12/27/18 Update: If you have a problem here the problem is with you. Just go with the system and let the professionals do their work. Very satisfied with another interaction. I was extremely satisfied with the cost and quality of the work. Because the shop is very busy, there is a procedure that has to be followed. Call to schedule an estimate, get the estimate, then return to the shop at the time that was scheduled (at the time of the estimate) to get your car repaired. On the plus side, they seem to stick to the schedule. No large, reputable auto body shop is going to let you drop off your car at a moment's notice and get to work on it immediately. There is an enterprise car rental nearby (Hyattsville) that will pick up and dropoff. read more

Thank you Melvio!! I greatly appreciated the professionalism and generosity you displayed when I came to you for an estimate to repair the damage my car had sustained. You looked at the issues I pointed out and because of your experience were able to fix them on the spot using just your hands. Impressive!! You were able to adjust and manipulate each point of displacement back to normal in a matter of minutes. When you told me these adjustments were "freebies" I was astounded! I was fully expecting to pay for any services provided and even offered to pay "something" as you had returned my car to its original status. You declined. Wow! Nothing left to say except. Thank you being you. read more

As I previously opined, this is such a good, honest place to do business with. They really follow the family, fair priced business accumen of yore. I called and asked how much would replacing my headlight bulb be (my own attempts to remove it from its housing was futile). The recpetionist spoke briefly with one of the mechanics. He said bring it in, we'll see. I came over and in under 20 minutes, it was in and I was on my way all for no charge. Happy all around. read more

Mr John and his team have done several jobs for me, all which have been exceptional and reasonably priced. I've recommended several others to this shop and will continue to do so. read more

This is a horrible auto body. Brought my car in for collision repair I'd December and manager Joh greater me told me he would order parts but they are back logged. So I went in in FEB. John the owner and manager. No record of order even though he told me several times they are ordered.. parts. He said just wait.. but now they cant find my order. I took it to gerber o body in Laurel they got parts in ONE week. Terrible place they changed their name now same terrible people. Don't use... read more

Had a major accident, My insurance co referred me to this autobody shop. I told this shop owner my car was totalled. The whole rear half of my car was smashed in. But no, he nickeled and dimed the repairs to be less at first and substantially increased the amount of repairs to a whopping $18,134! Mind you my car b4 the accident was worth $15,000. He didn't total it, so HE could make the money. Now, I'm extremely upside down with my lender ($14,000). He should've TOTALED it! He got over! Ripped off! read more

Came here the other day after someone hit my car and left a sizable dent in my bumper. In less than ten minutes the good folks here popped out the dent and left it looking like new free of charge! These guys are great honest people. Would definitely come back. Highly recommended! read more

They are very professional, careful, timely, kind and will fix if possible BA replace which is a huge cost savings.

Great service! Timely repair and got my Jeep back on the road quick after my car window was smashed in. It's a little hidden, but a great spot to repair your ride! Thanks McDonald Auto read more

This business provided the best customer service I have ever experienced. He's very accommodating, responsive and provides sufficient updates! read more

Ask for John! He is the best. They fixed my mother's car and gave me a free estimate on a recent fender bender.

Ive taken my car here numerous times. Geico wanted me to use a shop they use but the wait was too long. Called McDonald and they were able to get me my car back quicker in fact in a couple of days. The work is quality the staff is great. My family has used them a number of times the work is always great and the service is always quick. Its my go to for all of our families auto body needs. read more

my experience was horrible! I have never been more disrespected. The guy was really rude on the phone and very hostile when I came to pick up my car. He actually got in my face in hopes that I would knock him out and get locked up smh. He gave me prejudice vibes and he also lied several times to try and get me locked up. He is now holding my car hostage for an extra week for no reason at all. I would not recommend this auto body shop. read more

Cannot recommend this shop enough-- quick, professional, helpful, affordable, communicative. Instead of trying to tack on additional costs, charges and services, they saved me money! Would 10/10 return & recommend. read more

I've taken multiple cars to McDonalds for repair and have been satisfied each and every time. The estimates are accurate and fair and the work is impeccable. The customer service has always been great to me so I'm not sure what some of these other reviews are talking about, they even send a Thank You card after the service, which is always appreciated. I wouldn't take my cars anywhere else. read more

McDonald Auto Body is a class act. The owner/manager is extremely nice and will greet you personally, shake your hand, and ask how he can help you. Their assessment of the damage to my car was very fair and the price was so good I dropped it off on the spot without bothering to get a second opinion. The work (minor body damage) was done in 3 days. They were more than willing to work with my insurance. The whole experience was as painless as car repair can be. A month later, I get a handwritten card from them in the mail, informing me that they enjoyed having my business and hoped I'd keep them in mind in the future. There is no reason to take your vehicle anywhere else in the Hyattsville area for body damage. read more

I got in a car accident. McDonald Auto Body was recommended to us by our repair place - they also work with State Farm. The owner was highly empathetic, gave us great advice, caring attention, clear communication, and took lots of time for us - in a crappy situation, the incredible service was a joy to encounter. Just got my car back - looks great. They put in a lot of work communicating with State Farm, ordering the right parts, cleaning the car, etc. We highly recommend this excellent business. read more

I went to McDonald this morning to get an estimate on my car and received horrible customer service. The gentleman who did my estimate first lectured me about being informed regarding the process of obtaining an estimate for your insurance. He never asked if I was informed about the process or what my plans were. I was more than informed about the process, but I allowed him to finish his rant. I then told him that I would be paying for my car out of pocket, and that I would like my estimate, so I can have my car repaired within the week. He was unprofessional and I felt insulted that he assumed I was walking in without having done my research. I'm sure they do excellent work based on the reviews, but the treatment I received when I walked in the door was unacceptable. read more

There is nothing like being in a stressful situation and being left completely at ease at the end of it all. My car was hit in front of my home and looked (to me) to be totaled. I've worked just down the road from this body shop and despite the shop USAA recommended I brought my vehicle here. And ultimately, I made the best decision I could have for my car. John at McDonald Auto Body is really an honest hard working guy. He eased my stress over the damages to my car and he kept my updated on a weekly basis for the repairs. What blew me out of the water was that when I got my policy max for the rental he paid for the additional days that USAA would not cover! When I got my car back it looked like I'd just driven it off the lot! The staff here do excellent work and I have recommended them to all of my clients! read more

McDonald Auto Body was the best part of getting hit. On top of being quickly able to fit our repair in and fantastic with communication, they were also extremely helpful! They repaired other vandalism and minor scratches for minor cost. I had a few problems with my insurance company and the rental company. They contacted each and sorted things out. I had a fabulous experience. read more

This has to be the worst auto body repair place on the east coast. If your insurance company ask you to go there tell them to send you some where else. Please listen to me you don't want to go here read more

I found this garage to be honest, helpful and professional. I would definitely go back.

This was our second visit to McDonald Auto Body. The quality of their work is top notch. The owner provides friendly personalized service and goes above and beyond to ensure that we are happy with the work. It is a bonus that they are a State Farm insurance approved partner so the process is efficient and carefree. If you need high quality auto body service I highly recommend McDonald Auto Body! read more

On a nice Monday morning, I had stopped at a traffic light as I was driving on my way to work. Suddenly, I felt my car violently jerk forward - alas, I was rear-ended! I went to one body shop and was told it would cost almost $1,000 in repairs. The insurance company recommended McDonald Auto Body. The initial estimate they provided was about $500. So, one Tuesday morning I took my car to the shop, completed the paperwork and dropped the car off. They called the rental company for me and I was on my way. Two days later, the body shop called me letting me know that my car was fixed. The bill came to about $600 which was still cheaper than the first body shop's estimate. Even though the insurance company was paying, I really appreciated the body shop's honestly. What a nice nice surprise when I noticed they had also detailed and washed my car! read more

I've used this location twice with in a few months. Both times i got rear ended, both separate occasions. Each time, John was accurate with his estimate ( on cost and possible additional cost and est time. Etc, i love it when i know what to expect so i can plan accordingly, esp since my 2nd trip here was out of pocket, so i had to plan my transportation accordingly ) The first time was through insurance and i picked this location on my own, not through a recommendation. They staff was polite. My car was proper after the work was completed both times. There wasnt over spray on my car etc. The car was vacuumed and washed both times. read more

These people go the extra mile with their customers. We had a bus impact us at a stop sign and were fortunate enough to get referred to this shop. They left our repaired car impeccable. It looks just like new! And, not just that, John Brady and all of his staff helped us in innumerous ways to get to where we needed, to get other repairs for our car. They did good on their warranty and they always were truly cheerful about everything. These guys are awesome! Don't go anywhere else. read more

John Brady is truly a man of integrity. I was in my first car accident after being buying my first car. I could have easily been fooled! However, he was honest in his business dealings. The work, of high quality and workmanship, was completed under budget and under schedule. I am extremely happy with the outcome. I hope to never need his service again but if I am in another accident I would return for a second time. read more

GREAT BUSINESS ! I went to McDonald Auto Body to get the tail gate door of my 2011 Chevy Equinox repaired. Within minutes of my arrival someone (I think he was the manager) was giving me an estimate of replacing the entire door which did not surprise me. He told me that he would search the used parts market to see if he could find a good match and depending on the condition of the part estimated the cost would be around $1300. (I was actually thinking it would be more). I didn't waste time filling out forms or leaving my credit card for a deposit. I just left the keys and waited for his call which came about 3 hours later. He had found an exact match, model, year and color. And because the door didn't need to be painted or repaired in anyway, my final bill was half the price. My truck was ready the next day. The customer service and quality of work was outstanding and I would recommend McDonald Auto Body any day. read more

This place is great I had a fender bender and i brought it to them to be repaired they had it done in no time John was great he would call me to keep me updated on my vehicle. When I picked up my vehicle it looked fantastic and when I left they told me to grab a box of girl scout cookies they had on the counter, I was like I should get in to a fender bender more often!! LOL!! read more

I have had multiple cars repaired by McDonald AB over the years. The work is always top notch and the staff is friendly and helpful. Just had our 2011 Lexus worked on after my son rear ended another car. Front end of the Lexus was pretty beat up, but it is all put back together and looks fantastic. Great Job! Would absolutely recommend McDonald AB. read more

Need any car repairs or body work? Don't go anywhere else...McDonald Auto Body is the best you will ever find! The estimates are fair, work is incredible and they took all the hassle out of a hit and run accident. They handled the estimates, towing, everything...all we had to do was give them the keys and and they worked their magic. Our car came back better than new. And don't forget the staff is amazing. Thanks John and Dorothy for a wonderful experience...we won't be going anywhere else in the future. read more

I found and used McDonald Auto Body because of Checkbook.org, cross-checked here on Yelp to make sure it had a solid reputation, and couldn't be happier. John Brady was exceptionally good to deal with, and I came away from it thinking "here's a really honest business person that I can trust." They did a fantastic job with repairing my car, dealing with someone else's insurance company, having the car ready when promised, going the extra mile to buff out a few extra items, and charging me a very fair price. Hoping that I never have to use an auto body again, but if I do, I'll come back to McDonald Auto Body. read more

The absolute best place to take your car. I will never take my car anywhere else. John and every member of his staff will go out of their way to help their customers. I cannot say enough about this body shop, as to how fantastic they were to me. I looked up this shops number to refer it to a friend and saw a negative review. I had to say that I have done business with McDonald Autobody in 2003, 2007 and 2015 and all have been the most positive experiences. My insurance company (Liberty Mutual) first sent me here in 2003, and the other two times I went on my own dime, and the SERVICE was OUTSTANDING..... I made appointments and everything worked out well.........I felt the need to say something because what happened to me was great!!! and I would refer McDonald Autobody Always, with Pleasure. read more

They did an "OK" job. Bare minimum...nothing fancy.

Cannot recommend these guys highly enough! My front bumper was ready to fall off. I made an 8 am appointment for an estimate and arrived 15 minutes late. I was told $800 to replace the whole bumper and make it look new or $80 to re-attach it and make it safe for driving. I was charged $30 and was out of there in under 30 minutes. And ladies...I am a single female. They are honest, competent, fantastic! You cannot go wrong using McDonald Auto Body. read more

Never. Again. This shop was recommended to me by my insurance company, Liberty Mutual. Getting a call back or talking to someone who's authorized to speak with you is like pulling teeth, only without the nitrous. They also seem to measure time in geological terms. The gentleman who ostensibly owns/runs the shop was initially nice, but was so off-putting in subsequent calls that I cannot recommend this shop. read more

Great shop - they kept us updated on the repairs, and went above and beyond by repairing additional damage from an older accident. Repairs look great. Also got a nice customized note in the mail thanking me for choosing them. Customer service is apparently not a lost art. I'm hoping not to need body work again, but if I do, I would gladly be a repeat customer. read more

No one wants to have to deal with an auto body shop. Sometimes you have to do it. This shop came recommended by my insurance which was a plus. They were nice to deal with and explained things well. They even saved me some money. When there was a mix-up with when my car would be ready, and a long weekend before I could get it back they loaned me a car, which was something they didn't have to do, but was the right thing to do. I hope never to need their services again, but I would go back if the need arises. read more
