I had my nails done for maybe a week and the acrylic was chipping really bad along the sides and tip of my nails. I went in today hoping they would fix the issue because it's clearly an issue with the acrylic. I asked if they could just fix the problem they asked if I wanted to do a new set I said yes. In the process of him taking the acrylic off of my nails he breaks a nail and the rest of my nails are super tender from him basically ripping the acrylic off. I kept moving my hand and saying ouch, and he finally decided to soak them. Even after soaking he used the drill on my nails, which made them really sensitive just to turn around and get charged $60. I thought I had found a new place to get my nails done close to home but today was my last time coming here. read more

Eye brow wax was perfection, nails perfect -- however, the pedicure was horrible, within a week the gel nail polish on 3 different nails on three different days, just fell off. Each time I went back for the repair, no explanation, no apology- nothing. Today another toe- the polish just came off -- I can not continue to go back and forward for repairs -- I think by the end of the week all 10 toes will probably need to be repaired. This pedicure was an absolute waste of money and my time. Modern Nail should do better and atleast explain what happened and re-do the polish. Prices a lot high and the time you spend in there will vary. Sometimes a pedicure will take 40 mins. Sometimes it takes 1 hour 15mins. Large environment, very clean, very organized. Lots and lots of polish colors! Always get a great service no matter who does it. read more

Worst experience ever!! The nail tech I had(a guy) was pretty much rushing through my fill in. I wanted a French look with a yellow color, he didn't hesitate to do it but the finished product was a mess! When I pointed out things I didn't like, he seemed to get annoyed or irritated to the point where I just wanted to leave. Very distasteful. I understand a busy establishment. This place was great. Easy to make an appointment online. Walked in, was greeted, and quickly they were ready for me. Technicians were nice and efficient. I like that they let my feet soak as long as possible (some places seem to really rush this). Incredibly affordable (for I think $45 you get a deluxe spa pedicure). Super comfy pedicure chairs. Fingernail polish did chip quickly but this is the first time I've gotten regular polish instead of gel and I think that just comes with the territory. I've previously gone to Eden Nails in Durham which is also nice, but charges way more and probides slightly worse service. read more

I received the most painful manicure and pedicure I have ever gotten. I appreciate them being quick with my pedicure and manicure. However, since the nail technician was rushing he made me bleed on several of my fingers and toes. On top of that, he did not wipe off the blood nor put anything on it to cover it. If I could give 0 stars I would. I decided to try this place again after a bad experience. So let's rewind to 2014... when I got a fungus here from unclean pedicure bowls. I decided to try them again for a fill in with gel polish. I normally go to someone else but I had to cancel my appointment due to me not being able to go at that time. The fill in itself was ok... however her polish technique was terrible. I always get gel polish. Let me tell you... my nail polish was chipping and coming off the next day. It looks so bad! I don't know what kind of gel powder, or base/top coats they use... but it's terrible. I have NEVER had gel polish come off my nails in the 6 years I've been getting it. Won't be going back... fool me twice, shame on me... won't get me again! read more

Do not go here. I was cut multiple times on my cuticles, rushed through the whole process, and did not ask anything about my nails. Whenever my fingers bled, the nail tech proceeded to paint over the blood from my cuticles. I left the place and my nails physically hurt. On top of that, I was over charged for a horrible service. For my pedicure, I waited over 30 minutes in the water before anyone came to my seat. Will not be returning. Please do not go here if you do not have to. read more

Modern Nails I will never ever step foot back into this establishment. I went to get a routine fill-in walked out feeling like my nails went through surgery. My cuticles were bleeding from the electric tool that the nail tech used and my nails were hurting afterwards. Not only that but 3 days later my nails started to split in the middle ( which is very painful)and 3 of them came off while I was doing my hair. I went in on Monday January 17th just to receive poor service with nasty attitudes (from the older lady that sits at station 1)and no apologies for the damages of my nails. The lady at station 1 says have a seat and has me to soak my damaged nails, she then tells me "after you soak your nails here's a paper towel for you to wipe the polish off." That caught me off guard because I'm not employed at Modern Nails and no professional nail technician has ever asked me to service myself. While I'm soaking my nails the guy at station 4 says "Get up and come sit here" he then proceeds to tell me he has to charge me for a service that I paid for 3 days ago... I have been coming to Modern Nails for over 9 years and should have stopped coming to this disrespectful establishment back in 2018 when the professional service started to decline. I've watched the nail techs treat their customers differently if they didn't know who you were.. Not Once have they ever offered me a bottle of water or soda but I've watch them offer older customer the world... Modern Nails you really need to hire some professional nail technicians. read more

Homophobia alert!....While waiting for a pedicure, two women came in and the two male manicurists proceeded to work on them...while I had been waiting for more than 1/2 hour. When I asked why the women were take before me, I was told that the men don't work on men. The owner had no answer when I asked her why (we are talking about feet here, people.) Now I know that there aren't too many men who get pedicures or manicures but if you have any feelings for gay rights you will avoid this place or any other nail salon that has this policy. This used to be my place but it depends on who you get. If I get the older gentleman that works in the front I usually kindly ask to wait because the quality is consistently not well. He had done a pedicure once and manicure twice and both times my nails are sloppy and chip in day two. The time before this the lady who did my eyebrows had to get a file to fix his work after he was done! Why one star? I go in on day two after the second manicure just to get the two nails that are chipped fixed and their response is NO not today. I never assumed I wouldn't have to pay, just a flat out NO not today. That is by far horrible customer service. They know I was there 2 days ago because I was there until 8:30 and was one of the last people there. I come here often.
