    Truck prior to leaving to shop for 3rd time

    First off I'd like to start with how unimpressed I am at the complete lack of respect I have gotten from this shop after having issues with my vehicle after leaving their care. When a customer pays to have work done and theirs a issue, they should be reprimanded & blamed for accusing them of not doing the work when that's not what I had implied at all. I was respectful in letting them know that I was having the same issues as before while providing information that I thought might help solve the issue. But from the get go I was skeptical due to the simple fact I was being rudely accused of insinuating work wasn't done. Which to me throws a red flag because a shop that knows they did the proper work and procedures to get the job done doesn't need to argue about anything and would more than willingly help to figure out the issue and help me get on my way. Took my Truck their to have the lifters replaced and the DOD/ AFM deleted out of the system which includes replacing the cam shaft, plugging the oil ports, replacing all lifters including mechanical & non-mechanical lifters since it would be a good time to do them all and lastly re-programming the ECU so that the active fuel management/ DOD is 100% deleted out of the truck for no further issues. Well long story short it took over a month for them to get the truck in & worked on. I was surprised with random other issues concerning my fuel tank, then not even a week after getting the truck back I get the check engine light back on and it was throwing the same misfire codes which Chevy confirmed to be the lifter issue. They had me re-tow the truck back to the shop & upon waiting another week told me the truck was ready for pickup. I picked the truck up and my impression upon pickup was that something had still not been totally right. Well within a month/ less than 1,600 miles around town the truck through the same exact misfire codes as it did initially upon bringing it to Johnny. Calling them to make them aware I was quickly blown off & rudely spoken to as if I were wrong for making them aware or being concerned if any work had been done at all. They had been very defensive and completely uncooperative with any assistance on getting the truck towed back their for a 3rd time. At the time I had a extra vehicle so it wasn't super high on my priority list to get dicked around more by a shop I paid over $3,000 to do what seemed to be nothing. I mistakenly allowed a couple months to pass before gathering up the time and energy to pull the intake/ valve train assembly off myself.. I wasn't shocked by what I had found. Gummed up parts such as the valves & old push rods which claimed to have been replaced on the work order. Untouched bolts on the entire right side of the V8 block as if they didn't even bother opening up the valve cover muchless replace the heads & everything they had claimed to have replaced. When I called the shop to question what the deal was and who had worked on the truck his son was quick to brush off my questions with blanket statements that "if it's on the work order and we charged you, we did it" along with "bring it back down and we can take a look at it.." I took photos/ videos of what I had pulled apart along with had another friend to help who was a previous automative repair shop owner just to verify my presumptions and findings were correct. After having the truck towed their for the 3rd time it has sat their for over a month.. Honestly i don't care what happened in the past with what did or didn't get done. All I care about is what is happening now. The truck is still under their 3,000 mile guaranteed work order, sounding worse than ever before with the lifter ticking/ motor wigging out due to codes/ misfires and yet it's sitting their not being worked on obviously because who wants to work on something someone already paid you to do the work on when you didn't do it? Called this morning and disappointingly enough yet not surprised, truck still sitting and no promises that will change even in the next week. More than likely will have it towed to another shop & report them to the B.A.R - Bureau of Automotive Repair.

    My personal experience with this shop was horrible. They didn't repair my engine and refused to refund my money. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I reported them to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair https://www.bar.ca.gov. There are excellent other car repair shops in Oakdale.

    (1 star) I brought…read moremy 2013 Honda Civic into Oakdale Automotive about 7 months ago for an air conditioning problem. After dropping the car off, I went several days with no communication. When I finally called, I was told they had ordered the wrong part. After about a week without my car, I was charged roughly $1,500 just to get the A/C blowing cold again. When I picked the car up, I immediately discovered both headlights were out. I had to replace the bulbs myself. I brought the car back and asked about it, but they weren't able to determine what caused the issue. Fast forward 7 months, and the A/C failed again. They replaced the compressor a second time. A few days later, while on a trip to the Sierras, the car suddenly lost electrical power--power steering, brakes, and multiple warning lights all came on. I was barely able to get it safely off the road in Jamestown and had to have it towed home. While preparing to replace the alternator and serpentine belt (given the mileage), I discovered several concerning issues: the main power wire to the alternator was floppy loose, the battery negative cable was not properly tightened, and a wire routing clip near the alternator wasn't secured. Since access to the A/C compressor typically involves working in that area, it raises serious concerns about the quality of the previous work. I can't say with absolute certainty what caused everything, but the timing and condition of these components make it hard to ignore. Overall, this was a frustrating and concerning experience--poor communication, repeat repairs, and workmanship issues that could have led to a dangerous situation. I would recommend others proceed with caution.

I was immediately greeted by the staff and Ryan went straight to work. The problem was diagnosed and repaired in less than 2 hours. He was direct, accurate and incredibly helpful. I am grateful for his hard work. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I ALWAYS recommend this shop for the fact that they've never been wrong and have always been honest. Why is the owner not supervising these young technicians? They have very little experience and should be supervised by experienced in licensed mechanics. When I picked up my vehicle, the alignment seemed way off. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the work they performed, but they certainly took the two front rims and tires off the vehicle. All I can tell you is my steering wheel was jiggly back & forth driving over 60mph. As a result, I have to take my suv to a tire shop for a wheel alignment. Another $100 bucks.

We were headed for Sonora for a "girls" weekend when we noticed the tire warnings on my Honda CRV were all lit up. We stopped to check and put air in the tires ourselves but her nails were too long and mine were too short to complete the job so we headed for Google. We are are so fortunate to come across the ad for this company and we ended up there completely at their mercy. We were afraid to drive all the way to Sonora with any kind of warning lights on. The manager, Danniel Mancilla, treated us so well and took care of our problem so effortlessly that both of us were amazed. We don't get this kind of treatment in the Bay Area. I was prepared to purchase 4 new tires from them if need be but he assured me that I was simply low on air because of the weather change after he checked the tires thoroughly. Not only did he do that but he recalibrated my car to get rid of the warning lights...all with little or no effort and a smile. We didn't have to wait...and it wasn't that they weren't busy...he just did it himself. And when I ask him how much I owed him he said "glad you stopped here and hope you will return". Amazing. I live in Fremont but I just may call him and go to Oakdale when it's time for new tires. Thank you Danniel and the staff at Oakdale Auto Care and Tire for making two damsels in distress very happy.
