(1 star) I brought my 2013 Honda Civic into Oakdale Automotive about 7 months ago for an air conditioning problem. After dropping the car off, I went several days with no communication. When I finally called, I was told they had ordered the wrong part. After about a week without my car, I was charged roughly $1,500 just to get the A/C blowing cold again. When I picked the car up, I immediately discovered both headlights were out. I had to replace the bulbs myself. I brought the car back and asked about it, but they weren't able to determine what caused the issue. Fast forward 7 months, and the A/C failed again. They replaced the compressor a second time. A few days later, while on a trip to the Sierras, the car suddenly lost electrical power--power steering, brakes, and multiple warning lights all came on. I was barely able to get it safely off the road in Jamestown and had to have it towed home. While preparing to replace the alternator and serpentine belt (given the mileage), I discovered several concerning issues: the main power wire to the alternator was floppy loose, the battery negative cable was not properly tightened, and a wire routing clip near the alternator wasn't secured. Since access to the A/C compressor typically involves working in that area, it raises serious concerns about the quality of the previous work. I can't say with absolute certainty what caused everything, but the timing and condition of these components make it hard to ignore. Overall, this was a frustrating and concerning experience--poor communication, repeat repairs, and workmanship issues that could have led to a dangerous situation. But it changed hands around 2019? I think. Anyway the new owner has absolutely no people skills. And raised his prices to an absurd degree. Game changer. I don't trust this guy. I think a 4.2 for Oakdale Garage is not a fair shake for this business. It is 100% a 5-star repair and maintenance shop. They do a fantastic job and Josh and Nat are down-to-earth guys who can explain everything about the job and what is recommended for your car. The used car dealership took the truck over at my request for a pre-purchase inspection. They had the inspection done the same day. They called me several times to inform me on what they found. They went the extra mile and took several dozen pictures of the truck that were of concern. They then texted me all the pictures. This place has major employee problems. I brought my cars in for service there for years, and each time had the same sort of issues. I thought maybe they were having a bad day, but I am not returning there for work. The front desk help there is abrasive, rude, antagonistic and unhelpful. I brought my car in for a smog test and was told it had the wrong license plates. Huh? I thought he was kidding but he wasn't. I went to my car and to checked the plates. They matched the DMV renewal slip he was holding in his hand perfectly. WTF? To make matters worse, the smog tech said that the cars wiring harness had an unauthorized adapter. Huh? I asked him to show me the part. He went to a third party web site and pointed to a picture of a part that isn't even installed on my car. I asked him what the part was. He said he didn't know. I told him twice that my car is absolutely stock, and that the drawing shows a part not even installed on my car. After waiting two hours, still no smog check. I was basically asked to leave. I went to a different smog check station, and was in and out in less than an hour. No problems whatsoever. Car passed with flying colors. Bottom line, stay away from Oakdale Garage, at least until the owner, who is a great guy, gets his employees in line, and ups the shops technical knowledge. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. They charged me $170 for a part that cost $10. When I asked about it they said they couldn't find the part for that much. So my car battery went out on me and had to get a jump start. I drove my car to Steve's Chevrolet where I purchased 5 vehicles over the last few years and told them I'm late for work can you please install a battery. They said you could leave your vehicle all day and pick up later, so that wasn't an option. Driving through town knowing if I turn my car off it wouldn't start again so I pulled into Oakdale garage. They were very busy as well but went out of their way to get a battery and install it within an hour. unlucky to be taken to this place by tow truck driver. Repairs took 17 days. They take big markups on parts and won't disclose. Work was finished fine but they missed the oil pump. Car has low pressure, it should have been caught. Very expensive bill for a one horse town. I paid approx. 3 grand more than other good shops in the bay area would charge. read more
