While they do a good job with designs, the nail techs are way too harsh with the e-file and their acrylic nails are done poorly and pop off within a week. Today I soaked off my nails have rings from the acrylic set and fill-ins that I have gotten the last 3 times I was there. My nails are now ruined, super thin and now I have to grow them out for a long time before I can get acrylic again. Don't go there unless you want your nail beds to be destroyed. Additionally, their pedicures are mediocre and I still have to go home and use my own callous remover for my feet to be smooth. For the prices they charge, their service should be 110% better. I have been there three times out of convenience and I am a firm believer in second chances (even thirds) but that was a mistake and I won't be returning. read more

We were quickly sat in a chair to get our toes done and once I asked for a basic service the tech quickly told me i should get the tropical service "to help with my heals". When we said we had requested both, they didn't have time because other walk ins had come (okay???). We left and after closer inspection my toes weren't painted well and there was some paint on the skin. This was my first time going here last weekend. The customer service was nice, and they are super friendly. I got a regular pedicure with regular polish. I also got a manicure but with gel polish. When i got home and looked at my the bottom of my feet i had to go back over the work because my feet was not smooth at all. Although my polish looked good. Another person did my manicure and i really liked the way he shaped my nails and my polish was great. But the very next morning it started chipping. I paid $20 extra so that it would last. I had a photo shoot 2 days after with chipped nails that i had to hide. Its been a week and 2 days today and my regular polish is still in tact. Don't pay for the gel polish it wont last. We started off at the same time with pedicures. We both got the $31 basic pedicures and I have no complaints. My mom finished a bit earlier than me, so she was sat in a manicure chair, and we were hoping the technician would begin her manicure. I finished up a minute or so after her and was immediately brought to a chair and the technician who did my pedicure started on my nails. After waiting about 20 minutes to get started, my mom became a little impatient and began looking for her nail technician. She was assured she'd start in a few minutes. After my entire manicure was through, my mom still hadn't been seen. This irritated me, so I asked the technician who did my nails if she could start on my mom's. Her response was a simple, "No." Finally, Lynn came to the rescue and started on my mom's nails and assured us she'd be quick. She was very pleasant, and the three of us had a great conversation and laughed and joked around with one another. Lynn was quick, but she didn't miss a beat. My mom's nails looked fabulous. When we were checking out, she apologized and gave us a 10% discount, which I thought was very sweet. If it weren't for Lynn's wonderful customer service and charming personality, I probably wouldn't return, but I've decided I will return, and will be sure to call ahead and request her. read more

I paid $60 only to get cute on every finger. I really wanted to like this nail place because Paris nail bar across the street always has a huge wait time. That should've been my first clue, because this nail place ford very rough and very sloppy work. They are also very unsanitary, I watched the lady working there doing someone's pedicure and helping her put on her shoes without gloves, and then work on my manicure without washing her hands. Disgusting. They claim they couldn't do a gel manicure on my nails because there was a crack. I asked them to cut it, but they said dip powder would be better and they lied about the price. It's almost $60 for the record, they lied by $10. I then proceeded to get a very sloppy dip manicure from a gentleman working there, and he did not even push back my cuticles, he didn't take care of my nails, etc. just did a rushed and sloppy dip which resulted in me getting cuts on several fingers from the filing. Also, this man did not even bother, asking me what shape I wanted and proceeded to cut my nails so short and do a very ugly round shape. I wanted an almond. I won't be coming back here. read more

Friendly techs.....not happy that my pedicure looks like the polish is separating and cracking after a few days. It looks as if the polish is shrinking and drawing inward, and it has a blue tint to the polish like dark denim transfer (haven't worn jeans nor blue socks) and wasn't there when I left the salon the polish was shiny and vibrant (oil was applied by the tech so they looked good with the oil on them)...weird. My nails on my left hand all split at the same location and peeled off (a drill was used), so now the right hand has nails and the left has nubs. I believe in second chances, so I'll get a different tech the next time, hopefully will have better results. read more

Whenever I am in Durham I go to Mimi nail spa to get a manicure or pedicure. They are almost always open for walk ins without having to wait. They have a lot of great colors and will even do nail art. It's very clean inside and they definitely pay attention to detail. For a gel manicure it is $35 which is a very standard price. read more

Was the atmosphere nice? Yes it was. Was the service friendly and the massage nice? Yes it was. Are my toes painted and sculpted? Yeah. The chair was comfy, the music serene, the foot soak relaxing, and the polish well-applied (sort-of). But those are transient. I don't care what my toes look like--I'm not a fashionista. The only reason I can conscience spending money on my _feet_, of all things, is so that I don't have to endure scratchiness in the sheets at night, or embarrassment in flip-flops. And that, my friends, is where Mimi Nail Spa totally drops the ball. I even bought the second-tier Tropical "Callous Removing" Pedicure (it's even in the name people!!) where they slather oranges on your legs, put lots of lotions and scrubs on your toes, and you walk away smelling like the best cocktail you've ever wanted to drink. But still with cracked rough heels! I could tell this guy was half-assing the bottoms of my feet as he was doing it, but upon my commenting, all he could say was yeah, I see. Basically, my verdict is: if you like wasting time and money for someone to paint your nails, go for it, but if you want a real pedicure, go somewhere else. read more
