The place stands out among North Shore cafes. It is the perfect spot for a pick me up anytime of year, especially because they make such killer seasonal drinks! There truly aren't any weak points on their menu, in my opinion. The coffee is killer, the baked goods are delicious, and the ice cream and unexpectedly FIRE. My go-to drink is The Founder. The staff is always super patient and sweet, don't be shy to ask for second opinions when torn on what to order. They know what they're doing! The atmosphere is lovely to work in and will have you taking out your phone to snap a pic or two. I love how they feature local art and sell home goods and trinkets. Lots to look at while waiting for your order. My only qualm is the parking situation, despite being out of their control. Tight street parking. read more

The hot and iced coffee here is great as well as the other beverages they serve such as the berry iced tea with lemonade and seltzer (called The Penny.). Comfortable ambiance that is well lit with nice decor. The two workers were efficient and their jobs well. They made great avocado toast! I am just taking off one star because it would have helped the atmosphere of the shop if they were friendlier in disposition. Not that they were unfriendly or rude, just very business-like in a place that has a local and quaint feel to it. But definitely would come back! read more

I was excited when I saw that this coffee shop had specialty and seasonal coffees on their menu but the salted caramel latte was sub par. It was too sweet and milky. Going easy on the caramel might help. I got the Founder to bring home for my boyfriend and that one was better but nothing special. Typical oatmilk latte. Nice cafe in Locust Valley. Perfect place to chill out on a hot summer's day. Friendly staff, calm environment, and old school beats. The Garden Club drink is iced matcha with lavender and rose flavors. It tastes sweet but not too sweet and really hits the spot. They also occasionally have ice cream and cones for serving as well as a serve yourself/community book cart. Take a book and put one back. Lots of good story books available for the avid readers. Cute gifts on shelves help realign the space to form the entry way and separate it from the dining area. The bathroom is at the back. Wall art is for sale. And two tables and chairs for outside seating. There's also a bar height table and seating by the windows. The radiator is there, so it might get a little warm in cooler months. I wish I could do a half star but I guess I'll choose the 1 star... I went into this shop for an iced cortado with lite maple but was given an iced latte with heavy maple. When I expressed it was incorrect, the barista rolled her eyes & begrudgingly made me a new one. After she "fixed" it- it was still wrong; probably sugared to cover up the burnt espresso. The tables had crumbs on them and the whole cafe felt scattered and cluttered. Won't be going back. read more

Came here after a stroll at the Japanese gardens close by and what a cute place. My son is still obsessed with the dinosaur egg he got from here like 2 weeks ago. In my attempt to try out all local Long Island coffee shops like I'm trying to Catch'Em All™, I found myself drawn to Karmic Grind. (and my drawn I mean, I drove 20 mins out of my way to visit) Parking is street parking, but surprisingly easy to find a spot on a late Saturday morning. Despite the exterior, inside is plenty spacious with tables and chairs and merchandise and ice cream! There are quite a few delectable pastries to choose from, even Doughnut Plant donuts. Which is an immediate win in my book. But alas, I opted for just an iced salted caramel latte instead. Honestly, its one of the most luxurious lattes I have ever tasted. On par with the Burnt Caramel Latte at Druthers. Its a wonderfully sweet and salty caramel flavor in every sip (on account that it is actual caramel used in each latte!). And you know its legit when the final sips of the latte were just straight up salt. (so just be warned about that). But overall, I'm sad that I live quite a bit of ways away from this shop. Because its options are high quality and I am anxiously awaiting the next time I get to try it out! read more

I came here with my friend for our weekly Sunday morning debrief to try a new coffee shop. I got a lavender latte and I wanted an egg sandwich, but they were all out. The coffee was okay. I got a large (pictured) and it was kinda small for how much it cost. My friend got the avocado toast and it was just smashed avocado on white bread, like something you could make at home. As for the ambiance, I am not a fan off all the tchotchkes they are trying to sell inside. However, I do like the branding on all the cups and the large logo in the back of the store. read more

Came here between hikes at Shu Swamp Preserve to the Japanese Stroll Garden and it was great! A little pricy but warm and friendly staff and tasty food. We got there at the perfect time before it got too too crowded but you could see why it's so popular. There's a lot of lovely artwork and a small retail space. Great coffee. Not a place I'd traditionally grab dinner from as its more an option for coffee, breakfast or lunch. But the food. Holy crud. It's fantastic. You have to turn sideways to walk in the front door because of all the merchandise clutter, thats not good. Definitely an issue if god forbid there was a fire. Street parking only. Lovely store, very cute and Warm atmosphere, bought 2 coffees and a muffin.
