I've been coming to this place forever. I remember when the lobster was $6.99 each at Fook Yuen with a purchase of an entree. Phuket Thai was here. Then, it was Thai Lao. Now, Tadka is in that space. Clay Cafe moved here from Ward Warehouse when it closed down. 7-11 became a tenant a few years ago. Coffee or Tea is the OG milk tea place, before milk tea started popping up at every corner. Oh My Grill is where Panya Bakery used to be. I actually worked at that Panya for 2-3 years while I was in college. Oh the memories! I will always have a soft spot for this place. They have parking on the street level, but it fills up fast. They have additional parking in the basement. read more

What an awesome weekend to be able to see a YouTuber (Raina) whom I've watched on YouTube. Raina was there to be in a hamburger eating contest hosted by Oh Me Grill at the McCully Shopping Center. There was a total of 9 participants including Raina. Of course, she won the eating contest. Raina ate 10 hamburgers in 5 minutes. Each participant receive a $20 gift card per hamburger eaten which was pretty good. Raina was the with Lovely Mimi whom brought the crowd to live with all her energy. After the contest, we got to take pictures with Raina and Lovely Mimi. I was able to have them autograph hubby's hat since he could not make it. They were giving away signed tote bag and stickers to the first 100 people. read more

Vehicle parking stalls are way too small. I have a nice car so, it's a no-go for me. Your friends will tell you the sames. They think they can park more cars, but it makes sense to fill all the sensible size stalls versus having empty tight ones. Some logical thinking may help. read more

This place is currently under renovation. There are some workers working somewhere & I had no idea what they're working. Well..... When you visit there website they advertise really exciting events & how great this place is. But when you step there, it's the definition of "Expectation vs Reality". Always packed! Parking a car is tough. Narrow parking space & homeless just come & go & worst they'll just shout on you (most of the time makes me startled). A world of cuisines! Bozu jap restaurant, carp dori, coffee or tea?, curry house coco ichibanya, fook yuen chi restaurant, hot pot, osaka teppanyaki, oh my grill, pho 777, taco bell & thai lao. The newest specialty store is coming too! Edible Cookie Dough Cafe. Additional store on the neighborhood! More cookie cookie cookie treat! They also got shops & services in here like massage spa & nail salon. Oh by the way, they got 7/11 in here too! McCully Shopping Center - Great result ... - Shopping Centers Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

This is specifically for the parking lot. The stalls are way too tight. It is almost inevitable that the car next to you is over the line. On any given day, there are at least a half-dozen stalls where no one can park in because people are parked over the line. I just had a conversation with several neighbors who refuse to go to McCully Shopping Center anymore because of the parking situation. Dings on our car doors, stories of having to enter the car from the passenger side. We have witnessed elderly and people with babies having to reverse car and stick out in lane to let passengers out and take out/put in car seats. They need to redo the parking lot and widen the stalls! Definitely ruining business for the clients there. read more

Because I live on the Windward side of Oahu, I don't visit McCully Shopping Center too often. It's located on Kapiolani Boulevard between McCully Street and Pumehana Street. When I did live in Honolulu, I went to Fook Yuen (Chinese cuisine) on the upper level of this two-story building and enjoyed the buffet. I also had gone to the Thai restaurant and Snow Factory. 7-Eleven is still there, as well as Taco Bell which is a separate building. There's a parking lot in the front with two entrances: one on McCully Street and one on Pumehana Street. Personally, I prefer the covered parking which is under the building - enter from Pumehana Street. The stalls seem to be a bit wider than the stalls in the open lot. Another good thing about parking downstairs is that there's an Elevator next to the spaces designated for Persons with Disabilities. I kind of like this shopping center because it has a variety of restaurants (pho, milk tea, hot pot, etc.) and businesses such as a travel agency, a nail salon, and The Face Shop (Korean line of cosmetics and skin care). It was Christmas Eve when I stepped foot on the premises of McCully Shopping Center. I was accompanying three other individuals that night. We wanted dessert and Snow Factory is located here at the shopping center but the establishment was already closed for the night. Our group ended up going to 7-11 instead. From the looks of the parking situation...it's very crowded. Stalls can be entered from two different ways so it's best to pay attention to the other drivers. It was a very tight squeeze in getting out from the drivers side...trying not to give the parked car on the left side of the vehicle a dent is very hard to do especially if the stall is small. Many years ago I remember coming to McCully Shopping Center when I had a four hour break between classes at the former Cannon Business College. Back then I would always walk it from Keaaumoku to the McCully Shopping Center to have lunch at Taco Bell. With the many changes throughout the years I would like to revisit McCully Shopping Center in the future and sample the grindages from the different food establishments. read more

Not my favorite place to visit =/ Parking: The parking here SUCKS! Stalls are very limited and very SMALL! You will probably get a ding here if you come here a few times. I got my first ding here, my current car, when I first came back from CA. Not very happy about that! It's busy here during the evening which is frustrating. You fight traffic to get here then you fight to get a stall. Not fun! Restaurants & Misc: They do have several choices here from Curry, Thai, Chinese, Pho, Ramen, Hot Pot, Milk Tea, Desserts and Plate Lunches. If you need something quick then they have 7-11 there. There are two ATM's here (ground level - one in 7-11 and one next the elevator). The elevator here sucks! It's slow and HOT! It's scary to think it would break down on you and you would be stuck in there. Restrooms are on the top floor next to the elevator (you need a code to get in). I try to avoid coming here but I recall a travel office and a shop where they sell clothes and outfits. If I missed anything then I apologize because usually I try to limit my time here when I do come. read more

I dread having to go to mccully shopping center during dinner time. I used to pride myself on being able to park in their tiny stalls, but I just don't bother trying anymore. It's not worth it. I'd much rather convince everyone I'm meeting to go to ala moana instead. Yes, Phuket Thai, curry house and hot pot heaven are delicious, but there is a Phuket Thai at ward with ample parking and curry house has many other locations. As for hot pot heaven, I'll go during non rush hour times or just go to sweet home. It's really unfortunate that the parking at mccully shopping center is so dismal, otherwise I'd be there more often. McCully Shopping Center is the gateway in-between Ala Moana Shopping Center and Waikiki. This shopping mall is essentially a strip mall with mostly restaurants that is anchored with a 7-Eleven. Sometimes, I would go here because I am passing through here on the way to work and need a quick bite to eat. There are great dining options here. I would personally recommend Phuket Thai or the Chinese restaurant upstairs, although I started to ban Chinese cuisine in my stomach a while back, since it screws with me. The Korean restaurant is tolerable, but I never did try that new Snow ice place, which took over a fast food joint recently. The parking can be tight at peak times, but you can find great value here, versus Waikiki and Ala Moana shopping centers. Located on Kapiolani Blvd, this may be the best mall ever. B+ read more

WOW, McCully Shopping Center has such a great selection of restaurants!! There's an awesome ramen shop, a great Fook Yuen lobster dish, a nice pho place, coffee or tea, hot pot heaven, etc etc! Such great mouth watering restaurants! Too bad it's nearly impossible to find parking! Even when that one rare stall opens up and you're the lucky one to claim it...it takes a 20-point turn to wedge your tiny compact car into the stall without taking out your neighbor's side view mirror. This magical moment is about the exact same time when my tiny corolla-sized car decides to transform into a huge hummer I suppose. Also, enter the underground parking structure at your own riskl! Its always fun to drive in and not get lucky...and then realize that you have to pull an Austin Power's car move to turn around to exit. None the less, there is a great selection of places to check out here. One of the best shopping centers to come to because of the different eateries available! Plus, the eateries tend to be open later than the shopping malls, so a great place to go for a late night dinner. My favorite places to go: - Hot Pot Heaven: my favorite hot pot place. - Curry House Coco Ichibanya: the Curry House I go to for my curry udon fixed. - Yotekka-Ya: ramen combos...enough said. - Snow Factory: a light dessert. So many options with all the flavors and toppings. - Coffee of Tea?: momi coffee :) Why the four stars? I need to say it - the parking. There are a lot of good businesses here and most of them are open late. Coffee or Tea is the perfect late night hangout. 7-Eleven is always good for picking up a musubi before I head to the beach. Fook Yuen is good for family dinners. If you're craving saimin, you have to check out Yotteko-ya. What I hate most about this place is their parking. There are limited spaces and it's tiny. I don't recommend driving an SUV down there. I can assure you that you're doing to get scratches on your door from the car parked next to you. They have more parking at the bottom but those spaces are just as small. If you go all the way to the end, you're going to get stuck because there's not enough space to turn your car around. McCully Shopping Center has 2 levels of shops and restaurants with 2 levels of parking. There's an uncovered parking lot (street level) on Kapiolani Blvd; the second level of parking is covered and underground with the entrance on the one-way street Pumehana. Warning: if you think the parking stalls on the street level are tight, just wait until you park in the underground lot. Door-ding central. I would actually term this deficient "shopping center" as a "shopping plaza" or "strip mall" instead. I think the term "shopping center," in this sense, is quite misleading. I think these terms have developed and transformed beyond their original meanings over the years, especially with the rise of new types of specialty malls (i.e., vertical malls, regional centers, superregional centers, outlets, outdoor malls, strip malls, community centers, and others). Anyway, you'll find places like Hot Pot Heaven, Snow Factory, Phuket Thai, 7-Eleven, the newly added Face Shop, Coffee or Tea?, Curry House, Fook Yuen, So Gong Dong, and more. My favorite of the restaurants (more like my guilty pleasure) is Taco Bell, even though their service sucks--it's the only drive-thru Taco Bell in the area that's open late. All in all, McCully Shopping Center is pretty good, especially for the nice assortment of restaurants. I go here on a somewhat regular basis bc of convenience and also bc of a few of the restaurants I like (Hot Pot Heaven and Taco Bell). One of the coolest shopping centers in town. They have coco curry house, and one of my favorite ramen places yotteko ya. There used to be an excellent Korean resturaunt on the second floor but its just been recently relocated. The Thai place at the ground floor is o.k. The hotpot place on the corner is decent. Much like sweet home cafe with a few less perks. Parking sucks, its tight and cramped and I have to squeeze out everytime. read more

Don't drive a big SUV or truck here, you're just going to just give yourself a headache! McCully Shopping Center, the ASIAN hangout spot. If you look to your left and right I bet you that its an asian person. After all you can get Ramen upstairs to your left and pho and Chinese upstairs on the right. You can take some japanese photobooth action kind pictures at Fun Pix also located upstairs by the Hair Salon, which you can also stop at to enjoy a nice haircut. Then when you want to chill you can go back downstairs and drink some fancy bubble drink or indulge in their fancy shave ice or even their large variety of coffee and smoothies at Coffee Or Tea. Then if you wanna burn some calories you can stop at some of the shops like The Face Shop or the small boutiques. The more I think about it, McCully Shopping Center offers a lot. They got italian, japanese, chinese, vietnamese foods, Bistro A Un offers a decent bar. They got Taco Bell with a drive thru, they got a 7-11, they got a dry cleaner and a waxing place, They even got a Snow Factory which everyone has to try at least once for the experience. They also got HotPot! Only thing is that during traffic hours, this may be the last place you want to end up unless you stay here to kill time till traffic is over! Just a heads up that after 9PM, the parking lot is often times FULL. Some places here are open till late! Coffee Or Tea closes 11 PM Bistro A Un closes 2AM Pho 777 - 1 AM and to top it off with Fook Yuen at 3 AM! Don't be intimidated by the junk parking situation! I abhor McCully Shopping Center. It mainly has to do with the parking, but it goes deeper than that. Although sophomoric minds like mine delight in names such as Phuket Thai, Fook Yuen, and So Long, excuse me, So GONG Dong, almost every restaurant I've tried in this bustling strip puts out some serious, serious food. So, I can deal with horrendous parking elsewhere, but I feel it's evil to make a drooling Pavlovian case study circle the worst lot in the Island, while his favorite restaurants lie just out of his reach. I think they must get some sick, sadistic joy out of taunting me so. And yes, I know about the lilliputian garage on Pumehana St., but it makes my girlfriend's Rav4 seem like an H2. This place is small for a shopping center, but what it lacks in size, it definitely makes up with variety! On the weekends, it is very busy here with parking on the ground level full. There is basement parking, but it is usually filled to capacity too. If you're patient you can still get a stall. Through the rest of the week, parking is usually plentiful. I come here at least once a week for many reasons. I love Phuket Thai and I used to think that Phuket had the same pronunciation as a swear word. Later, I learned the correct way to say it. If you want Amercanized Mexican food, Taco Bell is here. There is also an island favorite of Curry House, delicious Chinese cuisine of Fook Yuen, Vietmanese pho, Hot pot heaven (where you put foods into a hot pot), and many more. I walk my happy butt here on the regular so, for that, I am happy. As far as strip malls go, this is fairly well appointed. I dont think that I could venture to endorse the "Shooping Center" feel that are trying to go for but OK?!? I frequent this place because of the many shops and restaurants I go to. The only one thing i hate about this place is their PARKING. Never enough stalls and the stalls, especially in the garage, is too damn small. It's like smaller than a compact stall even though its marked as compact. And everyone with a big vehicle squeezes into these stalls. Making it harder for me to park and get out of my without making a mark in their car. Just annoying. So i have to plan my day accordingly. Make sure my appointments are first thing in the morning and if dining their it's not during the peak times. Sucks but you got to what you got to do. read more
