After looking at the reviews here on Yelp I was hesitant to try this place. However, I did notice that a lot of the reviews don't mention who their nail tech was that handled their service, which is a bit annoying because as a new customer you want to make sure you don't get that bad nail tech. Sooo, I'm reviewing my experience for my nail tech, KIM. I should start by saying that Kim has been amazing! I wanted to wait to write a review because with nails you want to make sure they don't chip, break, etc. I have been here now 3X's, all my appointments have been with Kim, and my nails have never looked better. She is patient and a perfectionist, where other nail techs are rushing to get you in and out, she takes her time to make sure the job is done correctly. I get dip mani, and usually a regular pedicure. I request her to do both. They last a long time with no breaks, chips, snags, etc. I will say that the prices have gone up. This last time I went I ended up paying more than the previous times and I did not even get a color on my feet. Just a regular pedicure and a dip mani. Not sure if it's a holiday thing, or what, but will need to pay more attention next time. Cute place, clean, and busy. Make an appointment, especially now during the holidays. read more

I walked in on a busy day without an appointment, I wasn't sure if I would be able to get in, but they were extremely kind and accommodating. Let me talk about Vincent for a second- he went above and beyond to make sure everything was done correctly and well the whole time. Vincent is so kind and thoughtful! He knew exactly what I was asking for when I didn't even know how to describe the color I was looking for. He was incredibly professional and very fun to talk to! I was a bit worried about going here based on the reviews, but decided to give it a try anyway because the location was so convenient for me. Turns out I really should have listened to the reviews... Of all the 10+ nail salons I've tried in the Triangle, Bliss is by far the worst. I got a gel pedicure and spent about $80 after tip. The nail tech spoke almost no English, so it wasn't really possible to give her any instructions about my nail shape, length, etc. Immediately upon leaving the salon, I noticed there were a couple little chunks (dust I guess) imbedded into the streaky, patchy gel. Within one week, the gel flaked off both my pinky nails and I noticed how paper thin the nails were from over filing. After a couple weeks, the gel almost completely chipped off all my toes. The service was incredibly rushed, she never asked me my nail shape and completely filed down my perfectly grown out nails. They left my nails a complete mess and had a horrible attitude. Avoid this salon!!!!!! My dip powder lasted no more than a few days before they were painfully breaking and chipping. Not worth the cost or rude attitude from all staff involved. I was traveling for work and when I called two weeks later to try and get them redone when I was back in town, the salon informed me that their policy is to redo nails within three days of the first appointment. The fact that they only will insure a dip manicure for three days is quite telling, especially given other reviews for similar concerns! Several sources online (even American Academy of Dermatology) state that dip manicures can last up to four weeks and only lasting three days is unacceptable. Their response, verbatim: "The policy states a 3 day grace period for any client who need a fix. I don't make the rules. I'm just relaying the rules." I agree with everyone else's reviews about waiting forever and the staff being discourteous. During my appointment, I was left to soak my existing dip for over 40 minutes. My hands were burning so I started to scrub the dip off myself. Only then did the employee come over to ask me what I was doing and begrudgingly sat down to start the manicure. His attitude persisted throughout the entire manicure and left me feeling uncomfortable as a paying customer. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Bliss to anyone and I'm unsure how they have as high of a rating that they do. read more

I would say although Bliss does a very thorough job every time, and the final product usually looks beautiful/how I'd like it to for both manicures and pedicures, the vibe seems very stressed and transactional. I have been to other nail bars before and felt more at ease (and less like they want me to walk out the door asap). The workers at Bliss always rush and seem stressed. I wish that the atmosphere seemed more like a spa than transactional and pushing people out the door. Nonetheless, the final products typically look good and I've never been mistreated here. As a UNC student, I came here often (once every 2-3 months). I'd recommend it if you are looking for good quality work and don't mind the atmosphere. read more

Listen, I'm picky. I'm very very very picky about my nails. I've been to a couple of salons in the area with stellar reviews and was starting to get really bummed out that nothing I'd found yet even sort of compared to back home... until I found Bliss. I know I'm going to sound like a complete snob, but I have been so disappointed with my experiences elsewhere that other people raved about. I was getting frustrated having to keep trying out places and not being happy with the results. But then I found Bliss and let me just tell you... This place is INCREDIBLE. They do great work, the staff is super friendly, the salon is beautiful, they give you wine, and overall it's a great experience. I've been so pleased with my nails and they do the design work I like. I get compliments on my nails all the time. It's also really hard to find a salon that does pedis the way I like them. I love a long massage, but the nail sculpting and callus removal is also really important to me. They are fantastic in this department. They have various levels of service and if you want to splurge, their signature pedi is out of this world! I love Bliss nail salon and am so happy I found them. Just moved to the area and this was the first nail salon I tried. First fill there was a disaster but I chocked it up to the tech and inexperience. Decided to try a second time today with the owner and this is literally the worst manicure I've ever had. The staff here is sooo nice. I 'm really indecisive about what colors to pick out so it really helps out when the staff helps you decide and recommends colors and different materials for the nails. This is the first time I give liquid gel a try thanks to a staff members recommendation and I love how it looks and how it feels. I'm pretty sure it's the only thing I'll be asking for from now on. As far the nail tech that did my nails: he absolutely knows what he's doing and makes sure you walk out with a perfect set. He took his time with filling and shaping and even after I said I liked how they looked (which I genuinely did) I guess he saw a few that could look better and he made them look even better. I've tried other places because they are closer to where I live, and I've had sets that I don't like. I guess that's what I get for cheating on them lol. They're definitely worth the drive. I had my nails done here probably 6 times before deciding I wouldn't be back. I kept trying it because overall, I was happy with my nails most times. However, the quality of the work varies significantly between technicians- I've had gel manicures that lasted over 2 weeks and one that chipped after only 2 days. They rely on the dremel a lot to remove gel (rather than soaking for a longer period of time), so I started removing it on my own before going in for another manicure in order to avoid the nail damage. What really made up my mind, though, is the overall vibe. As others have noted, most of the staff seem unhappy, annoyed, and just kind of rude. It's uncomfortable to be there. read more

Well...went back yesterday to repair 1 broken, 1 cracked, and to get a balance. Scheduled an appointment on Monday for 5:30. I've realized, making an appointment isn't really worth it. I arrived early and we didn't start till 6 or a little after. The woman I had was nice but seemed in a rush. I asked her to cut them down to match my real nail, just because of my set being from the last salon and obviously not in the best of shape. I wanted oval to just make them somewhat cute for being so short. She cut me twice on my right hand from rushing. The skin around most of my nails are so sore from her filing! The shape on each finger doesn't really match the next or the other hand. I really enjoyed my first experience but I do not think I'll be returning. I'm so disappointed in my nails. I watched everyone receive such good service and great nails. And I only came because this place had great reviews. Unfortunately I did not get what I asked for even though I communicated effectively, emphasized what I wanted, showed pictures, and still took way too long to do a botchy job. I'm just pissed because why are nails so expensive? I left with crust under my nails, they were chipped, not the color base I wanted and filed so ugly. I should've just paid $10 for press ons. First impressions: the salon is SUPER cute and cozy. Very clean and bright. The owner/ manager was very friendly and personable. That's kind of where it ended. I got dip on natural nail with removal. My friend had a pedicure. We each had a 10:00am appointment - and I'm used to going to salons that are so busy you need an appointment to get in. That's what i prefer. This is that kind of place. It's a good sign, in my opinion. My friend got a pedicure and was in a chair right away. I needed to soak my dip off and pick a color. The girl who wrapped my nails wasn't very friendly. The owner told me to pick a dip color from the basket once i signed in and i picked 2-3 and the girl told me they didn't have it, without looking... with an attitude. She didn't use enough cotton and acetone for my soak off. Now, I understand the cost of acetone has gone up since COVID, and i can respect wanting to be conservative with usage, however my soak off took literally 40 minutes... of a 60 minute appointment. So my friend was done WAY before me. We weren't in a hurry, which is fine, but if we were I would have been much more upset. During my 40 minutes waiting, other clients were seen that were walk ins, but I definitely felt forgotten about. I was checked on after about 25 minutes and my polish was still pretty secure in place. No acetone was added to speed up the process. I picked a new color also. Eventually someone came back to remove my polish and re-dip. She was very nice and friendly. Around the 1hr 20min point she had someone else come over and work on my other hand at the same time to finish my set. All said and done, reasonable price and pretty. Good quality. Or so I thought. My dips usually last 4 weeks without cracks, chips, or any kind of defects. I've been getting my nails done for almost 20 years, dip since it was available in my area, around 8 years, so I'm familiar with how it works and works on me. After 2 weeks, my polish and top coat on at least 3 nails has cracked, and shattered on one nail so far. Also, the color wasn't as close to my cuticle as I'd like, so after 3 weeks it looks like it's been a lot longer. If I was a regular (I would be if I lived there), I would just ask for a third coat of color. Overall, I'd recommend or visit again. I wanted to really like this place. The staff here was polite and friendly and it was a nice time. Unfortunately there are things that need to be fixed. For instance, they need to be clearer with their prices. When they ask you how you would like your nails shaped, it would be important to know that there's an extra cost for certain ones. My daughter asked how much acrylics were and was quoted a price and then later we paid 20 bucks more. I just called the lace and they clarified the extra cost for gel and the extra cost for shaping and there's also an extra $5 per person for Covid. I was happy when they saw us a couple of hours before closing as walk ins but I was told to go wash my hands after the last coat of polish was done and came back to an empty chair -- the manicurist had left without even a good bye -- no lotion or hand massage included and I was still wearing the foamy things on my feet! Lastly... I got a dip manicure. This is what I usually get elsewhere and they last until my nails grow out... 3-4 weeks. I have found my permanent nail salon. I was born and raised in this area, moved away and recently moved back with my new fiance - now husband. I walked in to Bliss Nail Bar on a Wednesday morning shortly after they opened needing to get my wedding nails done. As soon as I walked in I was greeted warmly and taken to a welcoming waiting area - there was a table with nail color choices and comfy chairs. I got a pedicure by the wonderful Summer and she did great on my stubby, crusty toe nails. They've never looked so good. As for my nails, when I tell you Bill and Destiny treated me so well, THEY TREATED ME SO WELL. Just look at the pictures! Bill explained everything he was doing. I had broken a nail the day before (I know...) and he added a tip to that nail. I can't even remember which nail I broke now. It's that good. Destiny brought my design to life and it's even more beautiful than the inspo pic. Please, please, if you are in the area and are in need of some self care or just want to meet some nice people, drop in. Safe to say this is this WORST nail service I've had to date. I had looked online prior to booking here and the reviews were mixed, but I decided to try Bliss. Do not make the same mistake. I wanted a simple french manicure (full set), which normally is at least an hour at other salons, I was out in 30 minutes here. My service was extremely rushed, as the workplace environment seems to be stressful and negative towards employees and customers alike. Discussion between the employees was negative towards fellow employees and other customers as well. When I was finished with the service, I realized half of the nails were crooked and my skin was covered in nail polish. I asked for one nail to be redone, and every employee seemed angry at this request. I would be more forgiving if the service was less expensive, but I was charged almost $80 for lazy and mediocre work. My old mani/pedi spot does gel-only now, so when I was looking for a new place to go Yelp suggested this spot. And it's great! This is right by the barre3 and Whole Foods, so there's plenty of parking on weekdays and being a walk-in wasn't a problem. He did a fantastic job and was so professional! I told him how I wanted my nails and wanted them shortened a "little bit" -- he did exactly what I wanted without me needing to explain any further or needing to ask a second time. The person who greeted me was friendly and offered me a drink when I arrived. The salon is bright and so cute. Everything was so comfortable and relaxed (I loved the fuzzy cushions on the chairs!). My appointment was at 2:30, I arrived a little early and they started right away! Now, it was a Thursday afternoon and they were a little busy, but that was still nice. When Kyle asked if I wanted any design on my nails and when I told him I was kind of a "plain nails kind of gal", he didn't keep trying to 'up-sell' me which was such a welcome change. It was awful. First I just wanted a gel polish change, need I say overpriced for the quality of the service. If you could provide your clients with a good service then the price is justifiable, but I wasted an hour of my time (most importantly). I can see the brush strokes in my dried gel. Not to mention that she did not let the top coat dry so after my nails were very opaque, so I said something and she had to re do it. All my nails were shaped and cut to different lengths on each hand. If you're charging $35 for this service at least ensure that your nail techs know what they are doing. Also I would have hairs or specs on my nails and she would paint over it and when I would point it out because my nail had texture to it, instead of removing it she would paint over it again and again (this was before drying the bc gel, meaning she could have fixed it). I went to the salon by myself yesterday (they take walk ins!!) and my experience there was peaceful. i was nervous that i haven't shaved my legs in a week or two and that the guy would judge my hairy legs but he didn't. The pedicure experience was soothing (i got the classic pedicure. I also wanted to get a manicure yesterday (i was nervous about this part of the appointment) and i love my set! I'd like the mention that I have a physical disability with my left arm that makes it difficult for my arm to sit naturally due to movement restrictions. The nail tech was so professional and nice about it, even though it made his job a little difficult he did his best to ensure i was comfortable the entire time! The environment is overall soothing and friendly and the staff are always walking around ensuring you're comfortable. Love this place!!! read more

Horrible experience. Will never go back. To start with, I saw the owner being very rude to many customers including myself while getting a pedicure. I decided to stay quiet and not say anything since there was many customers around. When I went to pay, I very QUIETLY and in a subtle manner (so that it other customers don't hear it) told him that his technician was being very unhygienic by using the same tools he was using on me to dig into the pedicure bowl drain (since it was stuck). He looked at me very angrily and very loudly in front of the entire set of customers said to me "don't ever come back here!" For quietly pointing out unhygienic practices which I didn't have to protect him for but I did! I have heard horror stories from friends about this place but sadly witnessed it myself. read more
