/10, nice vibe. I was a little thrown off because I expected to sit first and have food brought to us but you go up to the counter to order food then sit down and wait for it to come to table. I don't drink coffee so I chose coconut water with my falafel sandwich which comes with a small salad with dressing tossed in. The falafel was fresh, nice toasted pita, very tasty tzatziki sauce. There is plenty of different types of seating inside and they have a back outdoor seating area as well as outdoor seating up front. This place is a scam. My large cold brew and yogurt bowl came to $30. The yogurt bowl is advertised as $15 something on the printed menu but I was charged $19. Photos are what is advertised vs what I got :( It was a bowl of plain yogurt with some plain granola, some almond silvers, 6 blueberries, 2 sliced strawberries and a sliced banana. It says it comes with chia seeds and hemp seeds -- none on it. The granola tasted plain like Nature Valley granola you get at the store, not "chocolate coffee granola" as advertised (and definitely looks different than photo). It tasted fine but I'm guessing the whole thing costs a few dollars to make. It should be $8-10 instead, if that. Cold brew also doesn't taste great They also charge a 4% service fee on top of their exorbitant prices! They have nice seating, but WiFi shuts off at random and employees aren't very interested in fixing it read more
