I just bought a new Forester from this dealership, and I had armored myself with used car buying advice from my brother who is a 2-time Subaru owner, from an electrical engineer who used to work at a major U.S. automaker in Motor City, and from a former car salesman - not to mention years of Car Talk, my own personal inclinations to being a gearhead, and countless visits to websites with links to safety reports and insider info. I was prepared for the sell, and yes, I got sold. I got sold the car I wanted in the color I wanted with the options and accessories I wanted at a price that I think is more than fair for the quality of the vehicle I purchased which I know is as environmentally responsible as possible (PZEV from a zero waste factory), safe, and also fun (Boxer engine) and stylish (red dash lights! lit indicator bars!). Anthony took me on my test drive and ultimately sold me my car with no hassle by not only giving me the price I wanted but without having to spend hours haggling over points and extended warranties and payments. He told me about the IN factory (which I already knew about), but I didn't know about PZEV (90% cleaner emissions than industry average). And he just seemed like a nice guy (I mean everyone here did). And Dave! I can't forget Dave! I never knew I could have so much fun filling out dumb paperwork. Triplicate forms to take off a sticker or some such crap. Ask him his opinion on the current state of album oriented rock. He'll have an answer. And the dealership. It's a bit off the beaten path. My mom noticed how many plants are in the showroom. I found out later that night that it turns out it's a cleaner, greener building than the one they just moved out of, and watch out! Looking at the saLes department reviews of them are not that bad. pLease, just do not have your treasured Subaru vehicLe brought to them for repair. with due respect to the service receptionist staff, ( Tamara and Elizabeth - they handLe issues professionaLLy and very courteousLy ) they misdiagnosed, forgot to instaLL back my skid pLate and faiLed to fix the probLem the first time. they wanted me to drive back ( i am 1.5hrs away ) to have them instaLL it. i toLd them it is not convenient for me to doubLe back. they agreed to have the skid pLate maiLed to me. i received it 9 days Later, which made me drive 10 days totaL without it protecting her engine bay. took it back for another compLete rediagnosis, apparentLy, i was toLd by the service manager ( Dick Dio ) they missed one part that needed repLacement, charged me for the Labor cost ( again ) which in certainty it was their mix up for missing to repair it the first occasion when they got to working to repair the initiaL troubLe that my STi was having. Not specify forgetting to instaLL the tremendous part that returns underneath to shield my motor from rough roads / street rocks / debris and hazzards. my STi was stiLL having the same initiaL troubLe the first time i had brought it to them in the first pLace and worst. now, it is making a chirping / grinding noises upon start up and every time i have to power the engine up from being parked, going from point A to B. i immediateLy informed the service department staff. it took awhiLe for their service director ( Dick Hansen ) to get back to me which feLt Like months. because apparentLy they are busy taLking to other customer/s probabLy having to expLain or Lie to them the issues these customers are having with the service repair they have / had with their repair/s. their soLution? to have me bring the car back the third time. because, i was toLd that who doesn't make mistakes. and why am i compLaining, do i want them to be fired by the owner or their generaL manager ( Dick Dodden )? but, seriousLy? for a business that runs auto repair are they suppose to make these kind of mistakes or threats? i do not think so. i firmLy decLined. i beLieve businesses who are at fauLt shouLd make things right. but, this Subaru deaLership has a Customer Serves Us Department and no Customer Service Department imposed. so, i am Left with Looking to have a third party ( ELk Groove ) Look at what they had missed and what eLse to forgot to do or did not do. and charged them for aLL the damages my car had incurred from their incompetence. i was Left hanging. just from my personaL experience with this company which i had been taking my '04 STi, to, for reguLar preventive maintenance for the past 7 years. and this is what happened when i had it for a repair just this March 2018. it is now haLf past June 2018. my car is cLearLy a testament of how poor and negLigent, conceited this Repair Customer Serves Us Department were and what was done to her. read more

Now I understand that what has to be done needs to be done but the car salesmen didn't say anything about that then when we called they didn't offer any apologizes or offer any discounts for a car we literally had just bought. It's kinda crazy to drive to Livermore or Sacramento to get anything done for your car. (Though, Livermore is on the way to Hayward...) It's funny how this place is tucked away in the WAAAY back of the Auto Center. This place is big. Big enough to showcase couple cars, have a nice cozy customer lounge spot (with television and a computer), luxury bathrooms and a decent size customer service area. The people there are super nice. I had a bad experience with them yesterday. I purchased a car from them last October and I was in the market for another vehicle. Their website gave me an MSRP price on a car, then a sale price but also offered a Modesto Subaru price, which triggered me to input my information for them to contact me. When they contacted me, the salesperson said that was the final price, however if I had a lower offer from someone else to let him know as he could maybe talk to his General Manager (Reggie) to see if he could give me some sort of discount given I was a returning customer. I asked him rather than going back and forth why didn't he talk to his GM yesterday and save me the trouble given I was a returning Customer. His response, well you are already talking to another dealership therefore see if they can do better. At that point I ended the conversation. I called again and asked to speak to Reggie, he told me his sales person was correct in that it was the final price. Again, no acknowledgement or apology for their website being misleading...NOTHING. He then asked me what was it that I was looking for since I clearly had a number in mind. Keep in mind I did not, but what I wanted was a better offer than the one online and since I was not being given any specific reason as to why they could not honor something was the reason I kept asking. Also keep in mind this EXACTLY the process in which I purchased my first Subaru from there, a price, a sales price and a Modesto price. He then asked me if $500 will make me happy, I said yes it shows some initiative to want to do business, but his tone was rude and condescending. He said and I quote" Well IF the car is here and IF I am here when you come here on Sunday I will take off $500 off the car" but he wanted a commitment from me. I don't feel I need to commit to this kind of attitude of IFs. It is unfortunate his attitude was so horrible. It is clear to me this dealership's core values are not in favor of the Customer. I will not shop here again. If I was treated like this by the GM, no wonder the culture there is to treat customers as irrelevant. read more

Follow up Manager called me on Monday 5 days after I originally cald to talk with him. He was courteous and apologetic since my granddaughter was on her way to finally pickup her car he promised he would give her a car wash and fill up her gas tank. He did not and in fact when she got there they could not find her car or the paperwork finally awhile later they found the car no carwash no fillup. She was ok with it but it agravated me that the man is not true to his word. He called 2 hours later and said he was called to a meeting and didn't get it done but would send a gift card to make up for it, now a week later and no gift card. You have lost a customer sir and now I know why the rest of your organization is the way it is BAD Service Starts at the top. Alex was very helpful and had great customer service skills. I called at 3 pm and told him that my wife and I would be going over at 7:30. I told him I was interested in a car I saw online and he said it was still there. After we hung up he sent me some photos of the car. We arrived at 7:30 pm and I texted him letting him know I had arrived. He pulled up to me in the lot in the car I was interested in. We test drove it and end up getting that make and model. Received letter from Subaru regarding Outback needed a software update. The car was purchased in Livermore, but the closest dealership from Stockton is in Modesto. Everyone was super friendly. The waiting area had a big flat screen TV and comfy chairs. So comfy that I almost fell asleep. Oh, and the snacks....lots of goodies, healthy and not so much...either way I was satisfied. Very clean dealership, even the bathroom earned some "oohs and aahs." The car was done in an hour, just as promised. These guys are great. Found a good used truck online and I liked what I saw. Sent an email over to the guys over there and George Kramer was the one to reply back very quickly. exchanged a handful of emails, he answered every question and also texted me some specific photos that I wanted, and I was confident the truck was what I wanted. As I live 5 hours away, logistics played a large hand. Luckily an AMTRAK is close to the dealer and George even offered to pick me up! Too cool. I show up and sure enough George is already there waiting for us. He brought us to the dealer, offered us beverages, showed us the car and never used any high pressure sales tactics. He let us spend some time in the car and look around. Truck looked and felt great. I did not find the IPOD/AUX connection that was advertised online, so that was a bummer. The truck had air-bags in the rear that did not work, and when trying the front winch, again no-go. I let those things go as there was nothing I could do, and took the truck for a test drive. Again no high-pressure sales tactics, just letting my go over the car. Got back to the dealer and I liked the car, but I was ready to walk just because I did not know the extent the the compressor and winch issues. George almost instantaneously made the situation right and we made the deal. Went in for the paperwork and while lengthy, it was handled great. I dealt with the finance lady and she was very nice, she even offered an ongoing special they had that I did not know about, lowering my APR! They did try and throw in a warranty which I declined, but I could not get away from the SAFE-GUARD thing they have going. This is the only reason it's a 4 star and not 5-star review. They push it as if it's mandatory, though it is not. I tried to take it off and they told me it was already laser etched on the car and no way to take it off. What it is is they charge the customer $250 for this "laser etching" to prevent theft, but it really is just a way for the dealer to make an extra 100 as the company probaly only charges them 100-150 for the service. I later find out I could have declined the SERVICE safeguard provides as a part of the $250. But whatever, 250 out the window. Other then that, great experience. Just stop nickel and diming customers. They're already paying lots of money for the car. read more

They had my car for over three weeks before beginning repairs and never once offered me a loaner car during that three week period . Mind you my car was under warranty. Modesto Subaru has been awesome in every way. We purchased our 03 WRX from Livermore when it was new (still running strong!). Being from Stockton, it was great when Modesto Subaru opened up. I do most of the maintenance and work on our car but have had it into the shop a few times, every time has been a positive experience. The staff is very friendly and they go the extra mile, which is rare in any service industry anymore (sadly). Their valet service is great. On a couple of occasions they've dropped off the loaner vehicle (in Stockton) and taken our car, all at no charge. The car is always washed and vacuumed when we get it back. We recently had a fuel line replaced which was covered by Subaru due to it being a known issue. Not only did they replace the fuel line, they replaced a headlamp bulb, a couple other auxillary bulbs, and even buffed out a blem on one fender that was caused by a rub in the parking garage. All of this at no cost. I've never had that kind of service anywhere. Subaru is a stand up company, they deserve 5 stars and it's part of the reason we'll be lifelong Subaru owners. read more

We arrive at Modesto Subaru where we received horrible news about our new car that would set us back 3 to 4 days. These guys were great enough to loan us a 2013 outback to finish our camping trip into Yosemite for a couple of days while they fixed our car. When we got back even more bad news almost $5,000 to get our car fixed and another 2 days. No way! What are our options at this point, right? Lets get a new car. these guys were amazing in giving us a break on trading our car in for a new 2016 Subaru Forester. And in no time we were back on the road visiting friends in Albuquerque, NM and Denver, CO. This was the worst vacation experience that ended..well ended up being one of the best. Whenever we called They were rude and never gave straight answers. Jesus - Sales consultant was excellent. Of course since I was just shopping and wasn't buying that day "his?" sales manager, Lapon came over to pressure me. Fine, all car dealerships are the same in this. However being told to vote yes for some bill so that car dealerships are required to close sundays so that he can spend time at church and with his family is horrible. Not only is it discriminitory (I guess Jewish people with Saturday sabbaths don't count) it's quite offensive to individuals that don't need religion or politics to buy a car. This sales manager made me very uncomfortable and although I will probably buy a Subaru I will make sure it is NOT at this location read more
