Since my last review of Mini Garden Express back on 11 February 2020 there has been greater improvements. I noticed that the service by the employees has greatly improved and way better now at their new location. The food is very delicious and the portion sizes are huge. The prices of their dishes are very reasonable as well. The one big thing I really like about this restaurant is that they allow you to modify your dish to how you would like it...with an additional and not too pricey add on. I usually order the Mapo Tofu with Crispy Noodles, which isn't on their menu. They are very accommodating when I order from them. The ambiance of their new location is brighter, a lot of table seatings, and a lot of space compared to their old location. I highly recommend this place. I'll be back to order and dine here again. read more

When you're feeling nostalgic & missing those 99 Ranch offerings, go to Mini Garden Express off of Nimitz Highway! This is still my go-to when craving chinese comfort food with relatively affortable prices. As you enter look up and you'll be able to order off the menu. I usually phone order in ahead of time to pick up. To your right there is seating available if you feel like eating in. The restroom is also situated in the back area. Got the roast duck & chicken on a bed of fried rice. It amazes me that this and their other offerings can transport you to high school days (in other words, still same great taste!). Venue is located near airport in midst of industrial offices ... hope in the wall restaurant but visually this palace show casted huge posters of their food menu .. we tried their crispy fried gao gai noodles - super yummy ! My favorite food here is the minute chicken cake noodle. I always get the party platter and they can separate the sauce. The service here varies. Sometimes they are on it and sometimes not. One time they didn't have my order ready when I pre-ordered. I waited almost an hour for them to get it prepared. There was another time they said they didn't receive my order and asked me if I really did order from them. The last time I ordered, there were more vegetables than sauce in the containers so there wasn't enough sauce to go in the noodles. read more

I admit I haven't been to Moanalua 99 in years though I do see all tenants have their loyal regulars to support and I've loved it here back in the day. I'm sadden to see places like Mini Garden Express forced to leave as this location set up is absolutely convenient with the food court vibe. Coming here late after work not knowing which places are still open I was delighted to see this one is hanging on for us late arrivals as I see many who do phone orders and wanting to get their last bites in before their closure as they won't be open until October in their new location at Airport Commercial Center on Nimitz. With that I did get their Cold Ginger Chicken just the one single order not as a plate lunch and it was $11.50 and filled a burger box which is a lovely generous portion. Though I was able to see through the window my chicken being cut without any gloves and I do have issues with that and tried not to let it get to me. It did take awhile for my order to be done after seeing that knowing nothing needed to be heated as everyone's order was done I was wondering why mine took forever. When I did get my order I was disappointed with the sauce as it was poured all over the chicken instead of on the side since it was take out and it looked like it had to be made as the green onions was coarsely chopped and there was barely any ginger besides the insane amount of oil sitting on the bottom of the box...they had to scratch make my sauce and it tasted horrible!!! I understand the circumstances so that's the three stars in normal honestly for $12 this would be a one and not make me excited to visit their new location. read more

I'm so glad they are back! Been going to Mini Garden Express when they were in the former 99 Ranch food court in Mapunapuna (now a Home Depot). Super happy to find them again near the airport. Same great prices for their delicious Chinese food. The Beef brisket with wonton and noodles really hit the spot! The dry chow fun was also very tasty. You can taste even taste the "wok hei" (breath of the wok - a term used for the proper way to stir fry with a wok and a gas burner. Definitely a must visit if you are in the area. read more

I was treated badly by the chinese cashier. She does not greet and her face was grouchy that I already feeling negative in that restaurant mind you this is my 1st try in this place. Ordered take out...Char siu crispy noodles with 2 crispy gau gee, cold ginger chicken and spring rolls. Next time need to ask for noodles to be separate since it was crispy by the time we got home. But it was good. No picture of the gau gee...forgot since it was in a separate brown bag. The cold finger chicken was my husband's but he didn't care for it. Upon arrival there are 2 women behind the counter, one of them closest to the register just lying down on her chair staring at me while I wait to order (i'm the only one in line) she then goes on to say she's tired & still stares at me while i wait. they finally take my order and i wait for almost 20 minutes for 2 plates. My pork chop had 2 strands of hair inside & when I called them for refund the lady offered me store credit instead when I said I will not be returning. Smh. The lady who was lying down is also the same lady who uses her bare hands to prep noodles and soup in the front. It's clear they don't use gloves nor hair nets! read more

First time to the new location on Nimitz hwy near the airport. The same ladies are still working the front counter. I got the same order that I used to get at the old Ranch 99 location to see if it changes. I'm happy to say that it still tastes the same. There's plenty of seating if you want to eat there. Unfortunately there is no A/C so it gets hot there. I was a little disappointed since people that ordered after me got their food before me. I think that the way the orders were being handled, theirs got put on top of mine. Still, a few seconds later mine came out so all was good. While the new location is not as good for me, I'll definitely go there if I'm in the area. read more

We have been coming to Mini Garden. My dad was going to their Smith Street corner of king street small establishments expanded years ago I can't remember well. My dad since passed away. The 99 Ranch Moanalua closed one or two years ago. It was a sad good eye for all the eateries closing up. Lunch hours filled with military soldiers in inform I felt I was eating at their canteen hall! After lunch calm of the rush hour I'll go down quite often to buy our dinner. They have the best roast duck strewed noodles or plate anywhere I've eaten. They have moved last November to the Nimtzu center grest location for take out or eat in. read more

I haven't been here for a while... this is my favorite spot for stewed noodles. Their food is always consistent, and the owner is always very friendly. Pre-COVID we would eat here regularly, at least several times a month because the food was always tasty and was on our way home. On our most recent post-COVID visit, however, we were very disappointed and sad at how the food has changed. Choy sum must be cheap because there was a lot of it in the 2 noodle dishes we got, seafood crispy noodle and braised beef on chow fun. The seafood in the noodle dish, however, consisted of imitation crab, 2 fish balls each cut in half, and 1 shrimp. The braised beef didn't have much flavor. We also ordered sweet and sour eggplant without chili peppers, and the cashier suggested it come with black bean sauce instead because that would taste better so we agreed. I'm not sure if they just added black bean sauce to the sweet and sour sauce, because the final flavor was sour black bean. There's a good reason most dishes don't have both sauces because it's not very tasty, and just makes you suspect something is off. We probably won't return to this location in the foreseeable future. read more

*5 stars for their stewed noodles* New location by the airport! I like their new location, easier to access and they have inside seating also. As always they have the best stewed noodles. I've tried other items on their menu such as shrimp with vegetables and wasn't impressed. So I recommend sticking with the stewed noodles! They have the perfect texture, size, and flavor. I love how the broth is served on the side. I'm sure their soups are delicious if they use the same noodles. I ordered a small pan of noodles for work and it's always a hit. I don't think I've used the word noodles so much in a review lol. If you've never ate here before you can't go wrong! read more

New location off Nimitz. Plenty of parking. A few tables to eat inside. They are still fixing the right side of the restaurant so they will have more seating soon. Food taste the same as previous location. Yummy!!! Price went up slightly but didn't everyone else's prices too. They are very generous with their serving. Give them a try. read more

Finally got a chance to go to the new location of Mini Garden Express on Nimitz Hwy . I'm so glad they they didn't close up because their food is pretty reasonable for the amount you get ... they have a good variety of noodles .. soup .. rice dishes and all are still delicious!! The only thing I regret ( probably because of cost ) they don't use the thin Hong King style noodles anymore.. I usually order my favorite which is the crispy noodles with shredded chicken/ bean sprouts but I ordered the Stewed noodle with Roast Duck instead . The noodles are are not in soup but it comes with a bowl of soup and you eat it however you want ... But the winner is the Roast Duck !! So good! The interior of restaurant is pretty large with a big dining area where you can come with a big party to relax and talk story while dining . They're open every day so I'll be coming back for sure for other favorite noodles ! read more

I love Mini Garden Express! They are currently open for take out only. There are no tables to sit at, and the ground is marked for standing in line with social distancing. The employees that I could see were all wearing masks and the employee making noodles with broth also had gloves on. When I come here, I almost always get the Minute Chicken with Crispy noodles and this time was no exception. I did add char siu and choi sum with stewed noodles as well. The stewed noodles come with a small container of broth to mix with your noodles. They are mild, and delicious-a comfort food. The minute chicken is perfectly seasoned, mixed with greens, tender in contrast to the crispy noodles which hold some of their crispness even in the gravy. read more

Phoned in an order for Black Bean Chicken with Cake Noodle, Minute Chicken with Crispy Noodle (sauce on side), and a Chop Chop Rice plate with Duck & Roast Pork. Took me roughly 30 minutes to head down to Airport Commercial Center only to have them not put in my order at all?? The lady said that maybe I called the wrong number, but I showed her the phone number and sure enough it was correct. She placed the order again and total came out to $46?? I questioned it, but didn't say anything (I should've). I waited another 15-20 minutes for them to make my order even though I was late for my meeting. Food was alright, until my boyfriend said his minute chicken was cold. I tried a bite and sure enough, it was cold as if it had been in the fridge overnight. Not to mention they could've put in something small for free to compensate, but that's just me. It's unfortunate because they used to be good when they were at 99 Ranch. Still the best Hong Kong style (thin) noodles in the area! Service is the usual Chinese brusque but with a bit of friendliness. Posting this mostly to let you know they have a new home on Nimitz in the Airport Commercial Center after 7/14/22. Last day at 99 Ranch is 7/14. M ordered my usual char siu noodle in soup. Still yummy with nice chewy noodles and tender, tasty char siu and choi sum. Ate there. Not the same to eat noodles in soup as take out even if the noodles and soup are packed separately. Ordered the minute chicken crispy noodle to go. They ask if tot want the sauce separate, which of course is best or you'll have soft noodles. Forgot to take a pic when I got home, but they gave a lot. Will look for them in their new location after July. read more

This place used to be in the old Ranch 99 food court (now the new Home Depot) . Typical medium grumpy Cantonese service workers taking your order = usually means the food is good, which it was. This time the cashier was a little nicer than what I remembered her to be back at the old Ranch99 location. Singapore noodles were real not the Panda Express version. This kind of food is for those that want real Chinese food (congee, authentic kind) and not the PF Chang crew. Highly recommend. Parking is usually good if you avoid the lunch rush . Ambiance is not nice but not disgusting. If u decide to eat there just eat and play on your phone. The food is so good you won't mind the not beautiful decor. read more
