Aloha Donut

We came to this shopping center for a night market that was happening while we were in town. It was a great way to check out the shopping center and see a lot of different local food vendors and shops. There was A TON of people and lots of different entertainment and snacks. We got mochi donuts from Aloha Donut, garlic shrimp from Da Bald Guy food truck, and shopped a lot of local vendors for things like jerky chips, pet accessories, etc.

If Salt at Our Kaka'ako was a person, it'd be the effortlessly cool, well-traveled friend you secretly wish you could be. This small, yet charming shopping center is a treasure trove of culture, flavors, and aloha, brought to life by Kamehameha Schools. Whether you're here to shop, eat, or simply vibe, Salt delivers divine treasures within a highly artistic setting. Pro Tips for Max Bliss: 1. Treehouse: Ditch the camera phone and explore this gem for all of your film photography needs. Trust me, digital can't compete with the magic of old-school film. Even if you're just here to pretend you know what an f-stop is, this place will make you feel like an artist. 2. 7 Gradi: Unique, locally inspired gelato flavors that will make you question why you ever settled for plain vanilla. Seriously, why, when you can indulge your tastebuds in Ube, Riso, and Lilikoi? So ono, as the locals would say. 3. Moku Kitchen: Come during a less busy time period (midweek lunch) or be prepared to wait to enjoy the fresh island flavors or the delicious cocktails that live within these walls. The amazing news is that if you do have a wait, there's plenty around to explore. Salt is more than a shopping center--it's a cultural experience that wraps you in the warm Hawaiian hug filled with aloha. A must-visit if you're looking to support local, soak up good vibes, and savor the island life. Five stars, because six isn't an option! Mahalo!

Todays event was AWESOME! Although we only had an hours time because we came a lot late. LOL! But still the booths were interactive for the Keikis. And then there's A LOT of vendors with foods, snacks & things!

I love coming to place this place. It's every foodies dream. It's comprised of multiple eateries. It's anchored by Highway Inn, Moku Kitchen and The Boiling Crab; the three biggest restaurants. Salon Tiffany, Revolusun Smart Home, Lash Love Beauty Lounge, Verizon and T-Mobile are also located here. My favorite establishments are Pioneer Saloon, Redfish Pole Bar by Foodland and 7Gradi Gelato. The parking rates aren't horrendous. The parking is free with validation if you leave before the first hour. After the first hour be prepared to drop a few dollars.

Shopping and dining in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... SALT at Our Kaka'ako is a relatively new outdoor complex. There are nooks and crannies everywhere and even an upstairs. The directory is helpful because I can't even tell you where things are! PARKING: metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're lucky, you can catch free street parking on Keawe Street. The parking structure at SALT has reasonable rates. It's free with validation if you exit before the hour is up. Personally, I have visited: * 7Gradi Gelato - the space used to be Butterfly Ice Cream * 9BAR HNL - coffee and scruffin * ARVO - coffee * BEVY - nightlife * hank's Haute Dogs - hot dog *Highway Inn - Hawaiian cuisine * Hungry Ear Records - music * insomnia - Cafe * MOKU Kitchen - dinner * Morning Brew - coffee and bagel * Starbucks - coffee * Taco'ako - tacos * Village Bottle Shop - adult beverages There's a wide variety of eateries at SALT. There are many more that I want to visit! I'll be back! Note: if you need the restroom, ask for the code to unlock the door

Salt in the middle of Kaka'ako is it's own community sandwiched between Ala Moana and Downtown it's an artsy urban chill zone with little bit of everything a few small parks with cool playgrounds and basketball court, parking garages and many eateries and unique shops not found anywhere else. SALT and Pow! Wow! Hawaii have us looking not just at the breathtaking murals but fried egg art scattered on sidewalks, chain fence art and more! My favorite is The Barn @ SALT and is called that because it's shaped like a barn, this outdoorsy covered area has seating scattered safely and is a fantastic place to take a break. Follow SALT on Instagram @saltourkakaako for events and info and see what's it's all about. Thank you!!

What an incredible place and surrounding neighborhood! I found this place while on the search for local art, this did not disappoint. Murals and sculpture are intertwined in this neighborhood. I early saw the work of 59 artists working 6 square blocks. The pieces onsite at SALT were lovely and protected from the elements. There were lots of places to sit out site or take pictures. I went during the week so not all the businesses were open. The grounds and restrooms were clean which is a huge plus. Loved it and would go back for sure!

Pay station for the parking garage.

When they ran out, that was it until the next time and it was not everyday. Penny's malasadas was good and delicious. It was hot and sooo ono, as we say it in the islands! High end stores, high end restaurants and other great things like art exhibits. Now that I live in California, I do visit Oahu every two years. At the time when we came here in 2019, we went to a photography exhibit by National Geographic. Now this is something I enjoy. I think tourists could enjoy it too and bring in the modernized look for Waikiki. I have been on the fence about the traditional vendors over these overpriced high end stores. I look at it in a business perspective. Hawaii drives its economy through tourism. We are in the United States of America and you got major cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles and such. It's competing for more tourists to come to Hawaii. I hate to say this but Hawaii versus Miami? You got people with money that spend at high end stores. People now look at Waikiki like you're shopping on Rodeo Drive. Well if this is what attracts tourists - so be it to help the economy. It is a shame that it has to be this way to survive in this economy. The workers in Waikiki have pride in their job and make an honest living in an expensive state. I do miss the old International Marketplace. It was nice seeing vendors sell things.
