Greg and company has worked on 3 of my cars. An electrical issues on a BMW that was been running great ever since, a Nissan that was diagnosed , and a catalytic converter change on a Mazda. Most of the fluids on the Mazda plus a door fix. Waited a bit to see if any issues would come up , but 30 days later I'm still happy. Fair pricing , and good honest work. Stopped by Salida Auto Repair a week ago to inquire about possible repairs on my 2016 Ford 6.7 Diesel that was leaking coolant. Talked with Gregory Brand and made arrangements to leave my truck on Friday 4/11/25. I actually dropped off my truck on 4/10 in order for their mechanic to start on it first thing the next day. I received a phone call about 12 noon advising me of the repair that would be needed (coolant hose from radiator to fuel cooler) and they were going to check with the dealer for parts. The initial estimate would be about $925.00. I ok'd the repairs. They are closed on weekends. I received a phone call at about 4:00 pm on Monday 4/14/25 that the repair had been completed and the final amount was lower than the initial estimate. Absolutely love this auto shop!! I'm very skeptical and sussed out because I've been charged extra or unnecessarily charged for expenses which sucks and I HATE having to call my dad to confirm if it's honest. But this place..... oh this place. Parking is pretty easy, it's Salida so it really isn't an issue. I needed a smog pass to renew my registration and needed it in a hurry. They accommodated me right away and I loved the quick and prompt service. Mechanics were nice and had the little chit chat with me. But I'm writing this review because of Greg/Craig! Smog check was about 30ish minutes and I had a very wholesome and deep conversation with him! Not a lot of people would want to talk about random things like what we saw on the news, but HE SURE DID AND THANK YOU! It means a lot when the customer service is customer centric and Greg/Craig understood the assignment! Price was affordable too!! I want to give a huge shout out for this place and it's owner, Greg. This is a shop that a woman can go in on her own and feel that she is not being taken advantage of. His pricing is really reasonable. They are very professional. Greg always calls with his diagnosis/estimates for car trouble and confirms that you want the work done. Took it in got the fluid changed and my A/C serviced. I noticed last summer it was running hot and cold. Just picked up my car. He came in way underneath his estimate. Another oil change location thought they broke my hood release cable and recommended Salida Auto Repair. I pulled in 15 minutes before closing in 100°+ heat. I explained the issue and that I'm leaving for a cross country road trip in the morning. The owner was happy to take a look. He spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out how to get the hood open and finally diagnosed the cable wasn't broken but had come off the disconnect door. **Update** I feel the need to update my review after my last experience with Greg and his staff at Salida Auto Repair. I brought my Ford F-150 over to Greg to change the spark plugs. Now I only have about 80,000 miles on the truck but the original spark plugs are two piece and are known to break during extraction. Greg was completely familiar with this issue and had the extraction tool should one of the plugs break. I purchased the new spark plugs via Amazon so he only charged me for the labor, which was lower than his competitors. The truck needed to stay at the shop over night as the plugs needed to soak in carb cleaner as to minimize possible breakage. The next day Greg calls me and let's me know the truck is done. I let him know that I am stuck in traffic and will not be there before closing. Greg says, "No problem, I will wait for you". So, I arrive about 15 minutes after the shop is closed and there is Greg waiting for me with a smile. After a little conversation I hop in my truck and uh oh, it is running really rough. I tell Greg who grabs his scanner and he tells me one of the cylinders is miss firing. He tells me to bring it back the next morning. The next morning I drop the truck off. Greg calls me a few hours later and says that one of the spark plugs that I supplied was bad causing the miss fire. So I swing by Auto Zone and pick up another one and Greg puts it in and all is well. A word of advice, don't bring in your own parts. Let Greg handle it, he will warranty whatever he puts in. Greg could have told me to come by the next day when I was stuck in traffic. He could have easily charged me for pulling out the plugs again and finding the bad plug then installing the new one. He didn't, he just smiled and worked to make this customer happy no matter what. Greg and his crew are truly a cut above any other shop that I have been to. The customer service is exceptional and Greg is one of the nicest and most honest guys you will ever find. 1st. Their customer service was excellent. Greg explained to me that he was extremely busy but still bring my son's car down. He would try his best to get to it. Which is all I could ask for as the other 3 shops I called just said that they were busy and didn't have any time. 2nd. Their diagnostic test was cheaper than ALL the shops in the area so that was also a HUGE plus. 3rd. They got my son's car in and let me know right away what the issue was and had a replacement part there the SAME DAY! WOW I was just blown away. We are new to the area and they have a forever customer with my son & I. I am temporarily working in Escalon, 150 miles away from my home in the Monterey Bay Area. My 2007 Mercedes C230 recently began idling fast and accelerating without warning. Last week while driving north on I-5 I realized I was unable to disengage the cruise control by tapping the brake. I was quickly gaining on slower traffic and could not get the car to slow down even though I was practically standing on the brake pedal. I exited the freeway and had the car towed the last 45 miles. Choosing an auto repair shop is intimidating enough when you're familiar with an area, but I had no idea where to begin. I went to YELP, entered "auto repair shops in my area" and the rest was easy. I was immediately drawn to Salida Auto Repair because of the photos and numerous positive reviews posted by satisfied customers. All praised the owner Greg Brand and his crew for their honesty and ability to make needed repairs quickly and at a reasonable price. You can add my name to that list of fans of this shop. I called Greg and he told me to bring in the car the same day. I was convinced the problem was related to one (or more) of the numerous electronic sensors these cars are equipped with. I also knew the cost of replacing them is more than I could afford at the time. I asked Greg if he thought a sensor was the problem and he said "Let's just wait until we take a look". Imagine my surprise and delight to learn the rubber padding underneath the gas pedal had loosened and was causing the pedal to stick and accelerate without warning! A slight adjustment and recommendation to change the pedal in the near future completely solved the problem. This at just the cost of the engine diagnostic of $89.90, much less than the $1,000+ I anticipated and would have paid had they not been so honest. I am so grateful to have found such a great place to take my car should the need arise. In fact, I have an appointment to take my car back to get it smogged at Greg's shop. I took my Porsche Cayenne to Greg because it needed a new starter. When owning these European cars, everyone knows how their engineering equals complicated work and high cost, let alone finding somewhere they have the skill and knowledge to fix them besides the dealership! Here is where I mention Greg, his staff and his clean shop come in. He quoted us a price (which was way more reasonable than what the Porsche dealers would charge) that was very manageable. He doesn't try and gouge you for more on parts or service. We agreed and work on the car was initiated. As the car was being dismantled, the starter and the coolant pipes (made of ABS plastic) is routed inside the intake manifold, something only Porsche engineering would do compared to 80% of cars out there, the coolant pipes which are plastic, broke (this is a well known issue on the Cayenne). Since the pipes were not included in the repair quote and it was not his fault that it broke, GREG bought the expensive (now aluminum) pipes OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET and DID NOT CHARGE US FOR IT! This is the type of integrity this shop owner has! I know he lost more than 60% of labor cost but he was only concerned about getting it done right more than anything. If anyone says negative things about this man, send them to me and I will correct them because... ... I AM HIS CUSTOMER FOR LIFE! P.S. Remember this.. HE FIXED A VERY COMPLEX PORSCHE! Greg recently looked at my sons vehicle and determined the motor had seized (2011 Kia). I asked him for the cost of a rebuild and he told me he would get back to me. Greg is awesome! You can eat off the floor in the shop - it's so clean. My car broke down on a Saturday and I had to have it towed. This was the only place open, so my husband called to see how late (4pm on Saturdays), and Greg stayed open an extra 15 minutes for us to be able to get the car in. On Monday morning he diagnosed the problem immediately, called to give me the estimate, and the car was fixed by 12:30 that day. He didn't charge an arm and a leg, either. We have a couple of other issues to deal with on our van, which has just over 100K miles on it, and we got an estimate while we were there, so we will most definitely be back to handle the rest, even though we have other shops much closer to us. Funny thing was that when I told a girlfriend about the car breaking down, she asked where we took it and when I told her the name of the shop, she said, "Oh, Greg is awesome!" I asked how she knew about the shop, since it's a bit of a distance from where we live. Turns out that he does the maintenance for the trucks for the pest control company that my girlfriend use to work for. Small world! read more

However, knowing that I had to face the fact I needed to wait a day before the car would be looked at, I left it at Salida Auto Repair because the guy I talked to, Greg, was very friendly and helpful when I spoke with him. He then told me he would find some time in their busy day to look at my car. A couple hours later he called me and told me it would be repaired and ready to go by the end of the day.
