The lady I got my pedicure with was WONDERFUL (her name is Karen), and she took her time with my pedicure and the recommendations. When I came back for my manicure though, the young lady who did my nails did kind of rush me through my service and my gel manicure started to chip within two days. I called in and asked for a repair and Ms Karen serviced me upon returning and it's been almost a week and my manicure still looks fresh! I'm so happy with my results. Thrilled with the beautiful aesthetics of this place- the lighting, the brand new massage chairs (everything inside looks brand new)- feels very bright and clean. Loved that they offer over 10 different pedicures, and my absolute favorite part is that you can add on a timed massage, to ANY one you pick (up to 20 min, for an extra $25). The salon offers LOTS of different colors, and different brands of gel polish. I got a gel manicure and pedicure, and I felt that my technician really took her time and did a great job. She did 3 coats without me asking, because the color was MUCH lighter than was in the bottle- I appreciate small things like that. $100 for both (and the extra massage)- I will definitely be back here!!! Note- only street parking. Wasn't hard for me at 11 am on a week day, but not sure of the parking at later times in the day or on the weekends. Welp I splurged for a more expensive pedi and was being short changed! She was ready to put my flip flops back on with out finishing the service which included a paraffin dip that she simply wasn't going to do. She complied and got the paraffin when I asked about it. The lady was very nice, but this was one of the worst pedi's I've had in a long time! I got one hell of a shin massage but my feet were barely touched. Im so disappointed and will seriously reconsider future visits. The whole experience was supposed to be 50 minutes as well and time was going to be cut very short if I hadn't inquired about the paraffin dip. At check out the customer service was lacking as well, I had to ask about getting set up at the dryer. After sitting at the dryer for a few minutes, I went to the desk and informed the woman that I didn't have a good experience today, she listened and stated that she would speak w the woman that provided my service. She was also very kind in offering me a $10 gift card for a future visit when I told her how disappointed I was. She actually gave me a $15 gift certificate which was a nice gesture, so at the very least I will give them another chance. I just parked my car and noticed a chunk of wax still on my heel(see photo). It was very disheartening after the one woman really tried to fix the poor customer service with a gift card, as a result, I have to drop today's star down to a two again. I'm on the hunt for a really good nail salon in the triangle. I don't think I'm super picky but I just want to find one that I like that provides good quality and service. I was going to make an appointment online but it's one of those systems where you basically request a date and time instead of the system only showing you what dates/times are available so I ended up just calling to make the appointment. I called on a Wednesday and requested a Saturday appointment. I parked in the parking deck nearby and it said you have to pay in advance (either at the pay station or online). I walked in and the receptionist had me check in on a tablet. I got SNS dipping powder with tips added since my nails are super short right now. I showed the nail tech a picture of nude nails with gold flakes but the nail tech didn't think it was possible with SNS and that it would probably need to be acrylic. Not a problem, as I had some backups planned. I showed the nail tech a picture of chrome nails to see if they could do it with SNS and she said they could. She had me sit down and began working on my nails. I thought it was a little strange that she didn't have me wash my hands first. I requested almond shape nails and didn't want them to be too long. The nail tech was super nice and asked every step of the way if I was satisfied (with the length, the shape, etc.) and I kind of just looked really fast and they seemed fine. I love the length and shape but when I looked closer at my nails after the appointment, 2 of my nails look a little crooked. I love the chrome effect on my nails. But I'm not super happy about how bumpy some of my nails are and the fact that there are a few bubbles on some of them. Also the sns was pretty thick. I will say that I didn't have any issues with the nails lifting at the cuticles over a 2 and a half week period so that is a positive. It's been many months since I had a pedicure. Being a rather hefty guy over a certain age, my feet require a certain level of attention that I am unable to give. I called ahead to make sure they would be open on a Wednesday night a week before Christmas. One never knows. I arrived a few hours before closing, checked in, and barely was seated before being summoned to the back. I was sat right next to the only other patron, which is always awkward when you're a guy. Maybe ladies like to sit close to strangers while they are having their nails worked on. Guys don't. I got a drink from the menu and enjoyed having my feet in the warm water. But somewhere along the way, the gentle scrubbing and nail trimming started to hurt, and I looked down at the tops of my feet and they were bleeding! I have eczema, and she had scrubbed the places raw with a rough implement of some sort. Both feet had places about 3" or 4" across that were red and bleeding. I was too embarrassed to say anything so just paid and left. I have a friend who is a skin care professional who helped with the dressing and bandaging. Six months later, the skin on top of my feet had started to not show damage and scarring. It was well over a year before they were back to normal, showing no signs of abuse. I will never return to this place since they clearly are not aware of what is a bunion and what is a rash. read more

There are a couple of technicians that do an incredible job (like Beatrix) but if you don't know who to ask for you risk getting a manicure that is subpar. I don't think i was in the place more than 10 minutes. I will have to file my nails at home because she didn't file them completely or they way i asked her to. I shouldn't have jagged nails. I've been to Bliss two times now--well, three. Lemme 'splain: As others have said, Bliss is really nice in terms of ambience and comfort. It's also not far from my house, which is a bonus. On my first visit, I got a pedicure that lasted a long time and I have no complaints except that some of their nail polish is priced differently but there's no way to know that in advance. (Except now you do!) On my second visit, I got a manicure. Since that's something I do probably less than once a year, I don't really know what's *supposed* to happen besides some soaking, some clipping, some painting, and some drying. During that drying part, my friend and I started to get a little concerned because our nails just wouldn't dry. They looked goopy and gross, and were smudging like nobody's business. Some other friends had gotten manis AND pedis in the time we got our manis and were waiting for them to dry. Finally, my friend went back to her technician who quickly redid her paint. I had to run, so I asked the girl at the desk if I could come back later that day to get them redone, and she said I could. So I did. When I returned just before closing, the new technician asked me which nail I needed touched up. Nail, singular? Ha! She had to redo all of them. She was texting someone while she did it, which was annoying, but she apologized and was ultimately very quick. And the manager apologized when I left. My friend thinks that both of our first technicians missed a step, but like I said: I don't know enough about the process to know what would have been missing. Maybe there's an issue with training at this place. So. Was it a good experience? No. Did they make it right? Yes. Will I hurry back? No, but that's probably because I don't get my nails done very often anyway. read more

The most recent time I came, I tried calling at 12:50 pm to reserve time to just have my gel extensions removed around 6 pm that day. They said they couldn't take a reservation for that, but that it would be fine for me to walk in then. When i actually did come, they refused to serve me because they were suddenly understaffed. This place is one of the biggest nail salons in the area, and for that reason if you have friends coming with you, a group, etc. this place has plenty of chairs for pedicures and stations for manicures. They give you some wine or water with your service which is always nice, but the price here is higher than others in the area. A pedicure doesn't include rubbing off hard spots on your feet at all like other places do and it is much more money. I also had SNS dip done here twice and it always came off within a week or so, and I switched back to regular gel manicures which tended to last longer. This place is on 9th and attached to a small parking deck. I was worried about parking but was delighted to realize it wasn't an issue. +50 right off the bat. My mother and I walked in for mani-pedis. The manicure was fantastic and my feet are both besparkled and decallused. Cute colors, great service, super clean location- all the basic "great place" boxes get ticked here. I was really impressed, however, with how they helped my mother. She wanted her gel nails removed and a clear coat put on- she recently broke her arm and having her arm jostled or moved too much causes her a lot of pain- but her nails were overdue and she wanted to go natural for the interim. They were so great with minding a seriously painful injury. I think she had a single twinge of pain at one point but that was it. The tech was just perfect. I went to Bliss the day before my wedding with my bridal party to get our nails done - they had fantastic reviews and the the place looked super cute. And, it is a really nice, inviting, clean atmosphere. However, my nails (both mani and pedi) turned out HORRIBLE. My (acrylic-ed) fingers literally looked like they had lumpy marshmallows stuck on them. And my toes were just sloppy - gel nail polish on the skin, uneven rhinestone accents, etc. (See pics) To make matters worse, my mani-pedi took over 4 HOURS (my girls were all done hours before me), and I had to get to my rehearsal dinner, so I didn't have time to get them redone before my wedding. (To clarify, I got a pedicure with gel polish with minimal rhinestones accents, and a full set of acrylics... should have been maybe 2.5 hours of work) I did go back to get them redone before my honeymoon, saw a different nail tech (who seemed pretty astonished at how bad they were) and did a pretty good job at fixing them. I've been coming to Bliss since it opened about a year ago, and I love it. Even though there can be a short wait at times, I'm glad to see that business has picked up. The salon is nicely decorated and has no loud/distracting TVs so I can really have peace and quiet. Chairs are comfortable and there's a decent selection of magazines in case you're not feeling up to staying glued to your phone. I'm pretty sure they have every OPI and Essie color, and there are tons of options for gel polish. I recently dropped in to have SNS polish removed - I had it applied at another salon when I was out of town. I regret not going to Bliss because it was not applied correctly. What I thought would be a quick appointment turned into a long one - the normally quick soak off was not cutting it due to the excessive product that had been applied. At this point, I was very anxious about my vehicle being towed or ticketed since I hadn't paid for longer parking. The owner, Susan, relieved my fears and even offered to pay if my car did get ticketed or towed. There are not many business owners whom I think would do the same. I visited Durham with 3 college friends to surprise one of our friends who now lives there. We wanted to take her out for her 30th birthday, so we decided to hit up Bliss. They were the only nail salon that was able to accommodate all 5 of us without previous reservations ON A SATURDAY! This is very rare. We all thoroughly enjoyed our services. I'm extremely particular about nail services, but everything was meticulous, and the products they used were wonderful!
