We've been taking our cars here for years. Are they the cheapest guys in town? No. Are they the fastest guys in town? No. But - they're scrupulously honest and do quality work that they stand behind 100%. We've had them tell us that something another shop told us needed to be fixed actually didn't and found the problem to be something small and inexpensive. Bottom line? I trust them. If they tell me it needs to be fixed, we get it fixed. I'd recommend them to anyone! read more

I took a 13 year old, out of state, ford fiesta in for a Maryland state inspection. I was looking to buy the car off my dad to use as a commuter car but if you know Maryland you know that state inspection can be a hurdle so before I committed to the car I wanted it inspected and passed. The car failed with a belt issue. As far as I know it's the original belt, so for a 13 year old car to only be dinged for a belt I was really happy as I was expecting a laundry list of items to be wrong with the thing. The service advisor even brought the belt out and showed me what was wrong and it was definitely frayed, cracking, and dry rotting. I confirmed I wanted the belt replaced and they said it should be done in a couple hours. For circumstances out of their control that didn't happen (thanks parts store :D) but they quickly offered to valet me to work. They then picked me up at the end of the day to pick up my car. All said I paid roughly 450 for inspection and a new belt which was a big positive for me. As old as the car is I was expecting several items to be out of compliance and had a budget of 1500. As far as if they are above or below cost of other places I don't really know. The belt job may have honestly been a touch higher than I would've wanted but the valet, expediency and general vibe of honesty is worth a premium. I'm not even sure if the price really was "a touch higher", I'm blessed to not spend tons of time at an auto shop getting repairs all the time to really be able to do comparisons on price. I'll definitely be going here from now on as long as I live in the area. I have used BA Auto on several occasions and have always been happy with their work and service. My unfortunate recent encounter with BA has warranted this negative rating along with loss of any future business not because of price or quality of work; but for their handling of an unfortunate issue with a total lack of courtesy, dignity, or respect. I contracted BA Auto to fix several issues I had with my vehicle. Due to unforeseen circumstances the work on my vehicle took 3 months to complete. During that time I had periodic communication with Joe (Service Rep) updating me on progress. Our interactions were professional and cordial. Mid June, Joe contacted me to inform me that the work was finally complete and I could pick up my car. (Friday evening). I informed BA I would pick up the car on Wednesday, my day off, due to my work schedule not coinciding with their hours of operation, I work in Rockville MD. When I picked up my car, I (Repeat that "I") identified a few minutes after paying my $3600 invoice that the rear window on my soft top was disconnected from the top and slightly pushed in. I returned the car within 10 minutes of leaving and reported the issue. I left the car with BA. Joe contacted me and stated, "They had not seen the damage, BA would file an insurance claim, and they would investigate what/how this occurred". I pointed out to Joe and BA that, "This had not been an issue with my car prior, and that whatever happened occurred in the three month time frame my car was in BA's care". Joe assured me, (I want to insure I have his words quoted correctly), "We know this was not an issue when you dropped the car off. Mr._____ don't worry we are going to file the claim, do an investigation, get this resolved, and get your top replaced as quickly as possible". Over a three week time frame, "I" reached out to Joe twice for updates on the insurance claim; our interactions were professional and cordial. Joe informed me that BA had reached out to their insurance company and a sight visit with the inspector had been scheduled. A week later Joe contacted me and left a message, that the insurance company was leaning towards denying the claim, which ultimately they did. I was contacted by Joe, by phone, asking if I had received a letter or call from their insurance company which at that time I had not. The next day, a rep from the insurance company phoned me to say, "We have researched and found that the issue with the rear window is evidently a not un-common occurrence with your year, model, and make. We are denying the claim". That's at! (I still have not received a letter) Here is my issue above and beyond the issue with the car. After the call from the insurance company. (I was on vacation, 3 states away when this call occurred)... I received a call from a gentleman at BA who asked me, "Did the insurance company call me?". "When will you pick up your car?". On Monday I received a second call from a different young lady who asked, "When do you plan to pick up your car?". Where's Joe? What happened to, 'Mr. ____ don't worry, we are going to fix this?". I contacted BA on Tuesday to say, "Since it is supposed to rain today, I will pick up my car on Wednesday, as I cannot drive it due to the window, when the weather is bad. I had my son drive me to BA yesterday, told him what was going on and that I wanted him to see an example of how you communicate to people, professionally, even when you may disagree with an outcome. I went to the desk, informed BA that I was there. The attendant went in back to inform someone. A service rep, went to the bay, drove my car to the front, got out and said, "Have a nice day!" 1) Where is Joe? 2) How about I am sorry this has occurred and for the decisions that had to be made? 3) Why not from the insurance company or BA, "We looked at 3 months worth of video footage and see no evidence that someone in BA caused this? NOT THAT WE APPARENTLY, DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND IT HAS HAPPENED TO SOMEONE BEFORE...(BA, seems to be under the impression that would be a sufficient answer for me, ITS NOT!) 4) How about, I know our rep committed to you that BA would make this right, but due to our extensive investigation we are going to have to change what we said. 5) Maybe even this, "We have explained to our Rep that statements such as that are preemptive and he should not do that in the future"...but since he did, we are going to stand by what was said?" Instead I get to say, "Son, here is an example of how you treat someone you have "NO" "Courtesy, Dignity, or Respect" for. Although I paid my bill in full, did not complain about the time it took to repair, and they made a profit in this transaction, off of this customer... A Marine friend recommended BA Auto Care. He has been a customer for years. He is also an engineer, so he is hard to impress when it comes to mechanic services. If you get his endorsement, then BA Auto Care is clearly doing things right. BA Auto Care did a wonderful job servicing my 2016 Fiat 500X Trekker. "Fi Fi" has not been treated well since Safford stopped selling Fiats. BA Auto Care allocated one technician for one full day to conduct detailed evaluation of my vehicle. They gave me a detailed breakdown of all the work needed/recommended, using a phased approach that prioritizes the work to make the repairs more affordable for me. The first phase of work occurred in late January 2025 and included repairs needed to a vehicle almost 10 years old with mileage over 110K. It was the largest. The next phase will out the vehicle back in tip top shape. All through the process, the Service Manager called and sent me emails to keep me informed. I experienced no delay due to parts as BA Auto has relationships with multiple vendors who provide parts fast that others cannot without extreme delays if at all. Repairs were completed on time, and the payment by phone and lock box made picking up my car convenient for me. Since then, I have called BA Auto Care to ask questions about feedback another shop provided. They took the time to explain, educating me on timing and context of repairs. BA Auto Care is now my shop of choice. No one else will be touching my Fiat. read more

I own a 2008 BMW 335i with 220,000 miles and am tired of the games played by my local BMW dealer in Sterling, VA. BA was recommended to me by a trusted colleague and although I live in Reston, VA,I traveled the hour and a half to have work the dealer screwed up. BA Auto Care from 7/22/2022-7/26/2022 chopped up my 2009 Jajuar XJ8. The owners took my like new Jaguar Rims and my like new Jaguar Drive Shift Console that I could see were switched for damaged parts. They left black grease or tire dust finger smudges in the trunk as they split my trunk liner. They wrote that battery cables and battery were bad but when the USAA Insurance company took pictures there was no bad cables and the battery still appeared new. They also switched my time on my spare tire. I purchased my automobile from CarMax like brand new with about 44K miles in 2013. Today it has 59310 miles. I thought BA Auto Care was the best British Auto repair for check Engine Light other than the cost of the Jag Dealer Service dept in North Bethesda MD. I was trying to save money. BA Auto only charged me $350 to correct the Engine Light problem. I really do not really trust the fix other than my automobile passed the DC Emissions on 8/2/2022. Beware of BA Auto Care on 9577 Berger Road in Columbia MD. Oh by the way I am a senior citizen and BA Auto Care canibalized my automobile. When I reported this to the wife of the owner she had a reason for everything. I became upset and said there my be a crazy person working for you as I was so offended that she talked down to me and walked away citing that I was raising my voice and angry. The owners have done nothing to address my claim of them chopping up my auto for the expensive rims and the $4k replacement of the drive shift console which the switched the stolen console was switched with one where the S button and Traction button were sticky and tacky with black something and the chrome trim was peeled. Yes my 19 inch tire rims are polished chrome in perfect condition with no visible marks or scratches. To replace just one is $1,400 with the Jaguar emblem. This entire theft is crazy that a company would take advantage of a 74 year old black woman who trusted them based upon their awards and recognition to include reviews. I even spoken to the company three times before making an appointment for 7/22/2022. On that day the first question Mike the service advisor asked was how long have you had this . I set up an appointment online and used a coupon I found on Yelp. The next day during business hours I was given a call by a staff member. The man politely discussed the issues I was having with my car (I needed new headlights & my rear tire was slowly leaking). He then gave me an estimate of the costs. I really appreciated this call because it ensured that my online appointment request went through and that I had an idea of what I would be paying. The appearance of the shop is super strange, but in a good way! I walk into the waiting area and it looks like a doctors office. Very clean, a kids area w/ books and toys, and free coffee and tea. The lady at the front desk was attentive and polite. The wait and the cost is what ruined it for me. It turned out my tires couldn't be patched due to the location of the nail which was okay. But I didn't really think it would take over an hour to replace headlights and assess my tires. Additionally, they charged me for a full hour of labor (their rate is $34/ 30 min). Pretty sad because I looked through the window several times and there was a solid 15-25 minutes that my car was just sitting there not being worked on. When I called, they at first thought that most of the mechanics had left but then went and found one that was still there. She told us to bring in the car. Long story, short, they replaced the battery and we were on the road by 6:10 - an HOUR after we noticed the problem! The battery replacement cost $225 (including tax) but we saved $25 with the Yelp promotion. This had the makings of a really bad experience but Yelp and British Maerican saved the day!! read more

I just started using them within the past 3 months for 2 of my vehicles. I really like their online appointment form. You fill in your info, the issue, and day/time you would like the appt. Someone from their office calls you within an hour to confirm and gather any extra info regarding the car's issue. They've been able to take my cars in the requested times (one was for the very next day) and even have a free shuttle service that drops me off at home/work and picks me up from home/work. The shuttle driver is friendly, local, and very familiar with just about every route in HoCo and AA County. Their customer waiting area is actually comfortable and has WiFi, Keurig, and a children's play area. After dropping off the car, they will call you with updates and any new findings and ask for permission before performing any new work. I don't know how the prices compare to other places but I've been satisfied with both times I've used them and will continue to do so in the future. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before this, however I feel that I received such exceptional service from 'BA Auto Care' (Columbia, MD) this past Friday (3/25/22) that I am compelled to acknowledge it. While I have been a satisfied, loyal customer of 'BA Auto Care' for the past 17 years, I was extremely grateful for the accommodation they recently afforded me at a moment of minor crisis with my car. Last Friday, I was driving to a memorial service from my home (in Columbia) to downtown Washington when my car started choking and the 'check engine' light appeared on the dash. Fortunately, I was still in Columbia and pulled over immediately. I was devastated that it appeared that I would miss the memorial service, but decided to call 'BA Auto Care' in case they could take me as an emergency case ---- I rewarded for that decision (rather than try to return home), because they advised me that I could come in and, at least, get a diagnostic code that day. Luckily, my car successfully made it to 'BA Auto' where they were able to get the diagnostic code from my dash immediately. They asked if they could keep the car until the following Monday in order to perform the necessary work. I live alone and had no alternate means of transportation (to even return home) and told them I would have to bring it back (somehow) on Monday. The response was, 'no problem' and they offered me a 'loaner' car, to use from that time through to Monday, when my car would be ready. While I found that level of service to be remarkable and greatly appreciated, it is not what has prompted me to write this review. I have been compelled to write this because each step of my dealing with this business through this moment of crisis for me was seamless, timely and always with a smile. So much so, that I was able to make it to the memorial service (only being 1/2 hour late) and pay my respect --- that meant a lot to me. I am extremely disappointed with this business and honestly don't know how they have been able to exist as long as they have. If there were zero stars available I would have selected just that. Let's start from the beginning. I religiously go to the dealership for my BMW 650i but in the sake of convenience I decided to use this shop for my minor repair. Well, so I thought. First off I dropped the car off with these folks on a Tuesday and it wasn't ready until the following Tuesday, which is way too long in my opinion, but I didn't complain about that one. Well when I went to pick it up on the following Tuesday, I noticed right away the front of my grill was broken, and this happened while in the care of BA Auto. At this point I am getting a little heated because no one mentioned this to me or said anything about it. Maybe they thought I wouldn't noticed that my car was damaged. We had a discussion about it and they did try to make it right and ordered a replacement part. Which is the right thing to do. Well done BA Auto. So I go to pay my $1363 bill. Which flaunted over $900 in labor alone. Now for the test, to determine if my actual problem was resolved, the coolant replacement line to my turbo which was leaking. Low and behold....no it was not. Actually, my car gave an error message I had never seen before or knew existed. "Engine temperature is high. Drive moderately. If persist contact a service consultant." Wait BA Auto, you were my service consultant for this repair and before you my car never displayed that message. Now I am beside myself. So let's recap so far. My grill is broken, my issue wasn't resolved that I know of, and now I have a new issue displaying from my car that references excessive heat to the engine, which we all know could be death to a car. Guess the $900 in labor didn't include making sure the job was done. For $135 an hour labor this is unacceptable in every aspect fathomable. I demanded a refund of my payment and left my overheating car while idling for less than 2 minutes at the shop for yet another day, since they had to fix the grill and also find out why my car engine temperature message was displaying. I get a call the next morning from the owner who tells me nothing I wasn't already told previously but he did rub me the wrong way when he didn't start the conversation off with an apology for the inconvenience and lack luster service his shop has provided. Brian, the owner, mentioned how he has been in this business over 50 years and has a very good reputation. I said to him that I may be the .5% of your 99.5% client base that is not satisfied with your work. However I am 100% dissatisfied with my experience with your shop being this is my first visit and only experience i can reference. I finally get my car back the next day. The grill has 2 parts and while they replaced the one side they broke the other side is the original and now my car looks odd, with one side new and the other a bit weathered. Zane says to me, "Oh you can probably polish that to make it look like the other one." My wife looked at me and thought I was gonna give them a piece of my mind. I remained calm. So, my car was damaged, the repair was not done and had to be kept longer to complete and another one presented itself which was directly related to my engine. Over 36 miles driven on my BMW 650i to "...test the car out." My car seems ok so far but at this point I don't trust it will remain that way. Who knows what kind of damage was done to my car. To the point that I am starting my search to purchase a new car because I don't trust BA Auto and have no faith in their work. Not even a discount on my bill for the mishap or a credit towards a future repair was offered for wasting my time that was spent going back and forth to the shop which translates to money for me but rather they said, "the repair to the grill is free of charge." You damn right it is, you broke it. Nor any reimbursement was offered for damaging my car. Went in for a front brake job on my BMW 335i and then my drive side front HIB went out, so I told them replace that as well, simple job right?! Every thing went well after two days and then I decided to wash the car. On the way back from the car wash, I got malfunction error on the adaptive headlight. And noticed condensation building up inside the drive side light housing. I suspect the guy who replaced the HIB didn't seal the housing properly and water got in and damage the module. So I brought the car in and yes they said that's exactly what happened. And quote me $2200 to replace the headlight module!!! They refused to acknowledge that it's their fault, and it just happened that exact seal went bad right after they worked on the same light!!!! I will never come back again. read more

These people are incompetent. I decided to go with this company because of its high rating on Yelp. I now regret it. I left my car with them for a 60k inspection. They said they found nothing wrong with my car. I just took my car into the dealership today because of some nosies I was hearing and they offered to do a free inspection. They found a ton of issues with my car that these guys completely missed. In addition, the fix that they did to my air conditioner was not an actual fix and caused extensive damage to my condenser. In addition to paying these guys over 1000 dollars, I now have to pay 3000 dollars for either stuff that they missed or damage that they could have caused. I went with them because I was told that they had quality mechanics. Even when I found out that they charge an outrageously high inspection fee (just for looking at the car), I decided to go with them for piece of mind. Big mistake! I will never have my car serviced by them again. I will tell all of my friends about my experiences with them and hopefully they will take their business else where. From looking at the latest reviews, you can see that there are a lot more people complaining about them. They are not trustworthy and charge outrageous fees on parts and service. I would avoid them at all cost otherwise you will just end up taking your car to the dealership to fix the problems that they cause. read more

This place was awesome. I had to get a simple oil change on my newly purchased vehicle and I decided to try this place because of the good ratings, and I'm so happy I did. Not only did the technicians treat me like a human being with a brain, they were courteous and honest. Originally they told me my oil change would be $30, it was $27 which included a lengthy list of other basic checks and topping off of my fluids. They even did a temporary fix for my wipers because they weren't spraying correctly. Not to mention their waiting room had a selection of snacks and beverages. Great from start to finish. It was not until two months into the three month dispute - and only after BA Auto Care submitted demonstrably false rebuttal evidence to both the Maryland Attorney General office's Consumer Protection Division and my creditor - that I requested a full refund. 2. Since the damage was not discovered until the next oil/filter change on 2019-03-14 your assertion BA Auto Care would have initiated an investigation had the damage been reported in 2016 is of no value. The assertion is also dubious if it intends to imply BA Auto Care would not have required customer payment for the independent analysis given BA Auto Care's behavior leading up to and during the dispute. read more

Our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee experienced some major mechanical issues related to the transmission. The Jeep is our primary family vehicle used to take weekend trips around the DMV and is my wife's primary vehicle to-and-from work, so we were pretty frustrated with the problem. It got so bad, that the Jeep became unsafe to drive. After much research, I found BA Auto Care to be at the top of my list. After visiting the store and talking with the service representative, I was very impressed with the knowledge and friendly conversation. They kept us informed every step of the way, and provided immediate answers to all of our concerns over the phone. They quickly identified the problem, talked us through the options, and worked fast to resolve it. They even went above and beyond to offer repairs to some non-related issues, which we decided to do. When the Jeep was ready for pickup, we were relieved to find out they offered pickup/dropoff service to customers. My wife was expecting to take an Uber to pickup the Jeep, but instead was driven by the great team at BA Auto Care. It's been nearly two weeks now, and the Jeep drives great.
