Just recently moved to Durham and have been looking for a place nearby who know how to do my nails the way I like, which is PERFECT. Soho Nails in Durham will be getting my business for sure! The gentleman who did my feet and toes, did an amazing job and my feet have not felt so smooth and soft on the bottom in a very long time. I have acrylic on my big toes and he did them perfectly as well. My fingernails were done with an acrylic fill in and silver chrome. I decided to come here because I saw pretty good reviews and I called ahead and asked about a student discount. The lady on the phone said that they only did student discounts from Monday through Wednesday so I waited until Tuesday to go in with a friend for mani & pedis. I end up getting the more expensive French manicure because I thought I'd have 10% off with my student discount only at the end the man told me they don't do it anymore? I'm not sure how one week would have changed it. I had out my ID and everything so I'm pretty disappointed. I also got this done on Tuesday, it's now Friday and it's already chipping at the edges and I haven't done any heavy manual labor. See photos. Pros: you don't have to wait long if you sent up a reservation, the people are friendly, Cons: it is a bit on the expensive side (I looked into multiple other places), I wasn't a fan of holding my hands out on the recline chair for my manicure, it just felt rushed, no student discounts I guess. Don't get regular polish, 3 days of mani isn't worth $60+ I just can't believe it couldn't atleast last a week. read more

This place is large, airy, and nicely decorated. The staff was super nice and helpful. The person who did my SNS nails was very nice and they paid a lot of attention to getting my nails just right. Made sure they were all even, everything was very neat and aesthetically pleasing. That being said, they did a VERY thin SNS and within the week 8 of my nails were cracked and broken. I happened to be out of town and it was a fairly (literally) painful experience. The breaks were all mid-nail and if you have had a broken nail you know that's a painful area. I had to find another nail place in the town I was in and I had to pay for another nail service well before I would have normal needed one. Plus tips because all of my nails broke off really short due to where the SNS had cracked. I have not been back there since but I will likely give them a second chance. read more

This salon was really cute ! I walked in and was immediately helped . I was impressed with the decor... there's even an alcohol bar with a menu! There is complementary water and soda . My nails were done by a guy but I can not remember his name . I just needed a polish change ($8) and I feel like he gave me a mini manicure ! They turned out really nice . Came here for mani-pedi, really liked this place! My nail polish lasted more than a week (normal polish) and my friend's polish lasted two weeks (?!). The bride to be in our group got her beautiful acrylic nails. Also, Justin was great!! He was both friendly and skillful (he did patterns using normal polish with no additional charge), and he insists we come back if our polishes wear off before the wedding and he would fix for free. All our nails looked great for the wedding, and lasted a long time, but I will ask for Justin for sure next time! read more

Worst customer service ever. I get my nails done every 2 weeks and decided to try this place out and I regret it. My manicurist was very rough with my nails and it was very painful. The manicure turned out very bad un even, blotchy, and one of my nails has a huge blob of polish. When I tried to bring it up he said I was too picky. They gave me 30% off at the end because of the results but honesty I should have asked for a refund. DONT COME HERE!!!! read more

I'd love to have given a 5 star review solely to Justin and Michael as they did my mother and daughter's pedicure and they were so nice and friendly! In the future, I will be booking with them. However, me and my other daughter had 2 women doing our pedicures. The one who did my daughter's did not talk to her at all, which isn't a big deal since my daughter is quite shy. But I was hoping some interaction was there like how Michael was with my other daughter. The one who did my pedicure, I showed inspiration pictures to since I wanted acrylic to be applied. My nails did not come out close to what I have showed. The gel application was really messy and looks like I have done it at home. The acrylic made my nails look like I haven't gotten them shaped in weeks. On top of that, I upgraded my pedicure package and the massage given was so rushed and not relaxing at all. But what really kind of threw me off was the fact that our original total was $170 for 4 pedicures. 2 kids, 2 upgraded pedicure packages, with acrylic & gel for one. THEN they called me after I have left to let me know they undercharged me and asked for cashapp. This was a bit upsetting considering how overpriced it was originally, then made me pay again after leaving. Seems quite unprofessional in my opinion due to the mistakes made upon payment. I wanted to love this place. This was my first time trying a nail salon in Durham and of course got on Yelp and decided to try this place. I completely LOVED my experience there. The salon is HUGE. I was greeted and sat almost immediately. The feel for the salon is a more luxurious one. My lady was an older lady who's name I did not catch (my fault completely) but she was so so so sweet and careful with my cuticles and took great care of me! The price for this place is higher than I usually spend at $35 but I was so happy with the service that I happily left a tip. I felt like a queen and will happily come back again! The nail artist was having difficulties with the top layer of my dip nails, so she filed it off then put a coat of clear gel polish on. I was okay with this at the time. Now I'm definitely NOT okay with that technique. For whatever reason the gel layer did not want to stick to the top of my dip polish (after about 5 days), it started peeling off. Now the dip layers are chipping. In less than two weeks my nails went from beautiful to atrocious. The only thing that should happen with dip nails in less than two weeks is to show some growth...not chipping. If I wanted to have chipped nails I'd get a regular manicure and not spend ~$60 (with tip) for dip. I'd also like to note that I have an office job. I don't work with my hands. read more

The minute I stepped foot into this salon I was greeted with a nasty tone by him. I asked him how much my nails were going to be and he said $60. For basic short almond shaped nails with color. I asked if he could do a simple design and gave me the biggest attitude ever. My friends noticed it and even his coworkers noticed his attitude too. Overall this is my first and last time coming here. I don't understand why he works with people if it's going to be such a bitch about it. I hope the owner fires him. Not a good look for the salon. I usually go to the Soho location in Cary. It was my first visit to the Durham location and I am definitely impressed. They do not take the short cut in taking off the previous polish. We sat there for a bit but it was to let our nails soak long enough for the previous dip polish to come off. I appreciated this as I feel it is definitely better for my nails. I wanted white coffin nails and that is exactly what I got :) The dip color I chose was not quite what I wanted but the technician recommended me the perfect white. My nails were filed pretty uniformly and the dip was shaped evenly across my nail. My nails have definitely gotten stronger and had a chance to grow with the dip polish. For those close to Durham I would definitely recommend this nail salon! It is also very large and clean so it would be good for larger parties. I would suggesting calling ahead for a reservation towards the afternoon as they get pretty busy. read more

The new shop in Durham is beautiful I would only go to the Cary location because the quality of work is the best anywhere! I saw a new shop was opening so I had to try it. I went in for a pedicure and dip nail. The atmosphere is beautiful and very clean. They change the plastic every time for pedicures. I just did the basic pedicure but it was very good and my toes look amazing. I had Victor doing my dip. He is amazing! Very quick and my nails are perfect!! I will request him next time. A friend and I got pedicures here in between medical appointments that had us in Chapel Hill for the day. It was around 2:00 on a Tuesday and there was no wait. The techs were quick, and friendly and extremely patient with my friend who has mobility limitations. After learning her next appointment time and given the fact that she did not have open toed shoes they recommended that she get gel instead, which was a wise decision. He didn't rush, made sure they were exactly how I wanted them to look, were exactly even and straight and what I felt was the extra attention most salons don't do anymore. Easy to chat with too! Unfortunately this was my first experience where the yelp reviews led me astray! I came here twice. The first time to get gel nails and the second to get them off. The person who did my nails was very friendly (hence the 2 rather than 1 star), but other than that I did not find the salon to be remarkable in any way. The main reason I'm reviewing is due to the second time I went. Please note this was my first time ever getting a gel manicure, so I don't have a comparison other than the word of my friends. I knew there would be a sanding tool, but I was surprised when the sanding experience went down to my actual nail. My actual finger was also accidentally sanded, but I knew it was a mistake so I wasn't upset about that. After the soaking of my nails in aluminum foil, each of my nails were then seriously scraped down to get the color off. I had planned to get gel again, but the whole experience made me so worried about my nails that I just got a regular manicure. When I told my friends about it afterward, they said there generally isn't much scraping after the soak and my description sounded unique. Now, just a few days after my manicure (which was not at all smooth), I took it off to discover dents and deep gashes in my nails. I'm incredibly disappointed and will not be back. read more

This place is great! The "spa" feels like a "spa"- it's clean, great lighting, and very peaceful with a nice and airy feel. I made an appointment for 3:30 on a Sunday, got there early (like 3) and they were very busy. They apologized to me several times about not being able to get me in early- for me it was no biggie- I was early! Still very nice and friendly staff, and very professional. And my mani/ pedi was amazing- perfect job in my mind. Especially because I wanted a very white (think tip of a french manicure) and you can totally see every flaw, and I know it's probably not an easy color to work with- it looks AWESOME!
