We have been coming to this place before they moved to the airport location. They used to be inside of Moanalua 99 in Salt Lake which is now Home Depot. We love the workers here and they pretty much watched us grow up from high school to now raising our kids, every time we come by they always give us candy to give to them! We always order the ma-po tofu (husband's fave!) oyster sauce chicken with crispy noodles (my fave!) Yeung chau fried rice, and beef tendon with stewed noodle. Whenever we have gatherings or parties we would always bring a pan of the their Gon Lo Mein and that would always be a hit! I ask for the sauce to be separated so when I get home .. I pour the sauce over my crispy noodles so my noodles are still crispy when I eat it . I've been here many times and the food is always on point... but, there was one time I had some roast duck cake noodle and halfway through I found a fried moth ‍ I've seen a lot worse from other places needless to say, I threw out the moth and finished my plate ‍. Mini Garden Express shares its free parking lot with Joe's Grill Express near the airport. It's a casual spot with no air-conditioning. The doors are left open for ventilation. Service is very friendly. The female cashier seems to be the owner. She doesn't charge a credit card fee because it's unfair to the customer. Thank you! I ordered wor wonton soup. There were many dumplings and lots of veggies! There were a couple of shrimp, pieces of cha Siu, and chicken! Wow! Which consisted of chicken, char sui, and vegetables on fried noodles. also came with four pieces of gau gee . The gau gee was lacking flavor. The rest of the dish was spot on. On this Facebook food group I belong to, someone mentioned Mini Garden, and since I knew where it was, it was a no brainer! The woman working was really nice and patient! I told her it was my first time and I didn't know what to get because it all looked good! She asked what I was in the mood for and I said noodles. She recommended #21, Gau gee mixed mien. So there was chicken, shrimp, and char siu with mixed vegetables all over crispy noodles. Of course. with the gravy, those noodles became soft. Man oh man...this really hit the spot! Tried this place for the first time today and I originally ordered the crispy pork chops but when I saw the picture in the wall I realized it was anything similar to Sal and pepper pork chops so I changed my order to char soy and roast pork on fried rice. I paid about $17 and the char siu was good. The roast pork could've been better half of the skin wasn't crispy and very chewy. But the meat tasted fine. My husband was looking for a place to eat and came across this Chinese fast food take out. Auntie Nadine C.went there just recently and ordered their wor won ton soup it looked good. So we decided to check it out. We didn't really wanted to eat soup though so we had their crispy gau gee mein on crispy noodles. Ordered spring rolls to eat there and roast duck to go for home. The crispy gau gee mein crispy noodles was good I thought would of had at least more than 1 shrimp lol...but they have lots of veggies and 2 piece char siu and 2 pieces chicken. My husband is a loyal fan of their sweet and sour pork with fried rice. First, as mentioned before, when looking for the best "Chinese" food with a level of authenticity, the sweet spot is 3.5 stars on yelp or google. Why? People who think Panda Express is five stars also write reviews and pig ears, chicken feet, intestines, tripe, tendon, gluten, are probably not on their idea of five stars. Reasons to go: 1. Niu Nan Mian (braised brisket and tendon noodles). Ginger, garlic, star anise, cinnamon, dried orange, chu hou paste, oyster sauce, soy sauce, shao xing wine, rock sugar and sesame oil all used to season a long braise of the brisket and tendon. Sat over night, fat skimmed. The resulting thick, collagen rich sauce enrobes uber tender chunks of brisket and tendon is poured on won ton noodles, dry or in a steaming dried shrimp, beef, and MSG broth. PERFECT. As in I've tasted no better version on the Island. 2. Any other soup based noodle. Same hot dried shrimp, beef and MSG laden broth as the niu nam if in soup that enhances any of their simple toppings. From pop able, chewy, simmered shrimp and pork won tons to meaty pieces of roast duck it all just works atop the thin HK noodles. 3. CNY special Jai. Year after year, hands down, the best jai. I walked in and there were 2 ladies. The one at the counter was smiling and seemed really nice. The other lady was working hard filling the order before me. I asked for the dual "combo" of beef brisket, beef tendon, with look funn in soup. It didn't take too long and I was offered chili oil. YES! I took every home and was pleasantly surprised with the meal! Thick chunks of beef, hot soup, nice noodles and choy sum. Delicious. This soup was "cleaner" than the other place I usually order from. In the area picking up an online order I thought I'd finally stop and have lunch, line was already out the door but I wasn't in a hurry. Originally thought I'd eat there but too warm and too crowded for my comfort level. This little "fast food" restaurant is one of the many small restaurants that were part of the 99 Ranch kiosk style eateries for years. When that location was sold to a big box store Mini Garden relocated to the little strip mall next door to Aloha Green Herb House and The Hemptuary. Don't expect to be wowed by their customer service or great table service. They are an order and move your feet business. There's plenty of parking, easy access with one wall of plate lunches pictures to choose from. Me and my momma always share our food like Chinese family style. I asked her for plates and bowls and she gives me a tiny container and the cover of the soup bowl as our plate. Like oh m g. I asked her how much for the plastic extra bowl and I just paid her for it. She wants to take back the tiny container and cover which I mentioned that I will need to use that. So I am afraid to ask for another extra spoon. Thinking to myself, this is the worst take out experience ever! As I am eating my food and observing the staff member. First time to this new location. I used to go to the location at 99 ranch often but it closed. This one has a pretty large area you can eat but most of seating area of the restaurant was closed off when I went. Their AC also wasn't working so they just had some large fans blowing air through the restaurant. You also have to purchase all drinks including water. Their shrimp wonton are still the same and delicious as it was in the past. The Mongolian beef was disappointing with tons of onions and little beef. The minute chicken and braised tendons were good. I'm so glad that Mini Garden Express was able to find another location after Moanalua 99 Ranch shut down. You can find them in the Airport Commercial Center where the popular Joe's Grill Express is located (across from them). Their grand opening was on Monday, November 14, so it was perfect timing to stop by. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the cashier, same lady that worked at the old location and she remembered me!! :) there's about 5 tables to eat on and not sure if their AC was fully working yet, but they had a bunch of fans blowing and you can feel the heat from the kitchen, so it was pretty warm in the front area. Their prices looked like they were raised, but the portions seemed to stay the same which is nice!
