I can't say enough good things about Main Street Garage. Last Friday, I was driving my '93 Jeep Wrangler from the Bay Area to Arnold with my daughter and our dog when things took a turn. Traffic rerouted us through back roads, and when we stopped at a cheese shop in the middle of dairy country, I noticed my front left tire was *smoking*. My phone was at 7% battery--perfect timing, right? I searched for the nearest auto shop, called Main Street Garage (about 5 miles away), and they immediately told me to come in. From the moment I arrived, the experience was incredible. Katie at the front desk jumped into action, got me checked in right away, and started calling around for parts. A kind customer even gave me an old cigarette lighter charger so my phone wouldn't die. The mechanic took my Jeep (and my dog!) back to the lift while we waited in an office that--no joke--had three beautiful Great Danes hanging out. The whole place just felt welcoming and human. They quickly diagnosed the issue (brakes and more), got to work, and had everything moving fast--even though it was already 4:30pm and they close at 5. After fixing the brakes, Mike (the owner) personally test drove the Jeep. When he got back, he told me he *wasn't comfortable* with me driving it up the hill yet and recommended replacing the brake hoses too. And here's where they went above and beyond: Mike coordinated with my husband and his wife Carly, and they actually drove me to Copperopolis so I could meet up with him and get home safely. Who does that?! They didn't just fix a car--they made sure we were taken care of. They stayed late, got everything handled by 6pm, and treated us with such kindness and urgency the entire time. I truly don't know another place that would go this far for their customers. Highly, highly recommend. (Also, bonus: Mike and my husband are now apparently bourbon buddies ) read more

Hats off to Main Street Garage!! I had my 2013 120,000 mile Hyundai Sonata towed to them to check out and got a call the next day that they had some bad news and maybe some good news. The bad news engine was frozen and would need to be replaced. The maybe good news? They reached out to Hyundai and found out that it might be under an extended warranty and that while they could fix it, they advised me to take it there. Well I am getting a new engine on Hyundai. I had no idea of an extended warranty and had they not reached out I probably would have junked the car. Maybe other shops would have done the same thing but it seems like they went over and above what they needed to do. Thank you. read more

Do not come here!! I was quoted $700 and was told my car would only take 3 hours. They ended up taking two weeks and charged me over $1,000 and when I got my car back it still wasn't fixed in fact it was worse. I decided to take it to a different shop where they informed me that they had broken a part that they replaced and said they fixed. I reached out to the shop to see if I could speak to Mike the shop owner and was told he would call me in 10 minutes and never got a call. I waited another three days and they said he'd call me that day and still never did. And again waited another 3 days and he never did and had his receptionist tell me they wouldn't be willing to refund the money for the part they broke. I have since filled claims with BAR and am waiting to get this handled read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. It's been a nightmare of an experience for almost 6 months. The entire staff seems to be severely unqualified and inexperienced. Most of their workers are in highschool or maybe 18 and that's all the owner seems to hire there. The owner has terrible communication with their clients that have already paid for services. And has 0 sense of urgency to work on cars that have already been in their shop for months.. If you just need a smog or an oil change that's about the only thing they can do proficiently. Anything beyond that the entire crew is very unfamiliar and unqualified to deal with. Would recommend ANY other shop! read more

Owner is a fantastic mechanic with a good head for business and is understanding the customer's needs. All the employees are very knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous. I've seen this business grow from the beginning, and it has proven to be very successful. I would highly recommend. read more

My car broke down right before Christmas! Had to get it towed to Main Street garage! I was pretty bummed I had to get a complete engine replacement, or a new car. The team made everything easy for me! They were very informative and got quotes to me is a great time frame, we're understanding when I needed a bit of time to make a decision and followed up with everything! Once all was said and done it only took me a week to have my car back in full working condition, and on top of that now I I have a reliable place to take my car and any one who ever needs work done I would highly recommend Main Street garage in escalon, they are professional friendly and honest! Thank you all for making it happen , and special shout outs to Katie , Megan and Mike, you all were awesome and super friendly, you got a customer for life right here! read more

Main Street Garage - Scion xB - Auto Repair Near Me - Escalon, California

Brought my car in last Tuesday for a safety check and I thought to get my brakes and alignment done. They were only able to do the safety check which I understood. When I picked it up Tuesday I made an appointment for yesterday Monday to bring it back for an alignment and brakes. When I came in to drop my car off I was informed the alignment guy doesn't work Mondays... so then why schedule an alignment for a Monday? I went ahead and was going to have them still do just my brakes but then I received a call after over an hour that the rotors they quoted me hadn't came in and it would be almost double for the rotors. I quickly went and picked my car up and will be going anywhere else. They need to work on their communication within the office and scheduling. Trying to change the price to nearly double feels scammy and sad coming from a local shop. read more

Honest, reliable shop! The entire team at Main Street garage are amazing. Katie handles the counter and does it smoothly! We can call them and we immediately are taken care of! Now they have this new feature where they text you a diagnostic of your vehicle so you can see what immediately needs to be done. This is the only place we take all of our vehicles! read more

I was driving home to Twain Harte today after a flight from orange county to Sacramento. Pouring rain, windy and cold! Had a car break down Friday before holiday weekend on our way through town. Called this shop and they were able to squeeze us. They did everything they could to get us back on the road the same day. Incredible Service, Incredible commitment and effort!! We can't recommend them enough, truly wish there were more places like this! FYI we've never written a review before, we were just so incredibly thankful for this experience. The care and expertise of this shop needs to be acknowledged! read more

On a holiday weekend Main Street Garage SAVED ME. Driving back from Pinecrest Lake my vehicle lost it's brakes along HWY 120. I called them at 2:45 PM to see if they could help and amazingly they said yes. They quickly inspected and diagnosed the failure, and then made special arrangements to get the parts and the manpower to get me back on the road by 6PM. They went above and beyond. Shout out to Nick for working overtime to ensure my wife and I could get back on the road safely. read more

Unfortunately horrible experience. Really wanted to find someone reliable and timely in town but will never go there again. Called Monday and was told to have my car towed to be looked at Tuesday. Tuesday evening I call and was told they were backed up and would look at Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon I call again at 3:30 and the tech was about to test drive my car and I'd have a quote soon. Thursday at noon I call and the car still hasn't been looked at. I get a quote at 5pm on THURSDAY. I sign the $1300 quote and add on two $6 bolts and a $30 cabin air filter since it will be no additional labor (I was told). I pick up my car Friday and they charge me over $1500! $25 for bolts, $25 for nuts and ADDITIONAL LABOR. Absolute rip off, lack of communication and dishonest. Good reviews must be friends and family or something because that couldn't have been farther from my experience. read more

We usually do all of our own repairs and services on our vehicles. However this time we needed a catalytic converter and it was more challenging and time-consuming than we had time for. We dropped the car off with Mike knowing he would have no problem getting the job done right and in a timely manner, which he did. I love our small town and I love supporting small town business. Mike is an honest knowledgeable man and a trustworthy friendly businessman. We refer our friends and family to Mike and the crew at Main Street. read more

This garage is simply just a good, honest and reliable business. They are reasonably priced as well. I had a oil change done, I dropped off my suv, and within two hours or less they dropped it back off to my house so I didn't have to wait around with my 2yrold.... it was amazing that these exceptional mechanic shops STILL exist!!! I highly recommend this shop for ANY mechanical needs. read more

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!! Main Street Garage is the kind of shop you hear nightmare experiences about! Where the shop takes your car for weeks on end, keeps stringing you along, does absolutely NOTHING and charges you your first born for their lack there of work before you can pick it up! Do Not, I repeat DO NOT!! Take your car to this shop! It was a shop like this many moons ago that made me decide to go to school to become a mechanic! Unfortunately I can not do the warranty work on my own car. That being said, on to my experience with the MainStreet Scam Artists . So apparently your review can't be too long so long story short they lied to me for weeks didn't do any work not even the diagnostic so I finally told them I was coming to get my car the next day after work. Next day came and while I was at work they finally call and tell me my catalytic converter is bad it's going to be $1300 for them to fix it because my warranty doesn't cover it or I can now pick it up after paying $150 for the diagnostic. I had told them when I dropped it off the pre cat and more than likely catalytic conver are toast. Precat material was sucked into the combustion chamber and it has low compression and is burning oil. They finally after almost three weeks "say" they did a diagnostic and my cat is bad so I ask well what about the compression and oil consumption? Oh well that wasn't covered in the diagnostic so you want me to pay you for literally not checking anything? read more

I have a fairly older 1993 Jeep Cherokee that needs a lot of extra love. Main Street Garage does it all, replaced my entire clutch, starter, reinforced my clutch pedal with innovation, reinforced the steel since I have a heavy foot. They have definitely fixed more than just that, they are faster than I could've asked for to boot. I would definitely not hesitate to seek out your automotive needs. They have a customer for life. read more

Great service and good work! They did a great job of communicating and getting the job done.

Got to love a small town. It's hard to find an honest mechanic these days. Mike was able to squeeze me in for a problem that was going to be a bunch of others. The office is clean and seemed pet friendly as well as community oriented. Pets are my life and I love our small town of Escalon. He was very honest with telling me the work my 2005 Nissan Titan needs and even voiced to me that he may not recommended me doing the work there because of the age of my vehicle and cost. You cannot find that honesty in a mechanic these Days. Turns out my catalytic converter is out and my high oil pressure guage. Mike and his shop is willing to take on the job and I'm so thankful and comfortable to come back. I'm sorry Les Schwab, but I have to support our local businesses and you recommended me there. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about this shop, and moreover, the people working there. It was a Friday beginning the Labor Day weekend, having left the Bay Area in a BMW 535 for a weekend retreat near Bear Valley when late in the afternoon, to avoid a potential accident with another car, I had an inadvertent collision driving over a curb/island. We needed a mechanic and after doing a Yelp search, contacted Main Street Garage. I can understand all the five start ratings. Jeff said, "if it's drivable, bring it in now". They were busy when we arrived but had the car on the rack almost immediately. After reviewing the diagnosis and recommendation with us, we had to forego the trip but could not be more grateful for the friendly and honest service we received. If and whenever again a mechanic is needed in this area, Main Street Garage is the place to go. Thank you Mike and team! Perhaps our paths will cross again and at that time get to meet the Great Danes. read more
