Last night, I bought a mango bingsu, lava cake, matcha latte, three taiyaki, and a black tea milk tea. Most of the items were okay. The red bean taiyaki was hot and tasty, but the custard one wasn't warm at all. The cream filling was just room temperature, which was a bit disappointing. The milk tea, though, was the biggest problem. It was very bland and had no flavor. There was no sweetness, and it tasted like watered down tea. The only sweet part was the boba. We let the staff know that the milk tea didn't taste right and asked if we could change it. They said yes, but didn't say sorry or anything, which felt a uncomfortable. They gave us a yuzu iced tea instead, but unfortunately, it was the worst yuzu tea I've ever had. It smelled like cosmetics and still had no sweetness, so it was really hard to drink. i was looking for a place that had iced americanos and milk tea and stumbled upon mochi. i've always passed by this place and was intrigued by their beard papa's. when i walked in, i was amazed at the amount of space and seating there was! there was also a big selection of blind boxes such as smiskis, sonny angels, and sanrio. the cashier was very nice as i asked her for milk tea recommendations. i opted for the thai milk tea with boba. my drinks came out very quick! sadly, the thai tea was not up to my standards. usually the thai tea's that i'm used to are quite sweet and milky. this one was not milky and not sweet enough. it was watery and had a hint of sourness. the iced americano was not for me, so i'm not sure how it tasted. overall, mochi has a lot to offer such as mochi, beard papa's shaved ice, and other desserts. it's a cute place that is most likely good for those who like to study in cafes! read more

I don't know if the changes management since then, but I felt the dynamic has changed since 2011. Service was mediocre, not great and not horrible. To my surprise I didn't know card transaction was minimum $5 so instead of the cream filling that I wanted I got the ice cream filling because it's an additional $1.25 which Oz my one puff pastry over $6. Disappointedly, the patty itself was extremely dry and the ice cream was nothing special. If anything, it was super crystallized which made it flavorless and makes me question if the ice cream is old since that's how crystallization works through time. I'm disappointed that I couldn't get the cream, which they are known for and should probably get rid of the ice cream addition unless they could commit to fresh pastry, which I'll doubt. Was driving around Irvine looking for a dessert place and found this adorable place in a shopping center. Super clean, adorable, and smelled soo good. They had mochi ice creams in many many flavors. Bought the green tea and strawberry. It was very tasty. The tayaki looked a bit unusual but tasted great. Had a great selection of blind boxes, I may have bought 6. Last time I was here I asked one of the employees about the pay and they said they get paid 1$ per hour on tips, which is really surprising for how many customers that come in and the amount of work they have to do. I tried calling about 15 minutes before closing to see if I could place an order through the phone so that I wouldn't be walking in 5 minutes before close and she said that they couldn't take a phone order for what I was wanting and then told me that if I came in 5 min before closing that they would have the machines turned off already. I've been to this place twice and love their shaved ice/milk. My friend ordered for me but I think it was their standard shaved milk, size small. This was a matcha shaved ice with a delicious custard type ice cream underneath. It had mango, kiwi, banana and strawberry fruits on top. It was also topped with red bean and Mochi pieces. It was delicious and despite looking massive, easily fed two people. My only complaints were this: price wise it's a bit steep for what it is, the strawberries were very bland (but it's also not strawberry season so I'm not surprised), and I wish there was more of the ice cream and Mochi pieces on top because they were so so yummy! The last one is more of a personal preference than a complaint, I just love mini mochi! Overall, I'll be back. It's a fun treat to share with friends and family (and they have little serving cups on the side if you're worried about germs right now)! My husband I stumbled across this place one night randomly and we were so happy that we did! They have these giant cream puffs of all different flavors and so many types of mochi. We got the Oreo and s'mores cream puffs and they were so creamy and good. We also got two mochi, one was chocolate coconut, and the other was chocolate chip. We all know the story. Mochi recently started selling Sonny Angels and novelty items that caused a dramatic spike in their business. As a result, our once calm and quiet local dessert spot has become a lively hub of people whenever a shipment comes in. Honestly I'm happy to see it. Except, sometimes it gets VERY lively and you can't hear your order being called out. Last night my friend came in here with her mom expecting quite a wait. She was patient and regularly checked the counter after placing her order. 30 minutes went by and she finally saw her order on the counter. When she went to go grab it off the counter, the owner loudly berated her in front of all the guests and staff stating that he had called her number several times. I get that the service industry can be frustrating but you just don't yell at people who are supporting your business in front of everyone like they're bratty kids. I've read other reviews stating that the owner is consistently rude and just refused to believe it because I loved this business so much. I hope you know that you yelled at someone who loyally supported your business over the past 12 years even referring friends and family thinking that we're going to get good service and friendly staff. I've referred countless people here to support a cute local business. Mochi is also a great place to study. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 5pm and the whole place was empty (it got busier later on though). There is plenty of seating and good wifi. The only downside is that they seem to only have 3-4 outlets on the side of the wall with high chairs and tables. Fantastic beverages including a rose oat milk latte and the BEST Croissant Taiyaki I've ever had - The vanilla cream custard and the nutella were INCREDIBLE!
