4-stars I have been here a few times. It's clean, has a nice atmosphere, servers were friendly but not over accommodating. The food is good, I found the prices for most of the items to be on the high side. They have a good wine selection, salads, pastas, Greek specialities appetizers, deserts and mains. I am not one that usually talks about the price of a dish although the 2 chicken skewers in platter with fries seemed high at $25 or $26 seems high. The food was good but not the best Greek food I've had. I would recommend them although it you have any wine or liquor with your meal I would say your bill will be north of $150 for two people. read more

A relatively small restaurant with tight seating. The service could have been better, our waiter took his time with coming over. Didn't check to see if everything was good or if we needed anything else, we had to get his attention. I had the chicken sandwich which was tasty, but in no way a sandwich. It was a very small piece of pita with a big serving of chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & tzatziki sauce so you couldn't pick it up to eat like a sandwich. Went for an early New Year's Eve dinner with some friends last night. Everything was amazing from the food to the service. The garlic dip and the zucchini chips were delicious- but the octopus was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. For my entree, I had the lamb gyro platter with lemon potatoes. also delicious. The loukoumades with honey and cinnamon were the perfect dessert to end the meal. The waitstaff was top notch - friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Will definitely be back!! read more

Meze is a relic of the Greek restaurants that I have come to expect. A loud, friendly atmosphere, exceptional food, exorbitant portion sizes (and prices, but that is to be expected), and an overall positive well being threatening to destroy the balance between man and mind. The restaurant is about a ten minute walk from the 62nd Street/New Utrecht Ave subway station on the D and N lines, which is good because you will have to walk this off when you are finished. I ordered plenty of food here, and do not regret any of it. I am hoping to return again and get more, because it is all remarkable. My server, Emilio, is a true spark plug. He is full of energy and charisma. As I was winding down with my food, he was still at top speed and form. He was ready for me and anticipated my every move. Wanna know what I ordered? Grape leaves: Ten to an order, way too many to a fault, but I am not complaining. They were fresh, delicious, delicate, and well balanced. I also played these well with the free bread that comes with your table. A must for any large party. Greek sausage: When every table is ordering these, I have to as well. The sausage has great flavor, a perfect size for an appetizer. The dipping sauce is first rate, and I powered through these like a champ. A great complement to the grape leaves. The grape leaves even set these up pretty well. Grilled Octopus: My oh my, the octopus is outstanding. It is HUGE! I cut this up to make it more manageable and I still could not finish it. This is no laughing matter. I thought I would inhale this thing but instead this came back on the attack. Overall the octopus and I came to an agreement to leave some of it alone. Veal Youvetsi: It started out rough, but gained traction as the dish cooked. It was as if the dish was still cooking in its own sauce as I was eating it. The dish is served with crumbled cheese, but it needs a different kind of cheese. The orzo is a little overcooked but is still pretty tasty. The veal is a bit dry, but overall has a nice earthy texture and taste to the dish that feels heavy. This would be great in winter. The dish reminds me of an Ossobuco, with no marrow. I savored it all with a glass of Pinot Noir, which goes well with all the savory dishes due its subtle sweetness. When I was finished, I said to Emilio, "I think I did I good job considering the circumstances." "You did great," he responded. But I am not done. I figured to end on a high note and order a dessert. I got the loukoumádes, or honey balls, in Greek. Six to an order, they are super sweet, and super delicious. I only ate three because I would be in Maimonides Hospital if I ate them all. Perhaps it could have used a bit of pistachio topping to offset the sweetness a little, but I got an apple juice in hopes of mitigating things and it did just that. After that, I was finished. Sure, the bill is high, but I had to give this restaurant a fair shake; they gave me more than it's just due in return. I was treated not just as a customer, I was treated as family. That is what Greek restaurants are all about and what they should represent. read more

Came in here with a friend on a weekday. We got the Baked Clams, Steak, and the tzatziki with flatbread. My favorite were the baked clams! 4.5/5; it was easy to eat, very fresh, and delicious! This restaurant is great for dining in, and now also for takeout. I've ordered several times since my last review. I'm glad I gave them another chance because their food really is great Greek food. Their spinach pie and feta pie are my favorites. I regularly order their tomato salad w feta and cucumber, and the Greek strips that come with scallions and feta. Tonight I ordered through Yelp and the settings were set to pick up for some reason. I called 15 minutes before closing and they sent my food right over. Very thankful. read more

Meze has been in my rotation for about 10 years and one of the gold standards for Greek cuisine. Go to has consistently been the lamb gyro plate (enough for 2) grilled octopus (consistently succulent and one of my all time favorites) and grilled chicken strips (surprisingly very taste given less fan fare and is complemented by a delicious Greek dressing). The restaurant itself is also very pleasant and decor provides a comforting Greek atmosphere. Quick service negates the frustrating parking situation but overall Meze continues to deliver 10 years after first visit and dozens of trips thereafter. read more

Visited Meze for the first time with my husband on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm. It wasn't very packed yet, only about 2 other tables at that time. We started out with some appetizers. We ordered the Garlic Dip and the Blue Claw Crab Cakes. The crab cakes were tasty with the side of sauces. For entrees, we ordered the Lamb gyro platter which came with fries, salad, pita and the tzatziki and a chicken gyro sandwich. The platter is a LOT of food so it was well worth the $22! Loved the food at Meze recently. We're used to traveling all the way to Astoria for some Greek food but this spot is very comparable. The seafood is fresh and the chicken/lamb souvlaki is incredibly tasty. Highly recommend the grilled octopus. The portion sizes are very generous which is great for sharing. Recommend reservations even for small parties, because on a Tuesday night, this place PACKS up. We had a reservation. By 7pm, not a single table was available. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Quick service. The portions are massive for a reasonable price. Everyone takes home leftover bags. Great for sharing. Or for ensuring you have leftover lunch the next day. $13 halloumi appetizer was meh. Good portion, but it was barely warm, even after we asked it to be reheated in the oven again. Halloumi is best served pipping hot, which this dish was not. $17 moussaka was underwhelming. A huge slice, served with some tossed salad. Moussaka was dry and bland. Requires a looooot of seasoning. Skip. $17 gyro plate was ginormous. Enough to burst your stomach. Everything was delicious, so I'd get this again. My first time dining at Meze, and it was nothing special. The dining room was the typical clichéd Greek Taverna. I ordered Grilled Calamari and it was rubbery, but tasty. It was covered in an oil slick, I might add. I will give them another try. read more

Meze sits on an unassuming street corner on an avenue that sporadically has restaurants. There is outdoor dining available, though the tables are not spaced 6 feet apart. At least they have sanitizer inside the entrance. I've always got to get my Greek food fix, so that's why I've been going to Meze. Another reason is really the speed of food preparation. A different Greek restaurant I called said it would take 45-50 minutes to be ready. Meze, however, has been usually 20-25 minutes. What has been ordered thus far: - Lamb Gyro Platter - Pork Souvlaki Platter - Chicken Souvlaki Platter - Fried Calamari The Greek fries that come with a platter--unless you ask for double salad instead--I actually really enjoy. They taste great with feta! You have to try to eat them as soon as you get the meal or else it'll succumb to the liquids seeping from the salad. I'm not a huge fan of the chicken souvlaki; it tastes quite dry. The pork, on the other hand, is SUPER juicy. I would rate it 10/10 except that both souvlaki orders arrive kind of burnt. Also, for some reason, the chicken souvlaki platter comes with 4 skewers, but the pork only 2 (see photo). The lamb gyro platter is a solid choice. Lots of spices and flavor. Now the fried calamari is outrageously $16.95!! More expensive than the souvlaki platters, which are $15.95. The gyro is $9.95. I thought for such a high price, there would be a ton of calamari, but not at all (see photo). read more

This is not a place to get a quick gyro and be on your way... however their gyro meat is the best I've tried in Brooklyn, so I do get a gyro platter every time I go. The grilled octopus is perfectly cooked and seasoned. They are very generous with their tzatziki sauce when it comes with your meal. The restaurant itself is cute and the ambience on the weekend is lively, but very quiet during the week. The staff is very helpful with their wine pairings and food recommendations. Ambiance of the restaurant is pretty loud. They use paper table coverings. Food wise like all the reviews say portions are pretty large but it does correspond with the price. Quality of the food was pretty fair-good. Taziki dip was very good and refreshing. Moussakka was a bit dry. The server was pretty attentive even though the restaurant was busy. We started with the feta dip mashed with tomatoes, red onion & parsley& ladled it onto the warm pita triangles that came with it-totally delicious! I had the sausage plate & my wife, the lamb chops with spinach, both soooo good. We shared a wonderful rice pudding dessert, with honey & nuts, & a cappuccino. Great ending to a perfect dinner. This place is decent and the location is really awesome and actually very cute and it's great that they have been there so long and survived but please beware of ordering the octopus appetiser. It is not listed on the menu and there is no price listed or at least I can tell you that there is no price listed where they pull the old " market price" trick. When I got the bill it was total sticker shock costing nearly $30 for the appetiser which I can assure you was only two legs which is again totally unacceptable. I was a manager of a Greek restaurant and we served an actual octopus appetiser for $18 which had more portion than this and also the octopus dinner on tray which was four legs with soup or salad and a side dish for 27$ Please be very careful and do not be ashamed to ask the price before you order read more

Came to Meze for the 1st time. Place was packed, however, there is no other restaurants around that area, you have to walk block or 2. Looks fancy. Ordered just appetizers and one of them was Crab cake. Let me tell you we tasted only salt. DONT ORDER IT, unless you like eating salt. It wasn't good at all I give 1 star for presentation. Caviar spread was really salty as well but I guess it supposed to be salty. Service was really good. I gave 3 stars just for service, food no. I won't go there again. read more
