Even after explaining multiple times that I did not want to run my credit again, I was told it was "required" or "the only way" to proceed, which was later contradicted by my lender's instructions. I also requested real photos of the specific truck I was interested in on three separate occasions because the listing only showed generic stock images online. I never received clear or direct photos of the actual vehicle, which made it difficult to confidently evaluate what was being sold. I normally try to be patient and understanding with repair delays, especially on modern vehicles with electrical/module issues, but I'm honestly disappointed with the communication and handling of my current warranty repair experience at American Chevrolet in Modesto. I purchased my 2022 Tahoe from this dealership and for years this has been the place where I have consistently brought my vehicles for service and maintenance. I've always trusted the dealership and continued servicing my Tahoe here because I believed I would be taken care of properly. I brought my Tahoe in on 5/14/2026 after receiving transmission/electrical warning messages. The vehicle is still under a GM Protection Plan warranty (under 75k miles). Since then, I've been told different things including possible battery issues, communication faults, and now a possible brake module issue, but after more than a week the vehicle still has not been fully diagnosed or repaired. My biggest concern has been the lack of communication. I repeatedly had to call myself for updates instead of receiving courtesy follow-up calls. I was initially told the repair timeline would be much shorter, then later informed the Tahoe would not be ready until at least Tuesday 5/26/2026. At the same time, I was told I needed to return the rental vehicle or begin paying additional rental charges out of pocket, even though the delay is completely outside of my control and the diagnosis is still ongoing. Returning the rental would leave me without transportation for several days while my Tahoe remains unavailable, including days I need transportation for work. I understand diagnostics can take time, especially electrical/network-related issues, and I have remained patient and cooperative throughout the process. I'm simply asking for fair communication, reasonable rental assistance during a warranty repair delay, and clearer expectations from the dealership. My vehicle was serviced at American Chevrolet in Modesto, CA for the coolant system. A leak has now recurred, requiring me to bring the car to CB Chevy, as my daughter does not live in the area. I had specifically requested that both dealerships coordinate and that the diagnostic fee be adjusted, since this problem is directly related to the work completed in December, which was reported as functioning properly and no coolant leaks noted on the invoice. During this process, I had to spend work hours on the phone,manage meetings and my daughter was carless while the car sat at the dealership, as both sides disagreed over a $249 diagnostic fee. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of collaboration and support from both dealerships. Hello everyone, my experience was pretty bad! I dropped off my car on a Monday for two recalls, pretty simple to fix according to the dealership service advisor. According to the service advisor my Camaro would be ready by Wednesday of the same week, however day after day nobody would call me for any update on my car. Fast forward to the following week, I literally had to call them 3 times to finally get an exact answer on when I could pick up my vehicle. Finally I picked up my car on Tuesday afternoon around 5 pm. 9 days later??? So I got an email on how satisfied I was with my experience, obviously I didn't appreciate to be without my car for 9 consecutive days for two simple recalls! So I asked if for the inconvenience they could wax my car and guess what? They said no way could they possibly do that under no circumstances? I made an appointment to get my transmission fluid flushed (which was noted when I made the appointment and confirmed exactly what we needed done) for 1:30 yesterday. I got there at 1:00, and the man who greeted me kept trying to upsell me on different things. I explained several times that I was only going to get the service I requested and didn't need anything else done, as we had just bought the truck and the dealer that sold it to us would be paying for this service. He continued to try to upsell, and said that "well the people that owned this truck before might have towed it so if you want to be safe then you should get a new filter" among some other things. After he realized that I wasn't going to budge, he went back and talked to some other people and came back to tell me that they didn't have time to do this, as it could take anywhere from an hour to four hours. I told him that this was a three hour round trip drive for me and I would really like to get the service done today, I didn't mind waiting, and I don't have another day soon that I could drive all the way back here. He went to talk to someone again and came back and said they wouldn't do it. I told him that when I scheduled the appointment, the person who scheduled me was fully aware of the exact service I needed done and did not say that they wouldn't have time. At this point, he proceeded to tell me that I should have asked for a manager to make sure that there was time for the service. Multiple times, he tried to place the blame on me for their mistake. He spoke to me as if I was stupid and did not even once try to make it right, and instead told me that I should have known that they wouldn't have "the man power" to get it done. I think they had a fair price, and were happy to do the little things I was asking for with little repairs. I think they are not as meticulous with used cars and did not have an eye on little things - so if your buying a used car I do recommend getting your own eyes on it. The did little easy repairs and support super easily. They were easy to talk to and sent me information every time I needed it. I really loved working with Manny & Hector. Things I noted - My used car did not have the small issues noted obviously - rip in leather, and crack in passenger door handle. - All were reasonable damage for a used car, just wish they were more obvious with the issues in the listing sales process - didn't feel like they were hiding it - like I said before - just felt like they were not as detailed as I prefer. I had all the support in the sale I made, and they were able to match my rate from another lender, so that was pretty amazing. If anything stood out it was the accommodation for small reasonable requests and issues. I hate to post a poor review but I'm not real happy with my experience at American Chevrolet. Drove out from Tracy to look at a 2500HD. They had the truck listed just over MSRP at $59K and some change. After our test drive I made an offer of $55K. I've seen other dealers list the vehicle at around $56K and would have been happy to manage a deal near that price. The sales person said that the sales manager would tell him to "get the f**k out of his office" if he brought that to him. He told me they weren't going to budge on the price... "maybe a couple hundred bucks if that helps us out." Really, when the truck was listed over MSRP? We drove down to Clovis (Hendricks Chevrolet) the next business day and purchased the exact same vehicle for $56K. We were very happy with Hendricks Chevrolet. My experience purchasing my vehicle was okay. The sales person was kind and informative. I didn't try to haggle and came with my financing already arranged. So, it was as good as anywhere else. The service department though is AWFUL. I really wish I wouldn't have purchased a vehicle here. I never had a problem getting service at Toyota or Lexus. Here, they never have appointments available at times when I can come. I commute out of the area for work. So the days/times I am able to come are limited. I've tried scheduling months in advance and then they always end up cancelling for one reason or another. I have tried scheduling service online and either their system is down or I schedule only for them to call me later and tell me the appointment is not available. I've tried calling on the phone to schedule and then when I get there the service is not scheduled properly. Because of this, I will not purchase another Chevrolet. We tried to get them to exchange our battery because it's still under warranty. They said we had to bring our in our vehicle or they couldn't help us. I purchased a used vehicle from this dealership 3 weeks ago the experience was dreadful. I'm a veteran and an educator. I was told "their dealership does not participate in those programs". This was a $50,000 vehicle and they couldn't be bothered to give me the $500 discount that I later confirmed was a GM nationwide discount. This dealer lied to me just to make a buck. They also attempted to tack on $7800 in add ons while I was signing on the car. When I told them I did not want these items, I was hit with, "come on man it's the cost of a cup of coffee every month, are you going to be cheap like that?". Marcos was also very unprofessional while I was speaking with the salesman. He was cussing and swearing about somebody he was beefing with. This was all in front of my young daughter. I've been a loyal customer of American Chevrolet for over 30 years, but after my recent experience, I will no longer be using their services. I dropped off my truck for warranty and recall service, and in the five days it was there, not once did the service advisor reach out to provide an update. I had to call every single day for information. When I did get an update, it was about a completely different vehicle--not mine. There was also no communication regarding the need to keep the vehicle overnight, leaving me scrambling to make transportation arrangements. On the next day, after I requested an update, I still received no call back. Eventually, I was informed that the AC compressor needed to be replaced and that the warranty parts would be expedited, but they would need to keep the vehicle over the weekend. Again, I requested a status update the following Monday morning, but once again, no response. I had to call again that evening, where I was put on hold while the advisor "tracked down" the parts. Finally, I was told that the parts had never been ordered and that the AC compressor was on back order, with an anticipated wait time of about a month. At this point, I had lost all confidence in the service advisor and asked to pick up my vehicle so I could take it to another dealership. The advisor refused, stating that the parts had already been ordered that day. When I insisted on taking my vehicle elsewhere, I was told I would be charged $414 for diagnostics. I now feel like my vehicle is being held hostage, forcing me to continue service with this facility despite their poor communication and lack of professionalism. read more
