I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. When I asked what I owed I was told "Nothing". I was pleasantly surprised even though I was prepared yo pay for their expertise. Worst place ever took wife's truck in to get fixed transmission not shifting was told by Modesto transmission it was control modular they recommend walkers automitve 2 weeks to replace it now it shifts but shifts so hard about knocks you out of seat my fault I paid them then took off and noticed problem right away didn't even get around the block y went back took there main guy around block he even said oh shit that's not good I said exactly then he tells me he sent it to modesto transmission mission to replace something it's there problem but nobody ever contacted me to tell me they were sending it off for them to replace modular crooks now both places pointing fingers read more

Called a week ago about horrible screeching. The guy said that I could do the $42 check/diagnosis then if i wanted to move further if it's just my brakes they'll take that off the total amount. Drove about an hour to get there for my 8:30am appoint. The only thing is that I told I needed to wait for a couple of hours to start on my car; which I understand because of a car or two before me. But it's not really an 8:30am appointment at that point. However, about an hour I had an up date as they got me in asap because they didn't want me to wait forever to check some brake pads. Super grateful for this. Turns out, I didn't need pads, def needed to get cleaned off, a nut also broke off during the check, (it was getting stuck), and they decided to clean off my battery (which... I kinda laughed because my brakes are not even under my hood-). I get mechanics will check whatever. I'm happy they offered and did that as well. But just be mindful, that it's okay to say no to things that have nothing to do with what you came in for. Other places tried to say my brakes needed to be replaced without even lifting the car up. And to charge unreasonably amount even for just pads. So happy I came here. Even the appointment time and checking under my hood (without reason to), I still give this shop 5 stars. Only other thing is that they rolled my windows down while working but didn't roll them back up when handing the vehicle back over. Which is fine usually. But I drove off a bit and realized I couldn't roll my window back up via driver's side. It was because they messed the battery. Drive it right back and I think it was maybe Aaron who fixed it easy peasy. I completely trust these guys. And were super amazing. Since I sat in the waiting room the whole time, I didn't try to listen to phone calls about other people's cars but every time they spoke, they were super honest about whatever was going on even someone's car had too many issues and it was going to cost a bit, including smog advice (they also do smog checks!). Would go back again for sure. I've told my coworkers about them as well. Also, I have a SUBARU! They know they're Subaru stuff! Things like may CVT drain- not sure if they do that or know how to, you can always ask! It's hard to find reasonable shops that know Subies! read more

My 2005 Buick had a melt down on a Monday Evening. Had it towed home, as no business open at that time. Got a rental car early the next morning, as I had to go out of town for the day. Upon return, checked around for who to get, for my repair. My neighbors recommended Walker's Automotive very highly, as they have used them for years, plus their now adult children do. Walker's had no room for my car for a couple of days, so had it towed to them then. Sorry to say, they were so busy and short a mechanic, it took another week. But Luis was so helpful and concerned. He got me help financially before we even had the diagnostics done. Was able to return my car rental after 2 weeks and one day. My final payment to them was so vey do-able, Luis made my day. I had the worse experience on Monday I drove my bmw to the shop for smog test I knew it needed work done because I had a misfire in cylinder 5 so I was told it would be 3 or 4 days so on Friday I hadnt heard from the shop so I called at 4 pm and was informed that my car needed a lot of work it jumped time and it wasn't worth the price to fix starting at $3500 and that's not including parts and the smog so i went to pick up my car before closing but my car didn't start i had to keep turning it over and the motor was making so many different loud noises so I had to push it across the street and I spoke to manager and explained i drove my car here without any stalling issues and he told me well we didn't do anything except do a compression test on cylinder 5 and they are not responsible for it jumping time which didn't make sense because i drove here if nothing was done i should be driving it back but instead I had to call my brother and in 30 seconds he seen a coil pack was not plugged in and that was the problem i started my car and drove home. which means the manager really had no idea what was done they unplugged more than cylinder 5 for compression test like I was told .I would think that a head mechanic or supervisor would of over looked the situation especially given the fact that I drove the car there and now it wouldn't stay on long enough to even come out of park. This whole situation could have been avoided if they had some type of quality control it was such a small task but huge consequences for myself. I was recommended to Walker Automotive by several folks on our community page. My 2003 Dodge Pickup had been sitting up for about four years when I decided to get it on the road again. Expecting a rather hefty bill, I had everything done from tie-rods, tune-up, leaks, emissions parts, brakes, oil change, oil sending unit, non-working A/C and a few other things. I received several calls from Walkers during the process and to my surprise it was never a call to tell me something else was broken. Each call was to tell me how I could save money because something I wanted done, didn't need repaired. It has been over a month since I got my truck back and it is running like brand new! I recently took a vehicle here because I had heard nothing but good things about them.I also had a voucher for my vehicle because it would not pass smog, and they happened to accept it, which I was super excited about. I will say my work truck had numerous issues to say the least. I had someone work on it that obviously just did a horrible job at trying to rig everything together to make it work. So after dropping my vehicle off at Walker's, a couple days later I was called up and was told that they are not going to go forward with working on my vehicle because of the awful state it is in, making me feel very embarrassed and ashamed. I was hopeless at that point and thought nobody would take me on. That was one of my worst experiences ever :-( needless to say I found the most amazing shop not too far from there. Bobby worked on my truck and made it look like a breeze. Not one time did he make me feel less than, they let me know that they get vehicles like this all the time with a lot of issues. Took my daughters car here because my initial interaction on the phone with the receptionist was positive. They had time and very nice on the phone. The issue happened after i decided to just pay for the trouble shooting and make the repair myself. My daughter went to pick the car up and the owner Aaron, was a complete jerk to my daughter. Treated her poorly in front of other customers and even had a lady in the lobby comment she couldn't believe how he was talking to her. He talked down to her like she was stupid and acted like a high schooler. This type of behavior is unacceptable from a service provider and just lost a customer. For those seeking a review with honesty and no fear of it being a fake review. TL;DR: Good vehicle service, decent customer service, robbing you legally (outrageous labor cost), terrible communication/updates They do the service and get the parts required for your vehicle, but don't expect to get your vehicle by the day they tell you it'll be done. They have decent customer service and are polite. Now you may be asking "why the 2 stars?" From someone thats really tight on money in this economy, you will be baffled at the 1,100 charge for just the Labor alone. I needed my ball joints to replaced and the parts were only 300+ for all four joints. I normally work on my own vehicle but I had no other option at the time since i don't live in Modesto and having it towed would cost me time and money, or so i thought. The communication is terrible, I had to call to get updates on the vehicle after receiving nothing on the day it was supposed to be done. I had to drive an hour to the shop three times because i kept getting told my vehicle was ready by a certain date only to get told its not ready when i got there because something came up. I almost didn't get my vehicle on the third trip but they finally communicated amongst themselves about the work thats been done. I wouldn't recommend for those with a tight budget and minimal free time but then again its just my opinion on the matter considering my situation and all. I hope this helps read more

I've been to Walker's a few times and have had nothing but good encounters with them. I feel like they are pretty honest, which is important when going to a mechanic. I had an issue with a bearing. They charged me for a part they anticipated using, but didn't after all. I, of course, had no clue, but they called me the next day and said they caught their mistake and said I had a refund coming. That speaks volumes. In addition, my car sounded like an airplane when i took it in because of the bearing and alignment. Mind you, I drive a hybrid and it should make barely any noise. It sounds like new again. They also gave me a ride home when I dropped my car off. All in all, they did a great job and I will continue going back to them. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Walkers. Recently moved to the area and needed a place to bring our cars. I decided on Walkers because of their reviews. Honest people that do a great job at a fair price. I have brought 3 different cars here. The first was my BMW X5. The dealership told me I needed a wheel alignment and wanted to charge me an outrageous amount. I brought it into Walkers and Luis is the first one that I encountered. He was very nice and assessed my car. I told him what the dealership told me and come to find out I didn't even need an alignment or tire rotation. From this point on I knew I could trust Walkers. The second car I brought in was my Prius because the AC wasn't blowing cold air. Although it wasn't a quick fix like we initially thought they got the job done in a timely manner and now my AC blows super cold. The latest car I brought to get checked out is a Chevy Silverado. We were going on a trip for Labor Day weekend pulling our travel trailer and needed the breaks and transmission oil to be changed. While they had the truck they noticed a few other things that needed to be addressed. They called me to let me know and I told them that I needed the truck back by 11am the next day. Of course they delivered, the truck was finished at 10am. The price for everything done wasn't outrageous and the truck drives and feels so much smoother now. Well If they didn't fill out an accident report then who knows where the record of my service is. I'm certain the employees remember a hearse because they were making wise cracks and enjoying the oddity of the vehicle (which in turn caused one of them to lean on the car for a photo and break the glass as It was in for service). In hindsight I wish I didn't listen to a friends recommendation, which they regret now. I don't ever write reviews because I'm sure business' are not perfect and are doing their best. But this was just not right, how they treated the situation and didn't show any concern for what they did after they admitted it. I remember the employees getting quiet in the office andand watching me leave, it was strange. Recommended by AAA, we tried Walker's and canceled an appointment with our regularly used repair shop of 30 years. I was overly impressed by the friendliness of each person I interacted with. I was not accustomed to kindness for an auto repair facility. No pressure was applied with recommended services and they even had shuttle service.
