This is, by far, the best nail salon I have ever visited. It's not fancy, but they do a meticulous job that lasts. Thus far I have had three gel manicures and two gel pedicures, and after 3-4 weeks each time not a single nail was chipped or lifting -- and I am VERY rough on my hands. Walking in and seeing the salon, it is not a super glam nail salon like others in Chapel Hill. I had booked a 6:30 appointment, he was behind and we started around 7. I had let him know my recently bad ventures with other salons and how poorly shaped and managed the acrylic was. He took his time to fill-in my nails and do them correctly. I was very impressed by his level of detail and attention. His youngest son was so fun, he shared with me his drawings and Godzilla. My appointment finished around 8:40pm. It was a long appointment but again, he fixed the damage from 2 other salons with detail. I love my nails, shape is a bit different than requested but these are the best they've looked in awhile! While I was there, I booked a fill-in for 3 weeks and this appointment will be with his wife. read more

I've been here a few times and have had 3 different nail techs and have been satisfied each time. Seriously, the most meticulous pedicure I've ever had in my life. I was introduced to the dipping power technique in GA and was looking for a salon here to deliver the same quality that didn't require a drive to Raleigh/Durham. Nail Tek did just that! Customer Service - A1! Every time I ask for something non traditional their response is always "I can try". Never a "no" which I can appreciate. Also, during my initial visit they only had 2 colors for dip powders but when I returned to get my nails redone they had ordered at least ten more! Location - If you are in any of the governor's communities it's a quick drive (or walk) away. Perfect. Ambiance - Leaves a lot to be desired. It is small and not really modern or much decor. You do not get that spa like atmosphere at all. Nails - I LOVE THEM. The dip powder is natural and healthier for your nails, and no uv lights needed and lasts for about a month. They always do a great job, even when I was doing the gel polish. Waxing - LOVE IT. I have only gotten my eyebrows done but it was seriously the most pleasant experience I have had of someone ripping hair out of my face. It seriously did not hurt, I was very confused lol. 2 things keeping them from a 5 star for me is the ambiance and the fact that some of the nail art is limited. I understand they have to appeal to the demographics around them but as a young woman (most customers I have seen are more "mature") I like some of the more guady, blingy and trendy styles that aren't offered here. The additional dip colors are a start though so I plan to make this my regular salon! read more

Had my polish changed and it was exactly what i was looking for as far as being quick, cheap (18$), having a multitude of options. Downside: As a i walked in a man was texting and told me welcome without even glancing up from his phone. I expected some sort of quick excuse like "sorry my girlfriend" like anything really but to act like i needed to wait for him to finish his text was a little annoying. Secondly they rounded my nails with out asking (which i ended up liking so that's alright) and my nails are already scratching 4 days later. read more

Came in for eyebrow wax at 12:40pm. Was told that I could not be accommodated as the techs were busy and one of the two available techs had an appointment at 1pm. Had really high hopes for this nail salon. Called Monday evening to make an SNS fill appt for Wednesday afternoon. Confirmed a 4 o'clock appointment on Wednesday with a man who works there. I even repeated the appointment time back to him and said "see you Wednesday at 4." When I arrived early to allow time for my set to soak off, I was informed that my appointment wasn't on the books. Upon further inspection they found my appt but it was put down for a week later. Because of this mistake they couldn't do my nails -- all they would have time for was "soaking off" my current color. Absolutely ridiculous. If you're someone who works and only has an afternoon a week for things like this - DONT RELY ON THEM. I will never be returning. Advice for the owners: get a better scheduling system than scribbling down appts in a booklet. Or maybe check to make sure you're on the right date before making an appointment. Nail Tek is a convenient place to go to get your nails done. Having driven by it many times, I decided to go for a pedi yesterday. Apparently they're great at pedicures, maybe women's nails as well, but for men's manicures, I'd go somewhere else. Cut my nails to the quick without asking, one bleeding cuticle, others ragged, etc. BTW Just on principle, I'd avoid any business where the employees banter in a foreign language. My gel manicures before would start to get chipped in the first week but not with Nail Tek and their removal process did not harm my nails at all. After searching high and low for a great, clean place to get a pedi, I have arrived!! I recently moved to Camden at Governor's Village and thought I'd try this place out one day after not wanting to drive around town looking for another place. I was blown away. Those of you who have been on the search for a great nail place know how painful and frustrating the search is! I lucked out and got Tina the first time I tried this place and have been going back to her ever since. She takes her time and is awesome. She really scrubs my heels and other rough places, sometimes even going back over them to make sure everything is smooth. She carefully cuts down my nails, files, buffs, etc. If she gets to one that needs extra attention, she goes back over it instead of just continuing to move along. I know I am there at least an hour as my feet soak, get wrapped in hot towels, and taken care of. Other places would always rush me along and I would leave looking like I simply had a polish change. I highly recommend Tina, but schedule your appointment in advance because she books up quickly and it is difficult to get in on short notice. I will continue going to this place even if I relocate out of the neighborhood. read more
