    Chicken ramen.
    Paula K.

I am not experienced with ramen, but went here to meet some friends at their recommendation. I had a bowl of ramen that was chicken broth based, with sliced chicken, a soft boiled egg that was seasoned, some mushroom-like slices, and a large sheet of seaweed that melted into the rich and delicious broth. This bowl was comforting and satisfying, with depth of flavours and textures. I would definitely come here again.

Stopped by for lunch and it was busy! The space is small but they manage to fit quite a few tables inside. We were seated right away and service was pretty quick. I had the shio ramen which has a clear chicken broth. The noodles were thick and bad a good chew. The broth was clean and flavourful. The chicken was tender and it was a solid bowl of ramen. The tonkotsu was richer in flavour but didn't feel heavy. Overall it was a satisfying lunch for this colder weather. Honestly this is probably one of my favourite ramens, and I should definitely stop by more often!

Cute little ramen place that feels like you're in Japan. I and the spicy tonkatsu with egg and it really hit the spot! Delicious noodles and broth. The seating and lanterns really made you feel Like you're like in Japan. The servers are so friendly. This is one of my fave ramen spots in vancouver.

I was blessed by one of the best bowls of ramen you can find in Vancouver at this amazing creation by Raijin Ramen. It was only luck that introduced me to Raijin Ramen and it was luck again that helped me find Menya Raizo. The tonkotsu ramen was so good! A subtle pork based soup with toppings that all together with the soft and melty cuts of pork made this one of the best ramen experiences I could ever have. I loved the use if ginger as a topping in this bowl and can't wait to go back to try more items in their menu. You can expect a great Japanese hospitality at Menya which makes service classic and top notch. I took some photos from interior and exterior of the shop as the styles one of my favorite.

Cute and small Ramen shop right off of Broadway. Came here for a quick afternoon meal as I was craving Ramen and my friend also wanted a small snack. The service was friendly and quick, and I was satisfied by what I ordered. Although I would say there's better Ramen in Vancouver, for the affordable price, this is worth a visit if you're hungry and in the area.

The whole area is under construction so parking is horrible around here. Service was good and the restaurant had a good vibe to it. It was the standard bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth had character, can definitely tell it's been boiling long. The noodles tasted/ felt like it was made in-house. Chasu was good as well. Overall, a good bowl of ramen!

We came here around 11:30am on Sunday. We got a table right away. It was not too busy. Servers who are Japanese greeted us at the door and they were very friendly. We reviewed menus and looked at ingredients and then we selected our choices on a piece of paper by circling all the items that we wanted. The sheet of paper or menu was very self explanatory. After we made our selections, one of the servers confirmed our choices and placed an order for us. The ramen came out quickly. We tried the soup base and had a first bite of the ramen and ingredients. Everything was very good. We decided to have a coffee elsewhere otherwise we would have tried one of their desserts. The desserts looked delicious listed on the menu. The most interesting thing was a sign on a wall. It asked customers to be seated while the washroom was occupied. The servers would let the customers know when the washroom was vacant me.

Had the Cha Shu Hakata Tonkotsu and the Gyokai Tonkotsu. Great and tasty Ramen at Menya Raizo on the corner of Yukon and W Broadway. This place is clean, friendly and fast. Very close to the Canada Line Station. Would definitely be back.

Vegan Curry Rice (mini) + Spicy Menma

Cool place, the interior design blends traditional aesthetics with some local elements. The hanging lanterns added really nice ambiance. Besides just ramen, the menu features some interesting seasonal side dishes, desserts, and cocktails. You order by circling the items you want on a sheet and handing it to your waiter. I did not try the ramen but instead got some sides to put together a lighter meal. I got the mini vegan curry rice and spicy menma; both were very enjoyable. The curry had the unique hearty sweetness of Japanese curry, the bamboo shoots had a little bit of a kick but were more "vegetal" than extremely hot - just enough heat to be invigorating. The vegetable sides would be a good size to add onto a bowl of ramen, not too big, I finished with a matcha sundae. The red bean mochi taiyaki in the sundae seemed like it was freshly fried and the texture was so good with the crispy crust and chewy mochi. The matcha ice cream was pretty good too, so it was a good sundae. The pricing was pretty fair. I would love to come back here and try the ramen!

It was a chilly late afternoon, after I visited a dental clinic with my family members I walked along the Broadway and found this ramen restaurant. The interior and vibe was warm and authentic. There were some pictures of the old Vancouver times hanging on the wall. We were hungry so we ordered the Takoyaki and ramen. Like many Japanese-owned restaurant they served with passion and observed the details (so do I observed they observed it, haha). Without a long wait they served the Takoyaki first. As there were three of us I found they gave us one extra takoyaki (total 6 pieces) so we could share them evenly. I really appreciated that. They were hot and very tasty that we finished them within a few minutes. Then the ramen, exceeded my expectation. I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen, Yuzu Shio Ramen for my wife and Gyokai Tonkotsu shoyu ramen for my daughter. They all tasted fantastic and especially the Yuzu Shio Ramen did surprised me when my wife let me try it. The balance of the yuzu taste with the Shio soup base was perfect. Previously I tried another ramen restaurant for the same ramen the bitter taste of the yuzu ruined everything. So this is the extra bonus for Raizo. We felt like having desserts after the ramen so we order the parfait and sundae. They were both nicely made and tasted yummy. They made it a fantastic finale for our meal. It was a wonderful journey for my taste buds. I'd highly recommend this ramen restaurant.

Spicy Hakata tonkotsu ramen with thin noodles

I was craving for some noodles while driving down Broadway, and stumbled into this ramen place. It's a very small but cozy restaurant, which traditional Japanese decor and service. After sitting down, the host / server gave me a paper menu to select my choice of ramen and toppings. To be honest, it was confusing with different pork broth selection. After choosing the ramen, I learnt that I made a mistake from the server, and she helped to correct it. When she asked if I wanted something to drink, I said just water is fine. She gave me a look, which made me wonder if I should have ordered something to drink...but I really just wanted some ramen, is that okay?! I ordered spicy Hakata tonkotsu ramen, and it came with thin noodles, which is different than what I thought. The bowl came super fast, within 5 minutes after placing the order. The noodle was not completely cooked, you can still see the white part, instead of being translucent. I took a bite, and it proofed my suspicion. It was a bit chewy and I can still taste the flour in the noodles. Maybe that's their style? I wouldn't know as it was my first time visit. I did like the flavor of the broth, and it's pretty spicy for a Japanese ramen place. I'm not sure how busy it gets during lunch or dinner, but I saw some Japanese customers while I was there, and they seem to enjoy the food. If you are in the neighborhood, Feel free to drop by, and try not to drive as parking can be hectic with the ongoing constructions. I'm not sure if I will go back, but if I do, I'll make sure to ask them to cook my noodles to my liking.

Oh, how rainy and cold Vancouver nights make me crave ramen! Menya is one of my go-to's; dependable, delicious, cozy and unique. I love their Spicy Veggie Miso Ramen. It's not crazy spicy, a good medium heat for me. Their noodles are delicious and chewy and filling! The staff are fabulous; sweet, kind and attentive. Their interior is so unique with tin roof decor to resemble a traditional ramen shop. I love the layout and design. Authentic and unique, not huge maybe 12-14 tables.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

Unlike many ramen spots that rely on a heavy tonkotsu (pork) broth, Maruhachi stands out by using a creamy chicken broth. It's hearty yet balanced and surprisingly light. I also loved that they offer side sauces so you can adjust the saltiness to your preference. The spice had a perfect kick -- more of a warming, throat spice that builds without overpowering the broth. The pork was incredibly tender, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked perfectly, with a rich, creamy yolk that was full of flavor. My fiance got the Pork Chashu bowl which she said was so full of flavor, she also was adding the broth from my ramen in it to add some more warmth and flavor to the bowl. The spot itself is small but very unique, and I love how they stay true to tradition. Service was good -- nothing over the top -- but efficient and fast. The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though.
