Stopped by for some sweet treats after dinner in the same area. Been here couple times before and with their puff cream pastry, which we enjoyed since we first encountered in Asia and slowly here for the last decade or so. Also we got ice cream mochi and taiyaki, which all are quite tasty and yummy. Perfect for small sweet treat after big dinner meal. Staff are nice and friendly, they do have seating outside to enjoy the sweets, also they do have drinks too plus iced shaved with fresh fruits...looks quite delish but it's big portion so next time for sure.

Pretty good dessert spot serving a huge variety of mochi and ice cream, as well as cream puffs from beard papas. The mochi are packed with flavor and a nice treat after a meal, but slightly less chewy and malleable than expected. It was more liquid and easily leaked out. The staff are very friendly and there is lots of indoor and outdoor seating under a tent.

Delicious shaved iced treats. Got the mango snow to share with three other people. The service was amazing staff was friendly. Recommended the medium size to share. Also bought some little trinkets. A lot of seating. Great spot to catch up and get some sweets.

The dessert here is not bad! It's just quite average - they don't really specialize/focus in one dessert it's more of a variety dessert shop so good if u want multiple things (they have mochi, shaved snow, ice cream, cakes). We ordered the red bean shaved snow. Snow texture a bit dry with a very faint red bean flavor, although serving size is huge!! Medium definitely can be shared between three people. Ube lava cake is quite small - it was yummy and moist! Multiple tables available for seating. Overall a casual vibe. Service was good and close to a lot of restaurants so easy place to stop by after for desert! Parking also very convenient.

the perfect dessert spot to share with friends. we got the Mango Snow medium bowl for 4 and it was definitely enough... somehow still gone in 5 minutes because it was THAT good ) look at that mango chunks and mochi balls they also have gelato, boba, taiyaki, mochi ice cream, cream puffs, and matcha drinks so there's literally something for everyone

Got to try this place, delicious! We ordered Mango milk snow and matcha. Employees are also very friendly and attentive. Will be back to try other flavors.

This is such a cute little cafe right in the heart of Irvine. They've got SO many flavors of mochi, gelato that's made in-house, and even Beard Papa's cream puffs! I saw that there was a Dubai chocolate cream puff but didn't get it this time but will have to come back for it. Their matcha drinks are surprisingly really good, we got the double matcha and yuzu matcha tonic, and a strawberry matcha milk snow to share. But OMG this is like blind box heaven. They have so many kinds of Sonny Angels and Smiskis, it was so hard to choose one for my first one! Thanks for reading! ^-^

The matcha shaved snow was very tasty. I also got a build-your-own cream puff: original shell with matcha filling, delectable. They don't skimp on the filling, every bite was a delicious oozy mess. Love this place for a coffee + dessert pit stop.

Delicious dessert cafe at Heritage Plaza. Lots of cream, lots of matcha, and lots of Ube. It's right next to Daiso with indoor and outdoor seating. We needed some mochi ice cream, and they have many really good flavors. I'm sure you've seen the boxed ones at the grocery store with the limited 4 flavors, but once you've had freshly made mochi ice cream in a dozen different flavors, you won't go back to the store bought brands. My favorites are the Mango, Strawberry, and anything with coconut. My man's favorite are the Passion Fruit and Black Sesame. Today I got the chocolate coconut cream one, and I didn't taste coconut, just chocolate, which was just fine with me. The Red Bean one though didn't taste at all like red bean. It actually tasted like strawberry. We even asked for another, and it was the same. It was really good and lightly sweet, but not the taste we were expecting. In any case they are all gooooood!

This place shares with Papa Beard. We were in the area and wanna give this place a try to fulfill my crave. The portion is quite 'big' for a small portion. We also ordered Taiyaki (which unfortunately no pic taken). All tasted decent to us, same as another shaved ice place. The stand out factor is the decor which considered quite cozy. Service was straight forward, order when we came and we got called by our receipt number.

Ask the Community - Mochi

Did they change their name? I remember they were called something else like mochilato ? They still serve food in here like they used to back in the day

They did change their name. I believe the business changed hands a few times, but the food is still the same here. They've added Beard Papa and Dippin Dots (pouch form) as well as other dessert options like cheesecake.

Are there dairy free ice cream options?

Just called and was told all their shaved ice contains dairy.

Glad to see Hui Lau Shan getting some extra love online recently!…read more I've been coming to Hui Lau Shan since it first opened around 2019 and it is one of my favorite dessert spots of all time. The chain is very consistent in it's items and I've never had a bad dessert in all the years I've come here! I don't konw how but their mango even during the offseason is some of the best you'll eat. You can literally get a fresh mango from the supermarket and there's a 50/50 chance that Hui Lau Shan's will still be better The staff are very straightforward and do their best to make your order very quickly actually way faster than it was when it first started. Never had a bad moment with them. Theres around four tables inside the shop, but they're almost always full. Thankfully there's plenty of seating outside with umbrellas that you can use rain or shine. Great to come with big or small groups family or friends! Casual, tasty, clean, and modern

*** Credit cards only - no cash establishment ***…read more Hui Lau Shan is a chain dessert shop from Hong Kong (established in the 1960s) and the shop is known for mango-themed desserts. The chain closed several locations in Arcadia and Sawtelle and this Irvine flagship location is the only one left in Southern California. However there are other locations in Northern California, Texas, and Washington. [Parking]: Easy and free parking within the shopping plaza. [Atmosphere]: The shop was super crowded on Sunday afternoon. There were 4-5 indoor tables and they were all taken, but there were plenty of outdoor tables available that meant to be shared by all shopping plaza visitors. [Menu]: The laminated menu highlighted the following items - A4 Mango Chewy Ball, A8 Mango Coconut Noodle, J3 Pomelo & Mango with Sago, and E1 Durian Black Glutinous Rice. There's also a display case of dessert replicas for visitors to see. In addition, A2 Mango Romance is a trio sampler order with Mango Mochi, Crystal Jelly, Ice Cream, and Mango Chewy Ball. *** A7 Mango Sago ($7.95): I liked it - the dessert had a slushy texture and was not overly sweet. Even the spoon had a cute mango design at the tip. *** This is a must-visit shop for mango lovers. Definitely expect a minor wait due to the crowd, but the order was ready in 10 minutes.

They also sell mochi donuts -- this looks like a rebrand Bober Tea shop that's known for their "stir fried" boba. The brown sugar boba in our drinks tasted like the super soft and flavorful boba. My husband and I really loved the boba. But at 100% sweet, the drink was wayyy too sweet that we had to dilute it with water. Next time I would get half sweet. It had a very nice black tea flavor that shone through which is unique from other boba shops.

We tried the Mango Grapefruit Box Cake, which was light, fluffy, and wasn't overly sweet. Was skeptical of the grapefruit being too tart, but the tartness actually balanced the mango perfectly. We also had the Tiramisu Crepe Cake. It was soft, layered to perfection with a gentle coffee flavor. Not too heavy, just creamy and smooth with a little espresso kick. The star of the the show, in my opinion, was the Fresh Watermelon Fruit Tea and it was ABSOLUTELY refreshing. It's lightly sweetened and comes with fresh watermelon cubes, which makes it feel like you're drinking summer in a cup. Bonus: it's not syrupy or heavy like some other fruit teas out there. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Took the time to explain what was popular and made solid recommendations. Interior had plush seating, bright lighting, and curated decor that feels like a boutique hotel lobby. Overall, everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. ALLERGY WARNING!!!THEY DONT ACTUALLY SUBSTITUTE MILK!!!…read more Love this place, wanted to take my mom and sister. My sister has allergies to dairy, eggs, nuts, etc. We asked for a strawberry matcha with oatmilk for my sister (We literally even double checked and told them it was because of allergy warning, and we even asked if there was contamination just in case. They responded that it will just be oatmilk). Me and my mom had the chocolate bowl. We get the drink and bowl. Oat milk was on the receipt. The person who made the drink did whole milk and not oatmilk. Guess whhhaatttt, yea my sister is throwing up like crazy in the bathroom and we genuinely had to go to the ER BECAUSE THEY DIDNT PUT OATMILK. Mind you it was an extra charge up for the milk substitute. They apologized and gave a refund, but seriously... DO NOT COME HERE if you have allergies, they lied straight to our face and didn't bother to own up to it (lying and saying it wasn't on the receipt when I saw with my own two eyes that it was). My sister is in recovery. But could have been completely avoided if they had simply given us the correct order. Mind you now there's hospital costs to be dealt with because we had to rush her to the closest hospital. I'm genuinely so mad about this everyone going here please be careful if you have allergies.
