Meze is a great option for Greek food in Dyker Heights. There aren't very many Greek restaurants in the area, unless you head into Bay Ridge. Yesterday was the first time I've been here in about a year or so, and the food was just as good and fresh as I remember. I came here for lunch with a friend and shared the hummus and pita. The pita was just out of the oven and the hummus was really delicious. I had the combination salad, which is pretty much your typical Greek salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, peppers and olives. We came here on a pretty off hour, so we were virtually the only people in the restaurant. Service was decent, but the servers kind of sat around talking since the place was so empty. Everything is reasonably priced, especially considering how good the food is. If you like Greek, definitely give Meze a try. read more

Not impressed. The food was bland. The octopus was burnt and too soft. Their dips were short of anything interesting. The lamb gyro platter was decent. The grilled branzino had no taste whatsoever. The wait staff and service was great. They were very hospitable and friendly. For appetizers, we ordered the Spanakopita and ohtapodi (grilled octopus). Both were delicious!! The spanakopita's crust was very flaky and the cheese was not overwhelming while the grilled octopus, with the lemon sauce, was mouth watering. For dinner, my wife ordered the stuff shrimps while I had the lamb chops. The stuffed shrimps was also tasty but the lamb chops' meat lacked flavor (was garnished well, but the lamb itself did not have any taste (though I am comparing with lamb chops I had in Greece and Turkey, which I haven't had anywhere else). Desserts included the rice pudding and the loukamades with nutella. The rice in the pudding was a little hard and the cinnamon didn't add much flavor. Nice decor, pleasant space. Had a glass of Greek white wine that was good. Ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with Greek greens in olive oil for lunch. Waited about 30 min. for my dish. They served me a very small piece of bass which was tasty, to their credit. When I told the waiter they skimped on the fish, he said he'd take $5 off of the $30+ dish. However, it seemed they charged a few dollars MORE. I enjoyed what little food I received but I was significantly over-charged and I still tipped almost 20%. Where do I begin- lets start by saying thank you for making such good food in our neighborhood- which is so uncommon I can name three restaurants that I could solidly rate five stars. That said- apps- the char-grilled octopus is heaven and oh wait the saganaki cheese with ouzo is INSANE...a must- the dips are OK, upon my third time ordering them i decided i wont order them again. The Greek sausage with tziki sauce is incredible as well (sheftalies?) and don't forget to order the gigandes- the big beans- they are delish! As far as entrees my favorites are: The best steak in the world is their roumanian steak!! Its literally the best, the lamb chops also char-grilled- delish, the grilled whole fish- spectacular. my husband loves the sea bass. Had a dinner here with my boyfriend on a Friday night. Arrived around 8:30pm and was seated promptly. It's a super cozy space and was more crowded than we had thought. We had ordered from here via seamless a few times and dining in was even better!! We ordered 2 glasses of wine, a grilled squid stuffed with spicy feta appetizer and hummus with pita. My entree was a whole grilled branzino with a side of beets and my boyfriend had the lamb araka. Everything was amazing!!! We wish we'd had room to finish and try some dessert. Flavorful is really the best word to describe the food here. I'm not hugely familiar with Greek food so I just take the advice of the experts here. I'm yet to be disappointed but I will caution against waiting too long to eat if you get takeout or delivery as the moist nature of some of the dishes can cause some sogginess over time. Loved it. Not many places I would go back to for Greek food but this is definitely one of them. We had that lamb platter and chicken souvlaki, both were cooked well and tasted great. Both of those are fairly priced and will definitely fill you up. We had a traditional Greek salad as well which was pretty good. The service was great as well. This place is probably one of the best Greek place in the tri-state. It's definitely more flavorful than greek restaurants in Queens! The restaurant is cozy and the staff there are ALL SO friendly! When a waiter saw my boyfriend looking around, even though we weren't his table, he came over right away and asked if we needed anything. We ordered the trio dip platter with hummus, eggplant and the feta dip. My favorite was the feta dip. It was SO good. If you like cheese, you'll enjoy the feta dip. I gave it two stars one for each appetizer I ate that was good. Came here with friends for the first time as they suggested it's supposed it be really good. The tzaziki and warm pitas were really good as well as the grape leaves. They were fresh. I ordered the fish with lemon and lump crab meat, it was nasty. The fish had breadcrumbs on it but they were soggy and wet from whatever liquid the fish was floating in that didn't taste of lemon at all. There was no lump crab meat just a shredded mess that was mixed with wet breadcrumbs on top. It was so wet and mushy and tasted atrocious. Plus there were SO MANY red peppers in it that it ruined the dish. I hate red peppers and it didn't say on the menu that my entree would be swimming in it. Never coming here again. read more

I am a huge Taverna Kyclades fan so when my friends suggested this restaurant, I was a bit hesitant but I was in BK not Queens or Manhattan so no choice. BUT I WAS SO GLAD THEY DID. Delicious little gem hidden away in Brooklyn. Great service and so friendly. They were attentive to our empty wine glasses and beers and made sure we were okay with the food. We ordered the octopus (juicy and deicious), whole branzino (fresh fresh fresh!), stuffed shrimp (lump crab galore inside!) and the swordfish (fresh fresh fresh!). Not the best Greek restaurant to visit. The food is ok, they give you pretty big portions so if you're not very hungry the appetizer is a little too much then. We had chicken and lamb platter, the chicken was ok, not the best one that I tried in Greek restaurant but the lamb was very bad, tasted like a wet bread. The nice thing we didn't have to pay for lamb they offered us in the end to order something else but we were about to leave. The worst part the waitress, they don't care about you, don't come and ask any questions if we need something or how is everything, she gave us a menu, took the order and brought the bill. I've been coveting this place for quite a few. I'm almost certain that there are not many Greek places in Bensonhurst. I usually drive to Bay Ridge or Astoria. I'm feeling like this place deserves 4 stars. I agree that the octopus appetizer was a little salty, however texture was good and once I added some lemon juice I thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe Chef, minimize the salt. The Sauvignon Blanc was a good choice and paired nicely with dinner. We ordered the Porgy and the Red Snapper, both prepared nicely. The baklava cheese cake was an excellent topper. I think our server Carmen really made the evening even more enjoyable! She lit up the whole place. Mixed feelings about the food and service. It used to be our favorite Greek restaurant in Brooklyn. Although we moved to Queens but we still came back if we had a chance. The food was good and solid but the service was average. We ordered so many food that couldn't finish all. So we asked to wrap up the food so that we could save for next day lunch. When we came home and realized that the food didn't pack properly. The dips didn't stored in containers but mixed with the pitas which made the pitas soggy and wet.
