Had a wonderful facial here! I came across a Groupon for a facial. The location is easy to find, very clean, and organized. It was light, airy and peaceful. The facial service addressed all my concerns and questions. I loved it! There was no upselling of products which I appreciated. I was able to book online which was quick and efficient. I purchased a package deal where you buy a wax and a vajacial and you get a wax for free. She uses a wax that she makes herself. I got a Brazilian and underarms. The process itself was smooth, although there were a couple of spots that she went over more than once with a wax strip. My skin didn't take kindly to that. I've been to places where they'll switch types of waxes if it won't get the hair, but wax strips can definitely cause pigmentation in women of color. The conversation was great during the wax and she gave me tips about the locations of my acne and what it meant/how to fix it and a 2 day sample of a charcoal mask and a soap to use. She definitely makes you feel at ease, and is efficient if your skin can take this type of wax. The wax itself was good in that almost every hair was removed, but the dark underarms and vaginal area isn't the nicest. The peeling and flaking of my skin afterwards also was..... actually very upsetting. She told me that sometimes this could happen with waxing, but this degree of hyperpigmentation has only happened one other time to me (when I was burned) and I've been getting waxed for the last seven or eight years. This, feels like I was slightly burned again. To a skin peeling cros She offered either a refund or a free service along with the services I have purchased. Which basically means instead of the free wax I get a free lightening peel on both spots that were waxed. I personally think I should be not only refunded, because no one wants to pay and tip for pigmentation, but restricting it to one free service when it comes to pigmentation doesn't seem fair, especially when the service hasn't been performed and we don't know the results of yet. But I also should receive help until the damage done is fixed. She also offered a free gift of a lightning package until we could begin peeling. I thought it was super nice or her, but that was 2 weeks a and I have not heard anything else from her. I was so excited to find a woman of color to support, but the Hue Solution was a Hue problem for me :( I will update if peeling/lightening is done and show the results. I waited for a fair amount of time before leaving this review. I don't think the customer should have to consistently follow up for an issue to be resolved. She immediately answered me. It's true. But took two weeks as I said, to respond about the lightening package she offered. Didn't let me know it would be late or anything else. In her response she said it took 10 days to arrive but she took an extra four days after that to actually contact me. I said that I was simply notifying her of what was going on after I sent her pictures of all of my pigmentation, and I got an attitude in response. I understand that she is trying to save face for the sake of her business, but let's not lie, I can post screenshots. She gave a refund, some attitude, and emailed me her insurance information, that I never got. read more

Excellent Brazilian and thigh waxes by Bri. It was easy to make an appointment online even with the Groupon I had for my Brazilian wax. Bri followed up with me by text message moments after I made the appointment and I was able to add the thigh wax service seamlessly. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived at the location. It's like a house that has been transformed into business. I actually drove past it at first. I'd recommend having a bigger sign or maybe larger font. Had to ring the doorbell at the front door and someone let me in. When I walked in, most of the lights were off so I felt a little unsure. However, once I got in the room with Bri/on the table I felt more at ease. Bri kept great conversation with me and expertly removed my unwanted hair. It hurt much less than at other waxing studios I've been to and we were through in an appropriate amount of time. She even gave me a little sample of body scrub to use for prevention of ingrown hairs post-wax. Overall, I had a great experience with Bri and feel confident recommending her/this black-owned business to anyone looking for a wax. read more

I decided to book my Self Care Sunday appointment here before the new year after researching local Triangle African American estheticians on Yelp. This year I vowed to do things differently and commit myself to taking better full care of myself. Nicole came highly rated with reviews highlighting her 20 years in the skin care game. She started off with an assessment using steam and a hot towel. She discussed my skin type, pores and presence of acne. While wearing a mask daily during the pandemic my skin has been craving TLC I have not been able to do on my own. I had the acne facial. She used high frequency, extractions, a sonic scrubber and a machine that zaps away imperfections. I love that she uses Q-Tips for extractions. This is far less painful than the metal tools some estheticians use. She really helped with clearing the black heads I had been walking around with forever. While she applied a green tea mask, I received a relaxing shoulder/ neck massage with perfect pressure. All of her products smelled delicious. I learned that Vitamin C , oxygen and proper toner and sunscreen are key to a healthier skincare journey. I can't wait to return for a microdermabrasion facial. When I got up from the spa bed I felt my skin exhale from the months of congestion it's suffered. Nicole gave realistic tips on daily skin care routine. She did not try to up sell me at all. I purchased the exfoliating cleanser & lotion products from her to give my skincare routine a makeover. I Love that the ingredients are organic/ vegan. Why should I spend tons on products in cosmetic stores/ sites that are ineffective and take up shelf space at home ? Nicole was professional, punctual and I felt the experience was truly relaxing. I first went to see Nicole at the Hue Solution with a Groupon over a year ago. Nicole is professional, she explains everything she has in mind for your skin type, even if you have had facials before. She's gentle but EFFECTIVE. When I first moved to NC from FL I went to a few estheticians, none had cleared up the stress acne on my chin like Nicole did! Now a year later, she has made my skin GLOW with the acne facials and microdermabrasion being done every other month. I have also trusted her with my eyebrows, and I don't trust ANYONE near my brows, she shapes them perfectly. Disclosure: I did dedicate myself to her every other week to clear up what I had, it was all gone in about 8 weeks. Everyone is different, so keep that in mind too, but as with most things, consistency is key! read more

I've gotten multiple facial services and over the last few months, I've seen a great deal of improvement in the overall texture, tone, look, and feel of my skin. I had a really great experience. Coming here made me realize that I need to invest more in my own self care and self maintenance. I arrived to their beautiful North Durham location; a bright and airy building with ample parking in the back. Today I chose the facial treatment/service, which was wonderful. I was greeted warmly and check-in was quick because I completed the consultation form prior to arriving. The environment is calm, relaxing, with aromatherapy scents throughout the building. My esthetician was friendly, and kind. I'm 7 months pregnant so she lifted the table and added a pillow under my knees to make things more comfortable, which was greatly appreciated. She did a wonderful job with my facial, and suggested products and services that would help with my dark spots. I left with vitamin C serum to try at home. I have facial psoriasis and very sensitive skin, so I tend to avoid skin-related spa treatments, but a friend had just gotten a facial and her skin was GLOWING so I was inspired to book an appointment. Plus, I was noticing a lot of blackheads and kept making myself bleed/scar when I tried to remove them myself. Nicole uses all natural products which were gentle on my very sensitive skin. The royal facial was a great starter facial for someone like me (I've only gotten a facial once before and it was about 8 years ago for a friend's bridal shower!). She was very communicative about my skin issues, and she also assured me that my skin was great in many ways, which felt really nice! She didn't shame me into getting treatments more regularly or using more products (I barely use any products on my skin). After every product she introduced to my skin, she checked in to make sure that it wasn't burning or hurting in any way. The one product that DID make my skin burn (the sunscreen), she wiped off RIGHT away and then reapplied the gentle moisturizer. My skin felt a little raw coming out of the facial (partially probably bc of the slight rxn to the sunscreen) so I was a little worried, because my psoriasis can flare up quite easily, but by the next day, my skin was TOTALLY smoothed out, my psoriasis was no longer red and all my pores looked tight and clear. My girlfriend kept joking that I looked like I got a facelift, lol. read more

This was the best waxing experience ever. I came in telling Nicole that my prior waxing experience at European wax center made me self conscious about hyperpigmentation that I have. She did the exact opposite and made me feel so comfortable in my skin. The wax she uses she makes herself and it was less painful than getting my eyebrows threaded. Nicole is an excellent facialist. I found her through Groupon. In the first session she educated me so much on my skin, what my skin is telling me a far as what my breakouts, dehydration,etc. tells me about what I should and should not be eating, what ingredients to put on my skin and what vitamins I should be taking. And it worked. Since then I have met with Nicole 3-4 more times getting an acne facial, microdermabrasion and chemical peel. Face face is so much clearer and healthier.
