On our beach vacation, we visited Mellow Mushroom in St. Augustine and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Initially, I was skeptical about dining here, but the quality of the food, particularly the Veg Out pizza, exceeded my expectations. The Veg Out pizza, with its mellow red sauce, mozzarella, spinach, green peppers, sliced mushrooms, sweet onions, black olives, and Roma tomatoes, was delicious. The medium size was perfect, and at 260 calories per slice, it felt like a healthier option compared to typical pizzas. What truly impressed me was that it wasn't greasy at all, which is often a concern with veggie pizzas. Each bite was bursting with fresh flavours, and the combination of toppings worked wonderfully together. As an appetizer, we tried the Spinach Artichoke Dip, and it was a fantastic start to our meal. If you want to spend that much on Pizza, go to Pizza time. I paid the $25 for an ok Pizza. Not sure what all the hype was when it first opened. It was way to loud in there, maybe they are trying to be a sports bar. Yes they have exotic pizza, but not impressed. Had the quality of Dominos Pizza. Yes, I said it. This location of Mellow Mushroom does not have the same charm as the one in JAX Beach, but it will suffice in a pinch. The pizza is expensive but it is original and that's what costs. I recommend the Red skin potato, Mega Veggie, and Holy Shitake pizzas. read more
