I've looked at various nail salons around Chapel Hill but none have hit my standards in terms of care and results. My technician was Vinny and he did not disappoint. He took wonderful care and focused on small details others have missed. He did an exceptional job. I received their lavender garden pedicure which was lovely. I get really bad ingrown nails on my right big toe. Other salons just move past it but Vinny made sure to remove the ingrown and asked if it felt better. It was so much better! We moved on to my hands, I have small nail beds so I need a stronger type of extension. I originally came in for gel with tip as most salons I've asked don't carry gel-x. To my surprise, Vinny noticed my small nail beds and recommended the gel-x. The experience was wonderful. The salon very clean and polished and very welcoming and exceptional costumer service. They asked multiple times if I'd like a complementary water, wine, tea, etc. I may have just found the salon that works best for me and my needs! Give them a try you won't be disappointed read more

The environment is fine, super friendly people. But don't tell somebody you can do a design then absolutely botch it. I'm a very nice person and understanding. I was in there for 3 hours. And at the point we were done I was so irritated and ready to go, knowing I was going to get them fixed somewhere else. I just paid $225 for a full set. I'll give it to them they do a great pedicure. I got a gel manicure and was told it was going to be 38$ and i ended up paying 60$. In addition to this my gel polish wasnt fully cured on one of my toes and it peeled and polish was left on the side of my toes. read more

I was looking for a place that had good reviews- I actually went on Google and this place had 5 stars. Not sure why it's so low here on Yelp but I highly recommend this salon. We were offered drinks and seated promptly for our special pedicure, we got the fall seasonal pedicure that was on sale and enjoyed it a lot! Nothing I hate more than paying good money for a pedicure and then feeling disappointed that it was too rushed. That's not the case here! Today was my 2nd time coming to 5th nail lounge. The promos are great, the vibe is relaxing, super clean and smells amazing. I love the lavender neck pillow (and I'm normally not a lavender fan). But most of all the service is amazing! Everyone me and my girls have encountered have been kind and given us exactly what we ask for. If I had to change anything.. it would just be that the massage be more about the feet than legs and last as long as advertised. Will definitely be my spot as long as it stays this way! I was excited to get my nails done in preparation for a proposal and asked to have a French fill in by one of their best nail techs. Their customer service seemed to be pretty good up until I constantly had to tell the male nail tech to fix the French he was freehanding. I honestly have never experienced such a rushed and sloppy job. As you can see from my pictures, the French tips were not only uneven, but all different sizes. Even prior to paying for my services--I mentioned again to the nail tech and showed him where he made mistakes yet he did not attempt to fix anything. Instead, I only got an apology and was still charged full price. It was $70 total for this set(mind you, it's a short nail set-FILL) $50 for the fill and a ridiculous extra $15 for the French just because it was something other than white!!! I would not recommend coming here for anybody who is looking for high quality work. read more

I have been to 5th Nail Lounge a few times and the service was good but I went today and had a new girl and had the absolute worst experience ever. I was getting a fill in and she used a UV flashlight to dry one of my nails and my nail started to smoke and I had to rip it away. I have never been in so much pain it felt like someone was holding my finger down in boiling water. My finger went numb after and she told me that it was fine. She then proceeded to file my nails and ripped the skin and it started bleeding. It also took her an hour and a half to do my nails. It was a horrible experience and I had to come home and put my finger in ice and clean it with alcohol. If you do go here PLEASE do not go to the really tiny young girl with glasses. I will never be going back here. read more

What I learned today was that short, fat, square, "peasant" toenails are popular with the college girls. I didn't recognize my feet with the nails cut so short and the polish brimming into the crevices on either side. Then there were the extra charges: callus removal ($9) and it was the most cursory callus treatment I've ever had - a quick scrub with a Scotch-brite sponge. For the manicure I opted to have my nails buffed instead of polished which added another $9 to the basic mani. Buyer beware - of the extra fees! read more

Mai did such an amazing job on my nails. I showed her a picture and she executed it perfectly. She was also very patient with me when I wasn't convinced about a color. I appreciated how fast but detail oriented she was. She offered me something to drink and a student discount. Everyone there was so welcoming and sweet, i will definitely be returning read more

The best part about my pedicure here was the plethora of color choices. They have so many cute options! The rest of my experience was pretty "meh". The nail tech didn't really speak to me except to ask what sort of pedicure I wanted (not sure if it was a language issue but it seemed like she was trying to upsell me to a more expensive treatment). She did a pretty good job on my nails (about what you'd expect from a decent strip mall nail salon). The worst part about the salon was the alt-right TV show they had playing loudly on a large screen. read more

This place is only four months young! I got a dip (powder) mani and used a coupon they had on their website to get $5 off! The people were very nice and Vinny did my nails excellently! For the girls who get it.... The dip application was super smooth, no bumps! Leaving this here because I think they delete Google Reviews: I paid $120 for a fill and gel pedicure which is the most I've had to pay for a service like this outside of a major city, but whatever, I thought I would just have to pay more for better quality. My manicure is fine (though the edges are uneven), but my pedicure looks terrible. Within one week, two of my nails have chipped. I messaged them to ask if they had a policy/if I could have them fixed, but they left my message on read. The salon itself is nice and pretty but does not make up for the quality. I've never had a gel pedicure chip so quickly. Disappointing and a waste of money. read more

I really, really don't like to write negative reviews (I have worked in customer service and know how customers can be), however, I feel that it is important to try to save others from the situation I experienced today. To begin, nothing was sanitized between customers. I watched the same tools and even the towel that was used on the customer before me be turned over to be used for my nails. Beyond this, we made an appointment for 1:30 pm and did not have our nails start to be done until 2:15 pm. The nail appointment concluded close to 3:15 pm. We left the salon and I noticed that the gel polish was beginning to peel off of my fingers, I went back to have it fixed and she redid every single nail because the person who previously did my nails made the same mistake on all of them. I wasn't even going to go back, however, these nails are for a special occasion and they promised me to fix them and give me a refund. They then refused to give me a refund in the salon. They lied about a manager not being present and refused to give me any sort of refund, as was promised on the phone. By the time they were done fixing my nails it was 5:00 pm. Nearly four hours after our appointment was set to begin. Finally, the icing on the cake" all the hidden fees! Their full sets do not include polish or nail shaping and a $50 full set will very quickly turn into an $80 set. My roommate got a fill and her set was also $80. The silver lining is that they did fix my nails, but I went here due to the amazing reviews and figured I'd share my experience because I don't want this to happen to other people. read more
