I took my 2015 VW Jetta TDI SE to this "Dealership" in April to figure out a problem with the 6 Speed transmission. It was having difficulty shifting into 3rd gear & I had been skipping it for about a month after getting the clutch replaced. They determined the transmission was worn out & needed to be replaced. A new transmission would cost approx $11,000, or used about $5,000. They ordered a used transmission that would be shipped from Florida. It was delivered a couple weeks later & installed the day after. On my way home I noticed the rpm window for shifting about +1,000 prior to the swap. Also, in general higher rpm's to achieve the same speed. I returned the next morning & told them the difference. I was then told there was 14 different transmissions & no way of knowing if it was the correct transmission until installed. I knew that wasn't correct. They advised me to take the old transmission to a shop & have it repaired, & they would install it for no charge. (I had already paid in full $5,500 approx.) I called around, checked online & a place called me from Texas letting me know they had the correct transmission(used) & had tested it for $1500. I paid & had them ship it to me. They delivered it about a week later. I took it to CV VW the next day & took the Jetta the day after & they told me they were too busy to do it that day(nobody mentioned this the day before when I told them I would return 'tomorrow' with the Jetta). They scheduled me for a day about a week & a half later. They swapped out the transmissions, & offered no refund of any kind & kept the transmission they ordered & installed that was not correct. I knew the VIN number indicates what transmission is in the Jetta & that's how I knew the 1 I found was correct & also saw the ID engraved on it that confirmed this. The transmission installed that I found & delivered to them was correct & working exactly as the original. After contacting the BAR(bureau of automotive repair) & getting them involved, I was offered the amount of the transmission that I paid for as a refund. I knew this didn't seem completely fair, but I really wanted the whole nightmare over so I accepted. I'm waiting for the check now & will edit this if it doesn't show up. But, I wanted anyone considering taking their VW to this "Dealership" to know this to help them make their decision. I will from now on go to VW of Merced when I need an actual Dealership. read more
