I was minding my own business on the Ala Wai Canal. There I found my puffer fish friends. Almost every morning when I decided to walk with the doggo, I never skip Ala Wai Promenade. But one day out of curiosity, I decided to walk around Hobron neighborhood. (sigh) just building from left to right. Some are tall some aren't. But I saw this big gate and it read Eaton Square. A quick search on Yelp but unfortunately, not too much information about the area. So I decided to make my microadventure in here. The very first thing you'll notice is the place ain't busy. It's like a calm shopping center intended for the people living within those tall buildings & the neighboring area. I kind'a like it though. There is an array of tenants from food to banking, which creates a unique shopping experience. Services includes support center, salon service, health center, purple yoga, clinic specialist & post office. Chop chop rotisserie, Komedokoro, Kulu Kulu & food pantry (mini grocery store) are food hubs you can visit. TYs BBQ & Grill food-truck is in here nearby too (will gonna try their menu maybe this week). A gem that is pretty much of everything right? Who would have thought that in the middle of the bustling Ala Moana & Waikiki intersection lies this so-called promising Eaton Square that will offer you something good. Great find place to consider walking one fine morning ayt. Mahalo & happy juandering fellow yelpers! @hello.juanderbandit www.juanderbandit.world

Located right at the entrance of Waikiki, Eaton Square is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it type of building. Located at 438 Hobron Lane, they offer a parking garage for patrons and the public. On this visit, we chose to park on the street, which arguably is more expensive than the per hour charge at the Eaton Square garage. Side note: surrounding metered street stalls are $0.25 for 5 minutes. If parking in the garage, keep an eye out for signage to get to the shops, unless you are heading for the residential area. I've heard it's quite common for people to get lost/turned around by accidentally going to the residential side when they really meant to go to the shops. Some businesses (think beauty services and medical offices) do validate parking, but not all. IF PARKING IN THEIR GARAGE: be aware that they only accept CC payment for parking, no cash! No attendant on duty after 2:00pm on most days. Below are a list of shops I saw on my visit: Aloha Toxicology Be U Salon Hiane Salon Laura Ozak, R.N Manoa Canon Integrated Health Pacific Hair Waikiki Shinji Hair Steelsmith Natural Health Center Nikko Gems Pacific Instruments Surf in the City Food Pantry Komedororo M's Kulu Kulu Sweet Haato Tlachuaches 808 Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Waikiki Shah and Associates United States Post Office World Divine Light Not a super wide variety of things in terms of food/drink but does the job if you're in the area. Though a lot of their community tables and chairs have bird poop on them, and their koi ponds aren't very populated, I do enjoy being able to sit outside under the shade. There is a fish feed dispenser outside of Tlachuaches 808, I think its a quarter to get a small handful of fish feed!

It's the perfect mix of shopping, food, and island vibes -- and the fact that it's open-air makes it even better . Location & Hours: Super convenient and easy to get to, right between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu Most stores are open around 10am-8pm, but restaurant hours vary (some open earlier or close later ). Parking (the BEST part): FREE PARKING!!! Yes -- totally free self-parking with tons of garages all around the mall. There are so many spots, but it does get busy on weekends, so coming earlier is always a good idea . Performances & Entertainment: They often have free live performances like hula dancing and Hawaiian music at the center stage -- such a fun surprise while shopping and a great way to soak in the culture! Best Restaurants & Food: SO many good options Mariposa - great for a sit-down meal Tanaka of Tokyo - always a fun experience Food court - perfect for quick bites Ruscello / CPK - easy and family-friendly Tons of dessert and coffee spots for shopping breaks You could literally eat here all day . High end stores, high end restaurants and other great things like art exhibits. Now that I live in California, I do visit Oahu every two years. At the time when we came here in 2019, we went to a photography exhibit by National Geographic. Now this is something I enjoy. I think tourists could enjoy it too and bring in the modernized look for Waikiki. I have been on the fence about the traditional vendors over these overpriced high end stores. I look at it in a business perspective. Hawaii drives its economy through tourism. We are in the United States of America and you got major cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles and such. It's competing for more tourists to come to Hawaii. I hate to say this but Hawaii versus Miami? You got people with money that spend at high end stores. People now look at Waikiki like you're shopping on Rodeo Drive. Well if this is what attracts tourists - so be it to help the economy. It is a shame that it has to be this way to survive in this economy. The workers in Waikiki have pride in their job and make an honest living in an expensive state. I do miss the old International Marketplace. It was nice seeing vendors sell things.

No strict plan needed. One minute you're browsing locally made jewelry or handcrafted souvenirs, and the next you're drawn in by live music drifting through the open-air walkways. It feels lively without being overwhelming, like the perfect balance of energy and ease that Waikiki does so well. It also has that effortless day-to-night transition. During the day, it's bright, breezy, and great for a casual stroll or a quick bite between beach time. By evening, the whole area softens into something a little more magical: Music, people lingering longer, and the gentle breeze giving your nighttime stroll that movie magic.
