A strong four. Good variety on the menu. Mimosas are on point. It's small. So if you're coming with the fam then expect a wait. If it's you and Bae then expect a wait. Not a lot of two tops either. Food came out fairly quickly. Well seasoned. You'll see pepper in the pics because we like pepper. Meatloaf was very tasty. Not your Granny's but above average for sure. Bae had the chicken. Been eating here alot but something was off today. The server shaun was very rude, made a mistake on out order, did not refill our drinks until we asked him. Additionally he tossed the food on the table and not apologiizing. When it came to paying the bill he knew he made a mistake on the order but still pretended he didnt know. I had their fried chicken for the first time with mash potatoes and string beans. The chicken was a bit oily and didn't taste clean. The chicken came out hot so that was great. The string beans were a bit tuff but the mash potatoes with gravy was good. I rather have a basic beef gravy without the herb taste. My dad loved his bbq hamburger. And as always the wait staff are always so helpful and attentive to tables. McKayla was excellent.Women's bathroom was messier than usual. Are seating was clean. May need new leather seats soon. I wanted to get a slice of cake but did not have any other than chocolate so i didn't get any dessert but i went and ordered fried chicken sandwich with fries and it's very delicious big and juicy. Chicken was hot and juicy,vegetables were nicely seasoned and bread was fluffy .The issue was in service Not sure if Rachel is new but she passed by us standing at the front door ,went to take a order and then sat us at a table.Took our order,never checked back until we were almost done.We had to ask another waitress for what we needed She finally emerged when it was time to pay.The bathroom was disgustingly diryt,no paper towels and toilet paper and water all around the stool. love the food but the service and cleanliness needs to vastly improve!!! read more

My wife and I were visiting the area from California. On a restaurant suggestion, by a lady working at the Courtyard Marriott in Greenbrier, told us to try the Metro Diner. So glad we did. We had Tina as our server and she was awesome. She made the visit even better. Definitely recommend this local restaurant. Good food, nice atmosphere and great enthusiastic servers. While complimenting Tina to the manager, Willoughby...he too was great to chat with. My wife and I will be back. We come to here often when we need a quick meal before starting the day. The servers here are friendly, especially Cheyenne.

Food omg/ omgoodness...The food was EVERYTHING...The chicken was hot, juicy, favortown and fresh!! Waffles was delicious too with that strawberry butter! Hmmmmm. The omelet was OK.... my husband said, it should have came with some bell peppers and onions. OR SOME SALSA....The omelet ONLY came with 3 meats and cheese only.. Ok so today was our first time here. We checkin and put our name on the waiting list. Stayed in our vehicle until we got our phone call. The wait was about 25 mins but it was packed so that's not bad. I feel they truly exercised the space nicely. It's not tiny being bigger than most waffle house establishments with indoor and covered outdoor seating. The music was very diverse play via the surround sound. At moments it did get a touch loud but it was mostly the background noise of families and friends enjoying their meal with conversation. My husband an I both ordered the fried chicken and waffle meal. We asked for it to be well done which they obliged nicely. The strawberry butter I was skeptical about so I asked for it on the side. Must say it was rather tasty in small doses. We got our daughter the kids pancakes which she enjoyed as well. For drinks we had apple juice for the youngin, almer palmers for us and I partook in a cranberry pineapple mimosa. The fried chicken was delicious, fried ro perfection not burnt but nice golden brown crunch and juicy an seasoned. That's four pieces of chicken too (1Breast, 1Wing, 1Thigh and 1Drumbstick) I am full and content. The staff was super friendly and the establishment was really clean. I loved the diversity of the families coming to dine. We saw a lot of eye catching things on the menu so we shall be back. Staff was awesome! My coffee cup was never empty! They have indoor and outdoor seating area. They have pick up and to go orders as well. And plenty of parking area too! I ordered the fried chicken Benedict and it was delicious! That hollandaise sauce left me wanting more! Now my husband ordered the meat lovers omelette and it was mediocre. Unless you're just a meat and egg kind of guy. There was no onions, no peppers...not sure if they even had cheese in it. Lol. But first, Metro Diner is a cozy spot with comfortable booths, a big specials board, and everything else one might want in a diner. Shrimp and corn chowder was quite nice. The fish was nice, but the oil might have been a little too hot, with dry and slightly over cooked fringes and a slightly soggy center. Given the ample portion, expertly frying these would be quite a feat to master. Broccoli was excellent. Service left me waiting after seating. Nearly empty restaurant with plenty of help, so that's a bit of a knock, otherwise friendly, prompt, and helpful. I found prices a great value for all that is offered. I have ate at several metro diners and the shrimp and grits are something that I always get. Have ate at ones in Delaware, Tennessee, South Carolina and this location. I have to say this is the worst tasting shrimp and grits I have had. The grits were not fully cooked and they were watery and flavorless. Typical diner food. Th restaurant was clean. Bathrooms need some attention like air freshener and the urinal did not have water to flush thus the smell. All in all it was good dining experience. Came here for brunch and I'm happy to report that it's one of the only places in the Virginia Beach area that isn't super slammed on weekends with a two hour wait! We were sat immediately and our server was super attentive. I think she filled my coffee four or five times! The food was typical brunchy food, I really enjoyed the steak and hash browns bowl that I got. They also had a couple seasonal cocktails, like an apple pie mimosa. Drool... Went here for a late lunch just after the lunch crowd thinned out. Place was still a little busy but were seated promptly. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I have had it a couple of times in different parts of the country and thought it was just ok. Here if was delicious and very savory. You get a lot of chicken with your order. I took home a piece because you get almost one-half a chicken. The combination is perfect. Order an extra side of their house butter for the waffle. Chicken was both crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I would definitely come here again for this. Service was pretty good for how busy they were.
