Came here for a quick breakfast with my friend and I was glad we came. She just moved into the Hempstead area and wanted something close. This was such a good choice. They had a big parking lot in the rear and there was a back entrance. The service, food and prices were great. The place is a no frills old fashioned diner right on Fulton in Hempstead. Staff is bilingual and the place was very clean. I enjoyed my breakfast combo with pancakes, eggs, ham and home fries. My friend got the steak omelette and it was delicious. Come support this local cafe in Hempstead, NY!

Was getting my car serviced about half a mile up the road and found this place on Yelp and decided to take a walk and get some breakfast. Excellent decision on my part. Clean, old school lunchenette with attentive service. Had a short stack of pancakes, two sunnyside up eggs, bacon and cheese grits. Awesome breakfast. I'll definitely pop in again when getting my car serviced up the road.

    Great!

This is the best diner! I came all the way from Brooklyn. Small , clean and great hospitality..

This place, is a Hempstead staple, the breakfast is all I ever had here, they fell off a little a few years ago, but they definitely redeemed themselves, because the breakfast is on point.

Atmosphere: warm, bright, friendly. Comfy booths, plenty of seating. Wall to wall mirrors! Very clean and neat. Classic little neighborhood diner. It was busy around 10:30 Sunday morning. Seemed like lots of returning regulars, always a good sign. Staff: welcoming, cheerful, polite, prompt, attentive. Menus and coffee arrived immediately, and an order-taker came back after sufficient time to peruse the selections. A two-man crew delivered the food and we were later checked on. Food: coffee was fresh and hot, with a cool little pitcher of cream and free refill. Real butter is served. Eggs over easy were perfect, breakfast meats tasty and not over salty, home fries were insane; light brown crispy with soft peppers and onions cooked in nice fresh oil, you could tell. The sure test of excellent home fries is, I had no desire to add ketchup. I agree the grits needed salt, but the texture was really good, and my husband just stirs his egg yolk right into the grits and he's a happy camper. Pancakes were golden brown heaven, moist and fluffy, and here again you didn't need or want to drown them in syrup. Prices: very wallet-friendly. Parking: side streets or rear lot from which you can enter. Bathroom: teeny, unisex, clean, mirrored walls. The food took a bit longer than average to arrive, but definitely worth the wait and does not affect the rating. Loved it and hope to return.

The staff is all great however the food is a bit mid. Also there's people who randomly comes into the restaurant trying to sell dvds and different items. I definitely wouldn't fully recommend this restaurant

I went this AM and food was great. It has a home-like/old/traditional feel. I ordered a Western omelette and breakfast potatoes. My sister had eggs over medium with sausage and cheese grits, we shared a waffle. Everything was good. Ingrid, our waitress was attentive and sweet. She realized we were newbies to the diner and welcomed us. I'll be going again.

I enjoyed my breakfast and will definitely be back! The staff was very nice and accommodating as well.

Me and a friend came here after wanting to try a new breakfast place. We were so satisfied and we will definitely return. Being here gave us a warm, friendly, homey vibe. The waitress was very attentive and hospitable. The food was amazing and tasted like my mom's big Sunday breakfast. I had pancakes, eggs, sausage and grits. The food was steaming hot when it came out. Super plus! The coffee was delicious, fresh and hot! I can't wait to go back

Great little deli, a few seats, reasonable prices. Nothing fancy - exactly as it should be. Easy walk to the courthouse.

Well, that day finally came, and I'm so glad it did! First off, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance alone makes it feel like a special night out. Our waitress, Milessa, was amazing, super friendly, attentive, and very professional. She really added to the experience. We tried three different menu items. While two of them were a little too spicy for my personal taste, the sliders were my favorite, full of flavor and perfectly done. And I can't forget dessert, the warm pecan pie with ice cream was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, a great experience with excellent service and a gorgeous setting. I'm happy we finally stopped in and would definitely come back (maybe asking for mild next time ).

The restaurant has a beautiful, bright, modern atmosphere that feels much more upscale than its surroundings. Based on other reviews, the standout dishes seemed to be the grilled Spanish octopus and the SB Smash Burger, so I ordered both. Unfortunately, the execution fell short in several areas. The East Coast oysters arrived with mignonette but without horseradish or oyster forks--small details, but noticeable oversights. The oysters, octopus, and burger were all tasty, but the presentation of octopus and burger was surprisingly sloppy, as though little attention had been paid when the dishes left the kitchen. The bar also was understaffed. A single bartender was serving both the bar and the entire dining room, which led to waits for drinks. My bartender was friendly, attentive, and worked hard, but one person simply wasn't enough. I finished with the Key Lime Custard, which had what appeared to be a layer of shredded cereal on the bottom. I wasn't sure what it was. The dessert itself was enjoyable, though I think a base of toasted sliced almonds with a few fried blueberries on top of it would have added better texture and complemented the flavors more effectively. One nice perk is the validated valet parking, for a reduced fee, which makes arriving and leaving especially convenient given the mall location. The whiskey selection could also be improved by adding a few more interesting, off-the-beaten-path single malts or blends. Overall, the kitchen shows promise! And perhaps I came on an off night. With better attention to presentation, appropriate bar staffing, and a more adventurous choice of spirits, Small Batch could deliver an experience that better matches its reputation.

I went with one of my friends. We both had the mochas and I had a shot of espresso because the book recommended it. The espresso was good, not overly bitter, pretty much just right. The mocha was amazing a good ratio of chocolate, coffee and espresso. It was pretty busy here and the atmosphere was nice. The snacks looked really good maybe one day I'll go back for a pastry. The elitist attitude continued throughout the transaction; she couldn't be bothered to tell me which beans she was using, and once the coffee was finished, she didn't even acknowledge me or announce that the drink was ready. It's a shame when a shop's "gatekeeping" attitude ruins the experience. There is no excuse for treating customers with that much contempt. I won't be returning to a place that makes me feel like an inconvenience for ordering a coffee.

The restaurant is clean, and the service is friendly. The food and menu, however, weren't really to my liking. Not knowing that this was a health-conscious restaurant, when I was asked if I wanted something to drink, I replied with "Diet Coke." That's when our server explained the health concept of the place and mentioned that they didn't carry soda. I was a bit confused because of the amount of alcohol I saw on the menu and at the bar after hearing about the health angle. He suggested a drink similar to ginger ale, but since that drink would cost more than a beer, I went with the beer instead. Now, moving on to the food: the charred cauliflower wasn't bad (could've used a bit more char), but the main dishes were disappointing. The tuna poke bowl didn't look appetizing, and the rice didn't seem fully cooked. The all-American burger also missed the mark. I asked for it medium-well, but it was closer to medium. It wasn't terrible in terms of cooking, but it lacked flavor. I'm not sure if the burger was properly seasoned, because all I tasted was cooked ground beef, a bit of Thousand Island dressing, and bread. The fries were okay--not bad for a restaurant that chooses to air-fry instead of deep-fry to be healthier. However, the ketchup, which I had to request, tasted like standard commercial ketchup. It didn't have the "smoky, tangy with the right amount of kick" flavor described on the company's Instagram.

The flavors were so perfectly balanced. It taste of the toasted sweet potato gnocchi was something I didn't expect but was pleasantly surprised. Kept it more simple for entrees because the starters were so rich and indulgent. We had the filet mignon and the steak sandwich. Both perfectly portioned and delicious. Ended with the stroopwafel cheesecake, it wasn't too sweet which was nice. The service was great, I love how the manger was so hands on and checking in with tables. There was an older couple nearby celebrating their anniversary and the manager came over and surprised them with a mini bottle of champagne and congratulated them. That really was so thoughtful! Definitely top tier care and service.
