Ala Moana Center: The world's largest open-air shopping center. There are more than 350 shops and restaurants to peruse, including multiple department stores, first-class boutiques, and over 160 dining options. Get your FitBit ready because you can get those steps in easily here. Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Celiné, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, ... And odd ones like The Dodgers Store and Target also exists in this same space. It's a hodge-podge of big brands and random businesses. You can spend hours here easily if you're one who likes to comb through the racks of every store you come across. Heck, you can get 350+ reviews from just being a patron to this mall alone. Have fun, Yelpers. As Carrie Bradshaw says, "Shopping in my cardio."

Confusing layout and there was human feces smeared all over one of the drinking fountains (yes, really).

As Oahu's largest shopping mall, Ala Moana Center has always been a place to meet up with friends and family for decades. I actually stopped here that often, years ago, because it started getting a bit too "busy", especially with all the confusing store locations, accessing different split levels, parking areas, and just the overall "halfhazard" nature of the expansion. This all changed when my granddaughter started walking, because it's still a great place to let toddlers run around to explore, and of all the new dining spots to go to. They do have their ongoing issues with maintenance, especially the elevators, escalators, and the issue with water during rainy days like today. I don't remember a time when everything was working, and there wasn't at least one escalator or elevator out of service. Still, it's the place to go for locals and tourists. I love that they still have entertainment happening at Center Stage (even though it's facing the opposite direction from the original), and new generations can start building their own memories, although remembering where I parked is more difficult with all the new levels, lol.

What's not to lava? At 2,270,186 square feet, Ala Moana is thee largest open-air shopping center in the world! What makes it a five-star mall is the free parking, 95% occupancy, million dollar art installations (including a Yayoi Kusama pumpkin), koi ponds, comfy seating area outside the bathrooms, the biggest food court I've ever seen, and a centerstage giving 800 performances a year. Because of its iconic mid-century modern architecture and lush tropical landscaping, Ala Moana has been a frequent backdrop for Hollywood, including both the original and reboots of Hawaii Five-O and Magnum PI, plus White Lotus and LOST. Scenes include Hurley eating three pizzas, multiple close-ups of eyeballs, and Jin mistaking the cat cafe for the food court. Just kidding: just flashbacks of Jin in the Shirojiya store, posing as South Korea (S1:E17). Elvis even appeared there shortly after its 1959 opening. He didn't sing, but if he did, an appropriate mall playlist could have included: Don't Be Kohl's, All Shake Shack Up, (Let Me Be Your) Build-a-Bear, Heartbreak Hot-topic, and A Little Less Conversation (A Little More Gamestop).

I'm surprised I haven't already reviewed this place when I've frequented this center most times I've been here in Hawaii. We usually come here because there's a lot of stores we like to enjoy here such as: Dave & Busters, Uniqlo, Foodland, Cat Cafe MOFF, Yeti, etc. just to name a few. They also have a wide variety of food options in the food court as well, so it's nice to meet up with friends and family who have different tastes in food and eat together. This is not our first time here and won't be our last.

Nice mall near Waikiki that we almost always visit when in town. The mall is huge so we often get lost or at least turned around trying to find places. Love that they have free parking in every lot and garage; just don't forget where you parked! Our favorite spots here include the humongous food court, Target, and Foodland. They also have a free hula show daily at 5 pm in the center stage area of the mall.

Ala Moana Center is an outdoor shopping mall in the Waikiki area of Oahu. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists with four levels and free parking. They have a variety of shops (from local to casual to upscale), grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and a food court. There are multiple grocery stores including the popular Foodland Farms offering a wide variety of fresh poke and sushi. In the middle of the common area there's a stage for live music and the occasional hula show. This open-air mall is spacious with a lot of variety for everyone.

This problem with the homeless at the mall needs to be addressed immediately. They continue to hang out behind the mall by Nordstrom (Piikoi Street) and by Foodland. The mess they leave behind is an issue because the mall maintenance workers don't clean up after the homeless. The smell of urine in that is very bad. Mall security needs to patrol the area more and ask the homeless people to leave the premises.

Ala Moana holds a special place in my memories. As a prior reviewer wrote, I also took the bus to the center when I was a child. It has kept up with the times. They have a great selection of stores. Where else can you buy a designer bag, then go to Longs and get some li hing mango? There are many dining options and entertainment too.

    Erich L.

Huge mostly outdoor mall that has all of the top brands plus local stores. There is a large food court on the first floor. Good place to go if you want some shopping or to beat the heat.

If Valley Fair took a tropical vacation, it'd look a lot like Ala Moana Center. This outdoor mall is clean, vibrant, and full of island charm with palm trees, ocean breezes, and a great mix of shops. You've got everything from Nordstrom and Macy's to Ross, Old Navy, Coach, Target, Foodland, and yes, an ABC Store. There's something for everyone, whether you're after high-end or budget finds. The food court is massive, with local and international favorites. Jamba Juice, Raising Cane's, Happy Lemon, Jollibee, Sbarro, and a wide range of Asian eats make it a foodie paradise. One of my favorite places to explore in Honolulu. Great for shopping, snacking, and soaking up the vibe.

Ask the Community - Ala Moana Center

Where exactly are the charging stations and is there a fee?

They're kind of all over the place. There's a couple by Foodland, a couple by Nordstrom (2nd floor), a couple by Morton's, a couple by coffee bean and a couple by genki. You need the shell app to start charging and the fast chargers cost money

I was there about 20 years ago and remember a grocery store with a big downstairs that had prepared foods and food gifts. Was that at foodland or a different store? Thanks! Heading there June 4th!!!

Yes! Foodland has been in the Ala Moana Shopping Center for years and has moved to a new larger location on the Ewa side of the mall. Enjoy!

Is the Japanese food court still there?

If you are referring to Shirokiya, it is not. There were a bunch of standalone Hapanese restaurant iptions though. .

Many shops, including Long’s Drug, carry/sell calendars.

How is the parking situation at the mall's parking lot? is it impossible to find a spot?

Theres a lot of parking. All depends on what time you go, where you go, if it's a holiday etc.. all depends.

Are there any Arts snd crafts supply stores in the center?

Ala Moana Center has 350+ shops and restaurants to explore for "retail therapy" but none that I would consider as an arts & crafts supplier. You MIGHT find some supplies in Target department store.

Do they still have koi feedings? Last time I went there no one showed up

Not too sure you may want to check when their guest services it would be best. #YahYou

Please someone help me out? Is there any store there that sells exercise wear? I'm looking for a gym/sauna suit for my father. 🙏

There is a Champs there although I don't think they sell a sauna suit. Target is also at this mall, likely the ONLY retailer at the mall that would sell a sauna suit. There's a Walmart down the road on Keeamoku which I know sells sauna suits

Are there bike racks outside of the mall?

First floor. In the parking lot area outside of AT&T by the cab/taxi area.

I go here a lot. Whenever I drive into the parking garage near the new wing it always says 9 floors, but I only ever see 5 floors. Where is 6-9, and how do you get there?

6-9 is reserved for the tenants and guests of the condominiums and is only accessible via their private ramp.

High end stores, high end restaurants and other great things like art exhibits. Now that I live in California, I do visit Oahu every two years. At the time when we came here in 2019, we went to a photography exhibit by National Geographic. Now this is something I enjoy. I think tourists could enjoy it too and bring in the modernized look for Waikiki. I have been on the fence about the traditional vendors over these overpriced high end stores. I look at it in a business perspective. Hawaii drives its economy through tourism. We are in the United States of America and you got major cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles and such. It's competing for more tourists to come to Hawaii. I hate to say this but Hawaii versus Miami? You got people with money that spend at high end stores. People now look at Waikiki like you're shopping on Rodeo Drive. Well if this is what attracts tourists - so be it to help the economy. It is a shame that it has to be this way to survive in this economy. The workers in Waikiki have pride in their job and make an honest living in an expensive state. I do miss the old International Marketplace. It was nice seeing vendors sell things.
