Amazing experience! I walked in for a pedicure and was seated immediately. The basic pedicure with gel polish was $55, and the woman who did my nails (did not get her name unfortunately!) did a great job. She was such a perfectionist and I love how my toes came out! I'm not local to the area, but my friend (who I'm visiting) came with me and she said she's returning for sure. Great service for a great price, and so conveniently located, too! I also really appreciated that I wasn't upsold on any addition products during my visit--so rare nowadays! read more

Love my spring nails from Mya! The salon was very busy for the holiday weekend, however, Mya took her time on my nails and even explained the application/upkeep process of Gel X nails (something I had never tried before). read more

Gwen and GiGi do amazing nails. The ambience of the shop is welcoming and they really care about making you happy.

They did a great job on my nails and eyebrows. I'll continue to use their services. It was crowded when I got there, so I had to wait. They offered me wine while I waited, which was really nice. read more

Gwen is amazing! Not everyone can do such a great job with color acrylic. She did better than the pic I brought in. So happy I found her. All of the staff were so friendly. read more

I asked for a french dip manicure with tips. All went well until the stylist drew on white tips with regular polish. This completely negates the point of having a dip! It all chipped off within 3 days! I would NOT recommend this salon to anyone! read more

Avalon Nail Salon - Just 3 days after a french dip with tips. A dip should not have painted on white tips! Chipped and worthless. A waste of $65! - Nail Salons Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

I adore this salon. Gwen is my absolute favorite but honestly everyone in the salon has the same work ethic and great attitude. They want you to be happy. I get dip and my nails are never too think and I never have polish on my cuticles. Now that I moved, I still drive over 20 min for my service . read more

I am from out of town and my nails were a hot mess. This is by far THE BEST manicure I have ever had. My nail tech was Nina and I absolutely love her work. I wish I could fly here to get my nails done regularly. read more

This business doesn't have basic courtesy to run a business! I called spoke with someone for at least 5 mins reconfirm I want appointment with specific specialist and was assured she is there. Left my phone number just in case something changes.I come to the appointment person I requested was not there. Did not even offer me someone else. Words of apology do not resolve a messed up day! read more

I normally get my nails done at another salon but she always finishes my nails in 10 mins and they end up breaking. I wanted somewhere closer to my job so I found Avalon. I am normally a little scared to go to new places to get my nails done. But Lennie took her TIME with my nails she was so patient with me the whole time and did my nails so good!! I will definitely be coming back here to get service from her!! read more

This was such a nice nail spot! My friend and I made an appointment, just to make sure we could sit together, for pedicures. We came in, were greeted warmly, and picked out our polish colors. We got the detox pedicures which included a scented soak and a calf and foot massage. We were even given bottles of water. The pedicures came out beautifully. I would definitely go back to enjoy the soothing vibes of this nice spot! read more

I really don't like this place. I went to get my toes done with my friend. I had to wait a while as my friend was running late and so i had time to see some people come and go. Sanitation was my first concern. I didn't notice them cleaning out the soaking tubs at the ends of the chairs well. Also I didn't see them use any sterilized products they use on your feet. Not all places do but I feel hygiene is important. So strike one (and two)! Secondly I felt the technicians were so rude. Mine was complaining to her friend that my nails were too short and was very condescending. It was really annoying. These experiences are supposed to be relaxing and pleasant and frankly this was anything but! I won't be back. read more

Honestly, the wait I just experienced and the people getting serviced before me who came in after me deserves zero stars. Someone could've definitely started on my pedicure while waiting to get my SNS nail technician. No one wants to spend hours in a nail salon...especially since they don't service you at the same time. Please hire more people and be cognizant of the order of service for your customers!!! Also, there aren't many trendy SNS colors to choose from. read more

My nails were uneven and some of my toes were half-painted after my gel manicure and pedicure. Do not recommend for the price.

Pretty basic gel manicure, but she did a nice neat job. No extra arm massage or anything like that, but my fingers look great. Ambiance is nice and clean. No wait. A little pricier than some competing nail salons, but it was convenient and I was already at Southpoint. read more

This was the worse pedicure I ever had. The technician was not interested in doing a good job, just going through the motion. My daughter treated me to the pedicure, I don't remember the specific one but it had a special citrus treatment and massage. I was more focused on the callous removal part of the service which was horrible. As you may know, it's impossible to talk to some technicians about the service they are performing to let them know how you would prefer it or for them to do it better to your liking. This technician was of the school of thought that i'd never had a proper pedicure in my 66 years on this earth. My recommendation is find another salon, there are too many good ones in Durham where your money will be welcomed. The $70.00 my daughter spent on my service today could have been better spent at a salon who takes pride in their work instead of just trying to go through the motions and taking your money. Avalon is good for booking multiple appointments at the same time if you're doing a girls day because of the size of the salon and large staff. However, if you wanted quality services go elsewhere. read more

They do a great job for gel mani and pedi. I've tried a lot of places in Durham and so far and this one does the nicest job with shaping and painting that I've had yet. I haven't had to wait long and the girls have been easy to work with and sweet. read more

I was a bit skeptical of this salon at first, I heard very mixed reviews from friends over the past few years. After my visit today I realized why I heard the bad reviews. The SNS seemed to be a struggle for a few of the team members. I asked for a white color and received a pink/ nude color. It was a very messy job and took over 2 hours for this and a "pedicure". Highly disappointed, would not recommend. read more

I will say that the girls at Avalon did a good job of painting my nails. They look cute and have held up well. BUT, they have just about the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. EVER. I just moved to the area and was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in a long while to get manicures and catch up. I called ahead to say we'd be coming in and make sure they had time for us, and they said we didn't have to make an appointment. So I came in, waited for my friend to arrive, and then we were led to the stations. However, we were far across the room from one another, so my friend asked if we could sit together. Then all the employees started talking in another language to one another. My nail tech was laughing and talking to her nail tech who was scowling. Eventually we got to sit next to each other. Her nail tech was slamming stuff around and being really obviously mad about us wanting to sit next to each other. Both of the nail techs just kept talking to each other in another language and laughing or scowling. My friend apologized if we had inconvenienced them. Neither of them answered. My friend asked the employee if she'd had an ok day. "No, not ok," was the employee's reply. My friend said, "What happened?" No response. My friend again apologized. No answer. I tried to explain why we wanted to sit next to each other, and I apologized as well. No answer. These employees were speaking English to us plenty when we first arrived, so I know they understood us. My employee was pleasant enough, although I'm fairly sure she was making fun of us. All in all, it was a terribly unpleasant and awkward experience. It should not be a huge deal for 2 friends to sit next to each other. Even if it's inconvenient you can't just ignore them when they speak to you and treat them like total scum. It was pretty horrible. If you go, just bring a book, and go alone. The service itself looked great, but I would never go there with a friend ever again. read more

This is definitely a gem. I was visiting from out of town, and my stepmom and I decided to get pedis. I was having foot surgery a few days later, so I wanted my feet to look presentable. We walked in on a Monday afternoon and got right in. We picked out our polish and were seated side by side. These chairs are no joke - they are excellent massage givers. They don't stop unless you stop them either. Very relaxing. We were asked which pedis we wanted, and if we wanted waxing, but it wasn't pushy. I decided I wanted the spa pedi, which included more massage, a paraffin treatment and was just an upgrade. It was $40 (versus $28 for the regular) but I wanted to splurge. It was fabulous!!! My nail tech did an awesome job. My toenails look AWESOME. The paraffin and callus removal was great, and the massage was the best and longest I've ever had. My stepmom and I were able to talk and relax with no problem. The best part? I had my surgery a few days later, and the nurses commented on how cute my toes looked. Score! read more

What I like about Avalon is that you feel secure knowing that you are receiving the same great service, no matter which attendant works on your nails and feet. The place is operated like a production line, but in a positive way. They get you in; the same person does your feet and hands; the process is efficient, and you don't have to sit and wait forever for service. I really love the work Helen did on my feet. The effort was seemless but perfect. I can only suggest that you go on a weeknight to avoid larger crowds at this Mall strip location. read more

I walked in here with some friends from out of town, as we had "Getting Our Nails Did" on the list of things to do that day. The first thing I was surprised at? How large this place is. They've got one huge room that showcases several rows of nail stations, a line of pedicure stations on one side, AND a back room with several more pedicure stations. This also means that the place is quite busy, and has a large staff. I could see it getting to be kind of a zoo in there. The second thing I was surprised at, was that despite it looking like it was super busy, we got in within ten minutes and were promptly taken care of. All three of us, without a reservation? Nice. Its probably been about a month since (and therefore time to get another one).. and during that month, I've walked through a few airports, done an olympic distance triathlon (along with the training that goes with it), and stubbed my toe on a porch step - and I still have no chips in the polish. I call that a successful pedi! read more

I really want to give two stars for service, but am adding a third star because they were the only place who could get me in last minute this weekend! Basically, the woman giving me a gel manicure was obsessed with my cuticles (I'd had my nails done less than three weeks ago so it's not like my cuticles are wild) and overpicked them so much that all the following lotions etc she put on stung, and a few fingers still hurt today. Plus, one nail has already chipped 24 hours later. read more

By reading through the reviews, it's clear this business doesn't want business from Black customers. First, I was charged more than I was quoted when I called. No problem, I just took it out of the tip which wasn't my normal 20%. Second, the SNS I got made my nails FAR weaker than they had ever been when I got this same service elsewhere, in the DC area. My nails looked great (though very flimsy/weak) for about a week when I had to get them redone. SNS normally lasts 3 weeks for me. Had I read the reviews first, I never would have made this mistake but it will NEVER happen again! read more

Came in to have a pedicure with my sister in law after some Christmas shopping. The Salon is beautiful and clean but the ladies that did our feet were more concerned with salon drama than giving good service. My sister in law at least recieved a little bit of a massage. I got lotion thrown on my legs and then a hot towel, She didn't even rub the lotion in.. Won't be coming back here. read more

The last two times i have been here, they charged me $15 more than what was listed on the menu fir the services I requested. The last time, i verified the price for what i was requesting- nothing fancy, but extra moisturizer (honey or something like that i think) for the feet, and the technician spoke with the manager to verify and confirmed price. When i complained that they still charged more ($95 total, for 40 min service, not gel, not french) , she said that the technician misunderstood and would have to pay out of her own pocket. Of course i paid, but I will not return and now have concern about how the workers are being treated. read more

By far the worst pedicure I've ever had. My nail tech was extremely rude, rushing the entire time, burnt me with the hot towel, and then rushed me to pay her so she could move on. The salon is very small with very close quarters to the person sitting next to you. They offer nothing with their basic pedicures, and the prices do not reflect their services. We will not be back. read more

WARNING: If you have chemical sensitivities or asthma DO NOT go to this salon. The air quality is horrible. It smells like they are using plug ins on top of the already existing nail chemicals. I had to leave after getting sick and they charged me 70% of my treatment and she only cut my nails, cuticles, and buffed. I needed to get out of there so I didn't have time to argue. To me that is terrible customer service with no care for the customer. They are higher priced than most salons. Beware! read more

I've been going to this salon for years and I am never disappointed. I have tried many salons in the area, and none compare. The staff is well-trained and provided the best results around. Rarely do my nails look perfect when leaving a salon, but they always look perfect when I finish at Avalon. The atmosphere is relaxing - no TVs, so I get a break from the world when I go here. Also, the staff is always kind and professional - it's the only salon where I don't feel like I'm being judged or talked about. Finally, and most importantly, the salon is kept exceptionally clean, so I never feel worried about bacteria. I'll be coming back for years to come. read more

Avalon is the best place to get your nails done in the Triangle in my opinion. I have been going here for about three years now, and refuse to go elsewhere. It is a bit pricey, but is well worth the money. The only nail technician I see in this salon, is Kim. She is great! read more
