An assortment of banchan with the mini Bulgogi.

I was craving some Korean food on my little venture through Walnut Creek on a Tuesday and saw this place on the handy Google Maps. It's located just next to Brodrick. As I opened the strong door, the decor initially caught my eye walking in. It's modern with a hint of a biophillic design. I came in around 5PM so the sunlight didn't capture much of the beauty of the decor, but i'm sure coming in lunch time captures it more. Nara, the kind waitress, told me to sit anywhere I like. She's attentive, answered any questions I had, and informed be on certain dishes the whole time I stayed. I decided to get the Shrimp Mandoo as my appetizer and the mini Bulgogi with a Banana Milk. The Shrimp Mandoo was good, but nothing to really rave about. It's the only Mandoo that can only be pan-fried, but the crunch was fun! The banchan was varied. The kimchi is more on the sour/bitter side, so sorry to the sweet kimchi fans. As a solo diner I was particularly worried about the food proportions for the mini Bulgogi. I have a hearty appetite but even I have limits. The proportions were actually perfect and if you're a fan of lettuce, the Bulgogi comes with so much. I throughly enjoyed the savory Bulgogi! It was tender and clean to eat. Overall, I would definitely come by again!

Was craving for Korean food and this was the closest spot! It's a decent Korean restaurant with lots of your traditional choices including tofu soup, fried chicken, seafood pancake and more. Everything came pretty quickly and was good. I think the fried chicken was only fried once vs some other places they double fry it so it's super flavorful and crispy. Overall, a good spot if you're looking for convenient Korean food

Had a great meal at Mixed Grain with a friend! I ordered the bibimbop with thinly sliced beef, and the flavors were really good. The fried egg was cooked well, and I liked the option to have purple rice aside from just the white rice. All the banchan were pretty standard, but my favorite was actually the kimchi cilantro. I'd never had it before, but I loved the freshness and spice, and I even took some home with my leftovers because it paired so well with the bibimbop. The workers were friendly, and the inside was very clean and had a nice modern ambiance

This is by far the best Korean food I've had since visiting Korea-Mixed Grain has brought Korea to Walnut Creek! After ordering we had banchan (small side dishes) brought to our table- creating a beautiful palate to go along with the main courses. We ordered Kimchi Stew & Veggie Iron Works fried rice. These were both incredible dishes. Packed with flavor & so fresh. My only complaint is that I physically could not eat more! The service was impeccable, so polite & prompt! The restaurant itself is clean & modern, a new favorite spot & could not recommend more.

Every time I've wanted to try Mixed-Grain, it seems to be a Sunday when they are closed. Fortunately, I was able to visit the restaurant yesterday, and it was wonderful. Both the food and the service were exceptional. The only downside was the price. If the prices were slightly more reasonable, we might start going there every week. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for healthy and tasty food!

We came on a weekday during lunch, which wasn't packed at all. Although small with limited seating, the restaurant has natural lighting from the windows. We were seated right away and placed our order for The Works with spicy chicken wings. The Works bowl comes with fresh veggies neatly assorted and is gorgeous to look at. It also comes with the standard gochujang-based sauce which provides more heat and complex flavor. It was a nice balance of spice and cooling nature from the veggies. The spicy chicken wings were also delicious with the coated sauce and sesame seeds. It still had a great texture despite being covered in the sauce, and wasn't soggy at all. Would love to come back and try more items!

This was one of the few places that was still open in the area, so we checked it out. The decor was quaint, yet modern - it was a nice energy to walk into. We ordered the black bean noodles and beef short rib soup. The banchan variety was great and complemented our soup especially! Kalbitang soup was savory and came in a big-sized bowl. However, the meat was honestly much tougher than I would've liked. My review would've been 4 stars if it weren't for the black bean noodles. On the menu, it read as "짜장면" if I'm not mistaken, so I was shocked when jjapaghetti came out instead. If I had known beforehand that it was going to be jjapaghetti, an instant noodle, I would not have ordered for $16. Honestly, it was pretty misleading. In conclusion, be wary of ordering the jjajangmyeon here, as you will be getting jjapaghetti instead (know what you're ordering). Waitress was kind though!

This place is great! Had the Bimpap bowl with chicken and purple rice. It's so yummy loaded with veggies and topped with a soft cooked egg. Unlimited Bon Chon and great service

Banchan. Yes I'm going to print this hella big and put it in my office. Which of your coworkers is Kimchi? Pickled Onion?

I loved the fried chicken (this is the one that they usually give as a sample). The kimchi is a nice touch. They give good portions and I was able to eat the leftovers as a whole meal. This isn't a sit down restaurant- just a stall in the mall food court. Plenty of nearby seating. Also, the food is already prepared and you just pick from the hot food table. There are a lot of places to sit once you pick up your food. It's pretty loud since it's in the malls This place is cafeteria style, the food is all out for you to choose from. The person working was super friendly! I gave this place a 3 because the deep fried chicken and shrimp were overly cooked and extremely dry. The fried chicken was very thin. Didn't even think it had chicken inside. We ordered beef bulgogi which was very tender and filled with flavor. The fried red chicken had a lot of flavor but it felt like the ratio from meat to batter wasn't great. The rice cakes in chili was interesting... it tasted a bit like spaghettiOs... the texture of the dish was like a squishy tasting gnocchi. The japchae was filled with flavor. At first the texture threw me of but afterwards you are hit with great taste. The tofu was so good. For a place that's in the mall, it's ok. I was expecting more but it's a great if you want to share with others and try different restaurants in the food court.

Let's talk about the meat first because that is allegedly why we are here. The quality was so underwhelming that I genuinely started questioning my life choices somewhere around the third plate. AYCE should stand for "All You Care to Eat" -- emphasis on care. Because after one bite, I stopped caring pretty quickly. The grill was running on pure chaos energy. Inconsistent heat, smoke billowing in every direction, the entire restaurant wrapped in a fog so thick I briefly thought I was at a Travis Scott concert. Except at a Travis Scott concert you at least get decent production value. Here it was just everyone's dinner slowly cremating itself while we sat there, eyes watering, pretending everything was fine. And the noise. Oh, the noise. The table next to us had a child treating the grill grate like a snare drum in a middle school band recital. No rhythm. No remorse. Just vibes. The one person who had any business being in that building was our server Michael. Michael was an absolute professional -- attentive, kind, somehow smiling through all of it. Michael deserves a Michelin star just for surviving that shift. Michael is the only reason this isn't zero stars. We don't deserve Michael. Gen Korean BBQ -- not for me. Michael -- always for me.
