I had an excellent experience with Ripon Auto repair yesterday. I was concerned about a check engine light that came on during a road trip through the area, and even though I had no appointment, and may never pass this way again, I was treated well. They agreed to check the code and tell me what the problem was right away. I was relieved to hear that my engine was running a little lean, maybe only one of the vacumn lines were to blame but a full diagnostic was required to resolve properly, however it would be ok to finish my last 200 miles without worrying. I am writing this review not about the great service done on my vehicle but the way in which I was dealt with today by the owner, Ryan. We discovered an unknown "Plan Fee" reoccurring on a credit card statement which named Ripon Auto Repair. Before we called the credit card company I wanted to call Ripon Auto to see if maybe it was just something we missed when we got our car serviced, or if it was an oversight on their end. Sometimes these things happen and so I wanted to see if it was a simple mistake on their end, or even our end. I was transferred to the owner Ryan who from the get go already sounded annoyed. He told me they did not have any credits on file for the amount I was talking about on our CC statement. I explained that it listed their companies name. He then raised his voice at me and was being very aggressive. I asked him why he was getting angry and raising his voice and he said "because I told you we don't have any credit on our books for that amount and it could be someone else using our companies name and you should call the CC company!" At that point I let him know this is not how you conduct business as an owner and that I will contact my CC company. I then hung up. I'm not sure if it is because I'm a woman questioning him, or if he is usually this rude and abrasive. However, I can assure you that I will no longer be servicing my vehicle at this establishment. I will also never recommend them again. I hope you really look at yourself sir and readjust your attitude and handling of customers. God Bless. read more

Let me start off this review by saying that I always feel apprehensive when I need to see a mechanic. My knowledge is extremely limited and past experiences often left me feeling indifferent after the exchange. I am delighted to say this was not the case when I brought my needs to Ripon Auto. Ever the researcher, I read several promising reviews on Yelp and decided to give the place a try and I am so happy I did. If I'm being honest I imagine I can be a bit of a handful to some people at times because I have many questions. I like to understand the process as much as I can. I am fully aware this might annoy some people, but I was relieved to find this was not the case here. Adam patiently and clearly walked me through the entire process, answered all my questions, and was extremely kind as well. I felt very safe leaving my vehicle with them because they made me feel like they had my best interests at heart. It's also worth noting I called several times with questions and each time I called, all my questions were answered no matter how big or small. I wish everyone could have the same experience with mechanics as I did at this establishment. Ripon Auto Center is great. Very knowledgeable, reasonable prices, welcoming and friendly. I take my car here for routine things like oil changes as well as for more complex problems that require diagnostic checks and repairs. Most recent experience...My coworker took his truck here because his steering felt off and his truck was making a "clunking" sound. Ralph helped him out by taking an in depth look into the problem. A few hours later he called him and had a list of problems...total repair estimate was $1700. Most mechanics would love to do the work and make some money and some might even suggest unnecessary repairs to make extra money. Ralph gave the advice that it might be time to buy a new truck. He said with over 200K miles he was likely going to need a new tranny and fuel pump soon and that unless he REALLY loved his truck, he'd be better off saving the $1700 and trading his truck in for a new one. This is very unusual honest advice from a guy who makes a living repairing cars with high mileage. read more

I had my vehicle towed to Ripon Auto after hours last night. I believed my car was no longer under warranty. The guys at Ripon Auto checked my car out first thing in the morning and diagnosed the problem. Adam went above and beyond and called the dealership and found out that the problem my car was having actually is covered under warranty. He called me and let me know that he recommended having the vehicle towed to the nearby dealership and having the work done there as it could become rather costly. I so appreciate him and his integrity. He could've done the work and charged me an arm and a leg for it (as I believe many other repair places might do). He didn't have to go out of his way and help me out like that. In the future I will definitely bring our vehicles here and recommend them whenever I can. read more

Since my last review I got a different car. I requested a quote for an oil change for a 2019 Mustang GT. The price wasn't bad, for around $80.I had asked if they would use the Ford recommended Oil and Filter, and they said they could get it, so I made an appointment for a Monday at 4:30pm. I got there a little before 4:30, no one was up front. A couple other customers arrived, and still no one came into the front office (about 10 - 15 minutes). I didn't see anyone in the first garage they have. An employee finally came up and started assisting the other customers due to there car situation being more critical, then they assisted me. They told me that I could pick up my vehicle the next morning, but I needed it back that day, so they took care of the oil change right then and there, which didn't take long. When I got the receipt I saw that the Ford recommended Oil and Oil filter were not used, even though from my understanding they were going to use it. It's not a huge deal, I'll double check with them next time, or bring my own oil and filter. The employees were nice, and did a good job in good time. The reason for not the full 5 stars, is for the wait and the miscommunication on the oil and filter. I will be back in the future though. read more

I work for a large company that takes its fleet vehicles to the different Auto repair shops in Ripon. We have had good luck here so I took my commuter vehicle there early in the morning to get the air conditioning refrigeration charged. They did not give me a Work order or estimate, But I trusted them because of the amount of work my employer gives them and the record we have had with our fleet vehicles, plus it was a small refrigerant re-charge nothing big. I will ALWAYS get a work order and estimate in the future! I called them that same day at about 3:30 to see if my car was ready and was told they had it torn apart and were waiting on parts. I Had only requested they re-charge the A.C. refrigerant! I told them I needed the vehicle to commute home at 5 p.m. ( its a forty minute commute) and they were indifferent saying there was no way they could get the car put back together Today. I picked up the car and complained about the 560 dollar bill, the fact that they didn't do what I asked them to do, and didn't call me to clarify it was okay to move forward on a repair without my permission. The man helping me said they were only told to fix the A.C. unit ( which is not what I said , I told them to recaharge the A.c. assuming that was why the A.C. wasn't working) I am doing my best to completely stop using them for our fleet vehicles all together and will never use them for a personal vehicle repair again read more

I have not had my car worked on by Ripon Auto yet but a family member has for some years and I am so satisfied with the service this loved one receives from Ripon Auto that I am recommending them and will start having my car serviced there. Ralph (owner) and his guys are always friendly and provide top notch service. Ralph has worked hard to repair problems on my family members vehicle and has always fixed it and provided the best costs he could. For instance, the car had to be taken back a couple times to address a problem with the A/C system. Ralph suggested after the first visit and repair to take the car and see how it operated. It was determined later there was something else wrong and Ralph repaired that problem for only the cost of the part. Fair, honest service is what you will get at Ripon Auto. read more
