Coming up from Texas, I was in serious need to have my SNS set removed and had been combing the area for credible nail salons. Found one! I never did get the name of the gentleman who did my manicure [and pedicure, since I had time and there was no long wait], but he did a great job and was quite friendly -much warmer and attentive than the ladies! The atmosphere is pretty inviting aesthetically speaking, but I must say that it wouldn't hurt for the greeters and other nail technicians to try to smile or at least "pretend" to be happy to see customers come into the salon. ...just saying...I am much more willing to pay for upgrades if it felt like I was gift rather than a burden. Overall, this location is worth at least one visit. I may return to see if any improvements have been made in their customer service. read more

This review is for dip only. I come here every three weeks for gel, and I've had the most amazing experiences. I switched to dip to avoid the UV. Within 24 hours, my nails showed small cracks, which didn't bother me. The tips of my nails began to chip after two days. I have this strange finger print looking thing on my nail that looks like old school nail polish that was smudged. I don't know if it's a one time thing and next time will be better, or if it's dependent on the manicurist, but I'm bummed. The manicure itself looks fine, but my nails look awful. Update: day 5 of dip. The cracks are very deep, and a few nails have even chipped. Very disappointed. read more

It was time for a fill in so I decided to stop by here after calling to verify that they did liquid gel nails. When I walked in there was only one other patron getting serviced so there were plenty of techs available. David serviced my nails & he did a really good job. I also got my toes polished which was great also. The liquid gel fill in was $30 + gel polish was $10. Not bad compared to many other salons that charge $35&^ for the fill in only. Overall I will more than likely return here. I felt very comfortable. If you pay using a card vs cash, there's a 50 cents service fee. read more

This is a fabulous new spa over at University Commons, and it's likely to be my new home nail place! I was helped by Ann, who is the owner of the salon. She was very friendly and helpful. I also appreciate a nail tech who is able to have a good conversation, but also knows when you just want to relax and enjoy being pampered. The salon is very well appointed and for a strip mall nail place is very stylishly decorated. It's immaculately clean, and they focus on herbal remedies as a part of their spa atmosphere. I opted for a treatment including Rose, which has a really nice scent and isn't overpowering. I sprung for the most expensive package, and I am not disappointed! The pedicure room itself is in the back of the place, with muted lighting and soft music... It's hard to believe that there's Harris Teeter traffic just a few feet away! It was my first time here. I got the most expensive pedicure, that included hot stones. I enjoyed the multi-step massage and leg and foot treatments. Soaking, a scrub, hot towels, a massage with oil, more towels, more massage. I lost track of the massages because they were all kind of the same--not that that was a bad thing. I think my technician just wasn't very creative with her massaging techniques :) The actual trimming, filing, and painting of nails was efficient and thorough. The polish looked great. They asked if I wanted to sit at the dryers or stay in the massage chair. I opted for more massage chair! I gave a 20% tip. If the massage is more creative next time, I'll go a little higher. She also explained each step to me to ensure that I knew my natural nails would not be damaged in any way. This was my second encounter here and they are both negative. My first time going I was turned away stating they were full already and didn't know how long before I could get a full set! So I left. Went on a second time got a fill in (was in the area had heard great things inspire of my 1st trip) he wanted to charge me $5 just for clear gel polish (mind you my normal spot does that free with clear) Anywho... 3 days later after my fill in had 2 nails to start lifting had them repaired while he was removing the product from my nails he broke both nail off and they are now shorter than the rest and wanted to place a tip on top due to he had to cut the rest of my natural nail down. in 5 days after getting fill in ore lifted and resulted in my real nail to break off and the other is just hanging on. Have to pay someone else to make the repairs. No happy with service and will not recommend them or ever go back! I would not take my car to have her nails trimmed here!!!! read more

I've always had a pretty good experience at this salon. It's super clean and well decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful. I typically get a gel pedi and mani. I came here b/c I had great experiences before but it's been a while since I've been back but the lady I was coming to is no longer here. I walked in and asked for pedicure and acrylic full set they pushed gel but b/c I typically get gel and was only getting acrylic b/c I was just getting my nails done for a wedding and didn't plan on keeping them but by the 3rd or 4th time she said it, I just went ahead with gel but felt a little uneasy about how she was pushing the gel set. Then they start in on pricing, which changed at least 3 times. The nails are fine, not really the shape or length I asked for but they're not bad. Now comes time for the pedicure! It was the WORST!!! I don't know if the guy was new or just helping out for the day but he had no idea of what he was doing. There's no way I got what I paid for! The water was cold but he put the pedi stuff in the water immediately and it was full to the brim so I just made due. Then immediately the guy put the end lotion on my legs and wrapped them in the hot towels and told me to put my legs in the water. I was like what!...but ok, maybe I'm mistaken until he spent I know 7-10 minutes at the end trying to rub in the actual cream that was supposed to go with the hot towels. HA! Unfortunately, he barely exfoliated my feet so now I have to go home and finish my pedicure. I like to get overlay on my toenails to ensure they're even but they were quoting me $95 so I was like NO WAY (to all)! When the lady that did my overlay started on my overlay I'm pretty sure she asked him if he even did my cuticles/shaped my nails based on the way she stopped to look and then turned to him and asked him something. I mean I don't mind a new person b/c everyone needs to do in order to learn but they could have trained him or he could've asked for instruction or something! I mean, I'm not like a die hard pedi person but this was the WORST! $75 for a pedi and I have to do it again later! but after 3 hours there I was over it! And it's not the money b/c I have no problem paying for a service and I work hard so I don't mind treating myself and self care is important but at almost $200 I would've expected a better experience. I've come here twice and been extremely pleased both times. I got a pedicure the first time...just the cheapest one (no gel) and it seriously did not chip for 6 weeks! The next time I got a $12 manicure and it lasted considerably LESS time, but it was a FABULOUS $12 manicure. I love Mai...she is friendly, NOT PUSHY, and all the employees speak to you (and not to each other like they do at other salons where I'm never sure if they're talking ABOUT me.) Also, the French is so uneven and sloppy it looks like a child did it - I can do it better my self. On top of that, there is a huge chunk of cotton fluff painted into my gel polish. I came here to get my acrylics nails removed and toe polish removed. As soon as I sat down they kept badgering me to make a sale. I politely declined and shake all I wanted was a removal. They didn't even soak off my nails. They did the cheap and painful way of using another acrylic piece to wedge the ones I have on my nails off. They charged me $40. No new paint. No new acrylic. Not clear polish on my hands. They charged me $40. Now I just moved from Atlanta about a week ago , I understand what it means to pay for good service. But this was nowhere near $40 service. I honestly think it's because of the quarantine that they are up charging everything. I will never be returning. Shabby service at the very least they could have given me water/wine. read more

I made an appointment at Natural Nail Spa and was a bit unimpressed. I do appreciate the pedicure bowl linings because sanitation is important to me. But I was really unimpressed with the nail tech. I wasn't asked what kind of pedicure I wanted, she buffed off my clear polish rather than just using nail polish remover, the paint job was a bit sloppy, she didn't clean it up afterwards, and one toe is already chipped (today is Tuesday, I got my toes done Sunday). One of the asked me to wait while she went to the back of the salon where another tech was lounging in a pedicure chair. The techs argued about who was going to do my manicure. Great nail spa! They have a separate place in the back for pedicures and it feels like you are in a spa. One thing that I hate about nail spas is that sometimes it can feel like you are being rushed, or you are offered discounts over a menu of services. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "for 5 dollars more you can get X." This shop did not do any of that. They simply provided great service. This place has horrible service i came to get a an eyebrow wax which doesnt take long and there was harldy anyone there. Only for them to tell me they are to busy and to come back in 45 minutes. This is the best nail salon I've been to in Durham and I've been here for 6 years!!! I'll start with the pedicure experience: The pedicure area is so tranquil! The lights are low, there is a vaulted ceiling and the massage chairs are sleek and had many settings so that you'd get exactly what your body needed while you were there. I recommend the auto setting for sure! They've programmed it perfectly! Ryan (aka the Foot Doctor) really showed my feet some love. He was super knowledgeable about how to take care of my feet and he genuinely cared about his technique so much that I felt completely relaxed and was intrigued by his process. He spent at least 20 minutes over the time that he was supposed to considering the pedicure service I chose. He was ensuring that my pedicure was exactly what was needed. His personality was awesome and within 10 minuets we were laughing and joking like old friends! My gel manicure: Elly is an angel when it comes to ensuring that you hands look 10xs better than they did nefore you dipped them in her lukewarm bowl of soapy goodness! She talked to me about nail care and even mentioned that she was a "perfectionist" when it comes to her job. She shaped my nails and applied the gel polish so flawlessly that I was sure I had on acrylic nails! She was such a pleasant person to chat with and really took pride in her job!
